Fair. Whatever makes you feel comfortable is the entire point of life, or at least it should be IMO. Anyway I hope you're feeling better.

Melodic Canvas opening for Temple of Angels.
Scary Guy replied to SlavicGoth's topic in Nightlife, Events & Concerts
$15? Is that the Crofoot proper or one of the smaller bars in it? That's the best price I've seen for an actual concert in a while that wasn't free. -
A friend just sent me this and it's the best thing this week so far: Which reminded me of this: And this: This probably counts as well: Also that scene from I think it was "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" where the antagonist had his own goth harem tent. I only vaguely remember that and it's been 30 years. So, what do people like to get out and do? I was thinking if there was a 24 hour one or one open at least pretty late that would be nice. Not much of a day person though.

Show Me Your Favorite Accessories
Scary Guy replied to Queen of Foxes's topic in Fashion, Beauty and Costume.
My hat is one that my grandfather picked up at a flea market for me. As he's dead now I plan to wear it until it falls apart (even though I prefer a flat crown.) I may get another one though soon. The hatband on it is my belt from when I was seven that I later stained to be darker and put spikes on. I have two other bands including the one that came with that hat, and another that my grandfather got me when I was 4 from a Native American store, which is another belt that's brown and has beads all over it forming a pattern. I have some black Julbo Glacier sunglasses with round brown lenses that I quite like. I don't wear them often enough though. I should really get custom lenses cut for them. I just got some Bluetooth earplugs on a cord. I have a necklace with an arrowhead made out of polished tiger's eye that was my father's. The chain I got when I was doing work for a jewelry store (along with a bracelet.) I've been doing button up shirts more recently so I can wear my collection of bolo ties. I have a few favorites of those. One that my friend Todd gave me is a snake that doesn't have a clasp, rather it just wraps around the cord. Another is a pewter skull with wings and rubies for eyes. The aglets are also little skulls, though one of them is missing the ruby. I got that at a flea market for $20ish back when I was in my early 20's. Another is the first one I ever got that my father used to wear. Does my Glock count? Oh, I wear that on the belt I got from Lisa who works at Noir Leather like forever ago. It's got fancy bits on it and the buckle was my fathers who got it from my grandfather. I got some LED gloves recently with 4 LED's just behind each knuckle on each glove. I must say they're pretty handy! Oh, I also have some rings. One was my grandfather's that's shaped like a belt and another is apparently an old wedding ring of my father's. Finally my boots that my ex Jen got me. They look great but my heels start to hurt if I stand in them for too long. I need to get some that are less painful. My 5.11 boots don't have that issue at all. They also have a zipper on the side and hidden pockets I never use for fear that whatever it is might fall out. Theoretically they could hold things like a USB drive or a small spare .32 ACP magazine. -
I heard about "rage rooms" where you pay a fee and break as much as you want. Not sure how you feel about firearms but those can be fun too with a good outdoor range and some bottles/other targets. Just have to make sure to pick up your brass and any other mess after.

I've always thought that you can't really blame people for having bad taste. It sucks and it's shitty of them but you can't really change them even if you've done nothing wrong. They just see you and think "not that one." Not everyone is required to be friends with everyone else and sometimes it really is their loss. You're a very intelligent, thoughtful, kind, and caring person, and anyone who doesn't get to know that about you is missing out, and all those people you mentioned did miss out.

Wow, I read all of that and while it's sadly not the worst I've ever heard it's pretty bad. I'm glad you've survived and gotten out of it. As far as the Asperger's thing goes, that was actually a good thing at the time. There was unfortunately saving the kids with severe Autism, but those that could possibly function could at least be seen as being useful. This spared them and they at least got to live. But there is a lot of debate over whether or not he was actually a Nazi in spirit or just in name. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2016/01/20/463603652/was-dr-asperger-a-nazi-the-question-still-haunts-autism As I recently said in another thread, the evil that people do does not negate the good that they have done, and vice versa. (Also I don't really think good and evil exist other than as a vehicle to describe the behaviors we find socially acceptable or abhorrent.) If you are having phone issues I'd be happy to take a look if you're in the Detroit area. I used to work at a MetroPCS and am generally known as a guru for all things tech (except for Apple because they are horrible.) If you ever want to go into it this is the thread for it. If you don't want to dump all your everything into a public online forum you're welcome to talk to me about it in person (not that I am a therapist or anything, but I find that talking to friends does make for the best therapy.) Finally I'll tell about something that happened to me recently. I went to the Michigan Atheists meeting and there was a girl there who clearly had moderate Autism. She started bawling during the Q&A with the speaker because she was happy to be there, but sad about her parents lying to her for the majority of her life. I signed up for my membership that day and was given the option of a free book that I didn't want. Then I changed my mind, grabbed "God is Not Great" by Christopher Hitchens (one of my favorite authors) and promptly gave it to her. Then talked with her a little bit and tried to help her through some things. I keep thinking I should try to get into becoming a therapist but also that I'm also too screwed up to do so.

The moon is not an excuse for people acting like lunatics. I keep feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack but it never seems to come. Sometimes I pound on my chest real hard and then it seems to feel okay again.

I once shot a man in Reno just to watch him die. It was great.

Honestly I'm a little surprised I don't see any ink that I can see. You certainly have the hippie thing down pretty good otherwise. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I don't currently have any either and I doubt I ever will. Just one more thing to itch and annoy me.

What are some of your favorite instrumental songs?
Scary Guy replied to phee's topic in Music Discussion
Yes, that Orbital track is exactly what I was thinking of when I was talking about creative use of vocals. They come from this song: Which is actually a remix/cover of this acappella song: Anyway.... Back on topic: (you know, before thy sucked) (last one is just mostly instrumental too) -
Surprisingly the theater thing wasn't the worst thing he's ever done, just the worst thing he's ever done in public. Guess he got convicted for CP in '04. $100 fine with three years probation and was put on a list. There really are two sets of laws. I hope he was mostly a good man other than those two things, but I can't help but wonder how many other skeletons were shaking around in his closet.

At about 3 minutes in it goes from good to great: (I also have the sined CD by the artist that I got when I saw his talk at Penguicon (many years ago before I hated it)!) -
The time that you enjoy wasting is not wasted time. Though I am currently doing the same. Can't really work on anything at this hour other than online..

The Office (UK version) Ep 3. Doing all of the original before I start the US one.

Since it's been a few years I took it again just to see if it still worked. It did and I got the same thing. If I'm anything it's consistent. Anyway, install Firefox, as it may work better for you.

I saw him at the Royal Oak Music Theater in I think it was 2006? It was a great show. Doubt I'd trek out that way to see him now. Fun story from Ted who is one of the owners of I-Rock, back in the late 80's when he did his first US tour he had his wife with him and I guess she didn't allow him to drink or do anything "fun." Ted said it was the best he ever played, and apparently the last time she went on tour with him as well. Anyway back on topic... -
To be fair, when the topic was started MAGA conservatives didn't exist yet. It was still "The Tea Party" at that time, which was stolen from the Libertarians and corrupted into something we hated. This is easy, everyone on the left is a Commie and everyone on the right is a Nazi. Don't even need to think about it, you just lump them all together :P
