  1. https://fr.sott.net/article/27467-Orwell-versus-Huxley I wanted to post this in another thread. May as well post it here.
  2. I was never cringe, and I really haven't changed much since I was 14. I've always made that a point to try to remain as true to myself as I can. I will admit to some of my views having changed slightly, but those are very few and I acknowledge that I'm a shittier person now because of that.
  3. I still need to listen to it. Haven't actually hooked up a CD player in a long time now (the credenza project is almost done though, sorta.) I swear I'll get to it but I have a ton of other things I'm doing too. Regardless I'm sure worse has been promoted here and even played in the clubs too.
  4. I mean I had a post here about it, but it's your event you do you. @TronRP if you could unpin the one I made that would be great since we definitely don't need a bunch of pins clogging up everything. Here's a link to the SAM listing too because I hate Failbook: https://secularalliance.org/index.php/events/1-dam/2023-08-08-18-00 Here's a link to the Meetup.com site if anyone is on that: https://www.meetup.com/samich/events/294912983 I usually roll in around 5-5:30 ish to set up the slideshow. I'm hoping to streamline it better though in the future.
  5. I've technically been sober 99% of my life probably. I can remember and count the few times I have drank on one hand. First time was at Mephisto's with two shots of Jager for Andrew's birthday (and I hate black licorice.) Second time was a week later with a shot of Hennessy at Whisky in the Jar with the Mephisto's crew after hours. At Luna one time I grabbed the wrong drink, which counts but doesn't. One time I scratched my eye and had searing pain and wanted something to take the edge off (I fell asleep on the couch.) Then there was another time I had bad breath so I just wanted something minty to make it less obnoxious. Then there was that time I took a literal sip of my girlfriend at the time's Sake' (actually could have been her friend I don't remember) because she wanted me to try a little. We then got pulled over in my first Hearse by a bored nosy cop down in Wyandotte who asked if I'd been drinking. I said what I just said and offered to let him breathalyze me if he wanted. "Why were you weaving." "It dogwalks." Then after some more chitchat he let me go. Surprisingly I don't remember ever actually being "drunk" off the first few times and I've always kind of wondered what my tolerance is. My reasons for not drinking are plenty. Because of my Autism I've never enjoyed the taste as to me most liquor tastes like cough syrup, and most beers taste like what I imagine piss to taste like. I'm also generally always driving / armed (the limit is .02 if you carry a firearm, it's .04 for pilots.) My mother was a drunk, my pappy (grandfather on my mother's side) was a violent drunk (and a gigantic asshole), and just seeing what it does with other people was never really for me. My latest reasons for not drinking are Alyse (because she used to get absolutely wasted and that was annoying to deal with, but I enjoyed being with her more than I hated dealing with that and "I can fix her!"), and Leo who's been in jail for a while for crashing and killing her. Which I think she bled out internally even faster because she was blackout drunk so her blood was thinned too. At least I hope she was so that she wasn't in any pain :( As long as I'm here I might as well leave some resources: https://www.smartrecovery.org https://thesatanictemple.com/pages/sober-faction https://www.sossobriety.org/ https://aaagnostica.org/secular-organization-for-sobriety-sos/ https://secularrecoverygroup.org/ There's also that classic AA cult, but literally use whatever works for you and even that is better than nothing. I always liked Doug Stanhope's take on AA, but I'll let y'all look that up if you want.
  6. Sadly I sold it when I sold the hearse. That was my favorite one too despite the color (white with a bit of a pinkish rose color around the top.) It also completely lacked an interior. But it still had the adjustable bed in it, the gasket seal was intact, and I could lock it with a casket key (glorified Allen wrench.) It even had a compartment on the other side for notes and small keepsakes that also unscrewed from the outside. I could put my duster or whatever in it and lock it, and not have to worry about it too much. Also I was a bit disheartened (and livid) when someone stole my fucking collapsible church truck. I hope whoever did that gets the angriest form of ass cancer.
  7. I was always more of a fan of Threads. Released a year later it makes The Day After look like a Disney production: Failsafe was very good too, but you can't really find it for free on YouTube. There are a few other good movies in this nuclear doomsday genre that are based in a potential reality. But yes, living by Detroit is scary because we're pretty high up on the list of strike zones. All our automotive plants can be converter into tank manufacturing very quickly. We have a military base and some other heavy industry/design companies too. As long as I have at least one bullet I'll be safe from the fallout. Maybe I'd stick around to see the chaos a bit though before punching my ticket into oblivion.
  8. Well I was there and that's my casket, so of course I was going to be bumble around. I probably didn't even realize they were filming at the time.
  9. I agree with Tyson in that there has to be aliens, as the universe is too vast and is filled with the elements that make up life on earth (carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, etc...) But in the same breath he'll tell you that he doesn't believe that any of them have ever visited our planet. Is it possible? Sure and even more so than religion / mysticism. However it isn't probable at all and that's what counts here. The government isn't hiding anything because it simply has nothing to hide. Everyone claiming otherwise is either nuts or trying to grift a buck off the alien hypetrain. They need to either provide solid evidence to back up their claims or STFU.
  10. My dumbass is actually thinking City Club tonight.
  11. No no, it was a joke, read the quoted part.
  12. You could have stopped typing there :P But yes, we are our own worst critics.
  13. Eat, and if that doesn't fix it then you know and also at least you won't be hungry anymore. I know hangry is a thing, are you had then? :P
  14. Exactly that. Ideally the two events would work around each other though I think.
  15. I didn't say anything about Snap, but I did manually uninstall the entire system and put on Firefox as a proper package (as it should be.) I do like .appimage though a lot. Probably the best of of the three. As far as Index goes, no one gives a shit about VR anymore. It's all about AI now. Still I'm hoping they come out with another headset that fixes all the complaints people had with the old one.
  16. Well, I seem to can't find any information on it on here. I'm pretty sure I posted something though back in the day but a search for it pulled up nada. Anyway I've always said you support who you want. Go to Small's too I don't really care, but you'll never see my ass there. As long as it doesn't compete with MANFAST I'm happy. There are too many people stepping on too many toes already.
  17. You should look into that "body doubling" thing.
  18. I think I dropped off somewhere around noonthirty.
  19. https://nosystemd.org This is the hill I will die on. It's too bloated and... Well just read the link as it contains everything I'd say anyway (as a bonus https://flatkill.org is fun too!) It's less about Steam than it is about the Index. Steam would work fine, but I paid $1K for this glitchy piece of hardware (granted if I ran Windows it might actually work but fuck Windows) and I'd rather have it be glitchy than a total paperweight. I'd probably have to manually compile drivers or something to get it to even work. Not that I'm even using it at the moment because the cooling in my system is inadequate and if I try it will melt itself. I really need to get these car radiator fans working...
  20. Oh I'm still salty over them moving Convergence, and apparently I'm not even mentioned in their wiki for it? That's nice (bastards) I mean they could have at least put me in whatever that "Drama" section is. Though I may have edited out my credit on the application website because every applicant needed to create one and I had done the one for Detroit, and I was pretty angry over all of it. Detroit won because it deserved to and I'm half assed good at what I do. So basically they were going to hold it at Harpo's when the oldest goth club in the city is City Club (since 1983!) and then Kat got on Failbook and started shitting on us and got it moved to Small's which pissed me off so much I quit going completely for a while (that was the first time.) Stopped going to World Goth Day too. I have all this shit written down somewhere, but it's on another hard drive in cold storage (which I need to dig out anyway.)
