I'm used to going outside to smoke anyway, don't want my place smelling like a damn ashtray, although bet a lot of bars that are up north,U.P. in the middle of no where won't enforce it.

but here is one thing, since this was never brought up.

FYI,someone goes outside to have a cigarette and they have to leave their drink inside, someone else spikes it, yeah that will be a big problem, since most places where you could not smoke inside, won't let you take your drink outside, unless they have one of those decks/patios.just a word of caution.always keep a 100% eye on your drinks.

The ban isn't even enforced in Wisconsin yet and they are already changing it. Now as long as there are two walls with open windows in the room you can smoke there.

Funny thing is my town just had a big protest against the ban led by the owners and workers of the bars...the very people the ban is supposed to protect.

I could really care less if there were some provisions made and some of the rules were less moronic. 25 feet away from most buildings is not only in the road, it overlaps with the 25 foot rule on the other side of the road. Also, if lawmakers made provisions for places that still wanted smoking like, oh, private clubs where patrons and owners asked for it. With it being warm out I don't really care that much as long as I can take my beer out with me which I WILL do...but winter is gonna suck...anti-smokers can kiss my ass and walk through the smoke its not going to kill you.

The health department up here won't be enforcing the ban because they can't afford to hire more people to go around just to make sure no one is smoking in the bars. They're pissed because it's another unfunded mandate they are expected to just hire more people for. So yeah no one will be enforcing it here.

Anyone know that the fines are and such for a bar not enforcing this?

I know over here and Canada, I believe it is a fine for a the first few times ever increasing and on your like 4 shot you are closed down.

CC non-smoking would be nice, I use to smoke but now that I quit, I want to quit 100% and not get second hand. I just hope they are not stupid about it... charging 4 bucks every time someone goes out to smoke will kill the place. I am sure they can figure out someway to make it so people can get their fix and not have to worry about being charged again.

*Laughs* It doesnt matter, Detroit isnt going to enforce it, nor will a lot of places.

Hmm...I think, that they WILL enforce it with the iron fist...my corner pub plans to..for the now..SEE, THERE'S THESE CASINOS...& they, WANT more business...& they, HAVE THE CONNECTIONS...& THE POLICE, IN THE D...NEEDS MORE EXCUSES TO WRITE MORE TICKETS...'REVENUE' THEY CALLS IT...twas nothing to do with the 'help's health'...that's the smoke screen (pun).....

SO..I'll be movin' May, or June...a bar & small 'fridge will be added to my basement, & also, some pretty party lights, & music kickin' speakers..& a bad-assed air filter...& we'll even let non-smokers in...

This would have been unnecessary, if they'ld have thought (or had the $ to renovate), as I have been in smoking establishments where they had $$$, & guess what, not smokey at all...

..you have to put these things together.

...& quit being so paranoid nocker...'everyone'..isn't even here 'everyday' ;)

I think that's just a cop out excuse that many county execs are using. There are significant tax revenues coming from bars to local establishments, I presume, and they don't want to see that revenue drop. It's not like you need someone in every bar all the time. Just the threat of an inspector randomly coming in should do the work. Oh... and the fact that it's law.

Grab a 30 foot ladder and head for the roof.

I have it on good authority that C.C. plans to open a room just for smoking and it will be legal because it will be a cigar bar. I understand you non smokers who hate smoking but supporting this is supporting government control. It should be left to the individual establishment.

CC is either going to work something out with customers being able to go in and out to have a cigarette by doing wrist bans like Necto dose in stead of just writing on the hand to make it easyer and so we can still keep business, or CC is going to make a cigar bar type deal....but if worse comes to worse and they dont do anything to help out the smokers...the electronic cigarette is still legal to smoke in the building so smokers can always just switch to that
