Msterbeau's New Scarf

I thought you might like to see it before I send it, to make sure you actually like the color combination. I got a little nutz. I don't normally do more than two colors.

{plus, it's a great reason for me to have a vanity moment}

I was thinking I might try to stitch a little skull or something into one end... but I'm not sure I could. I'll mull over it a bit, and we'll see how things go.

Hmm... yes?

I can turn out a scarf in about a week, depending on length, width, and number of yarn switches. That's spending about a half hour to an hour on it a night, since I don't usually have time to turn out a whole six to seven hours of crochet work.

I only know a few basic knots, mostly I make them up. In other words... I wouldn't try to make anything other than a scarf, or maybe a baby blanket. But sure, I'm up for it. Especially since at the end of October, I'll have LOTS of time to crochet on the long drive out of alaska. :happydance

I'm learning though. I finally found a crochet book that I can understand - one with real pictures, not just drawings. I might, in the future, be able to confidently make a hat, or a bag, or do something with a zig-zag pattern.

I can make a ruffly boa too. Those are fun.

Finally, I work primarily in really soft, pettable yarns, and some wools. I hate regular acrylic, it's too stiff and itchy.

Ech... I really need to learn when to stop typing. Sheesh.

Can you do penis warmers? I know you can find patterns on the internet, I've just never searched for them though. I'm thinking if you crochet one of those Scunci cloth covered no-slip rubber bands into the opening, it would stay on nicely. AND DON'T USE WOOL! lol

Oh, how nice.

You know, about three minutes ago I was sitting here lamenting the loss last winter of my favorite scarf. It was black and warm and similarly knotted to Marc's, from what I can tell, and at the end it had black ribbons woven in here and there, sticking out all messy and awesome.

I think if you could make me one of those...or even something similar, I'd be incredibly happy (uh, and pay you).

 You know you miss a garment when you think about it randomly, a full year after you lost it.

Heh, I had one like that. It was red, and had red sparklie threads in it too though, in addition to the ribbons. I loved it so... and left it at a mongolian bbq. The bastards wouldn't claim finding it though... grr.

Shucks guys... thanks for the compliments.

I'd be glad to take on any jobs. I'll have to consider rates... nothing too bad, though the yarn is usually the expensive part.

I think I'd have to practice for the penis warmer... but I did manage to successfully make an ipod case. Took forever, but it turned out faboo, with the window and turner openings and all.

Um... pm me if you want something! :welcome:

Heh.

I almost swallowed my gum.

Nice work on the scarf!

I only want a scarf if it's a Tom Baker scarf.

And if you know not what a Tom Baker scarf is, you shouldn't be wearing a scarf at all.

My purple and black scarf is very Tom Baker-ish. Long and thick, and ... wrappy.

But the colors are all wrong.

I've seen patterns for it though, for different incarnations of it. It could be done.
