  1. Feelin pretty damn good actually! Had a beautiful day of disc golfing and now sucking down a fantastic slurpee before work. Hopefully fishing out on lake st clair tomorrow. Haven't caught a walleye yet this year, but I'll get one of them bastards eventually. Then eat it, viciously, victorious with the thrill of a delicious kill.
  2. That is excellent, way to keep an eye, man ;P And thanks for the welcome! Hopefully meet some friends here. Love the ones I've got, but it'd be nice to meet more people with similar interests.
  3. I've been told I look like the Bella chick from Twilight. And even though that isn't my cup of tea exactly, I do think she's a pretty girl in a unique way, so I'm cool with it.
  4. I believe you are also a member on musicbanter.com? What are the odds of that! I replied to your thread about this over there with some recs.
  5. Not an Agalloch fan but I looooovvvveee Jex Thoth. One of my favorite bands. Calling all fempower occultic females, you really need to become familiar with this band if you aren't already Psychadelic doom metal at its finest! Playing July 5th at Majestic Theater. http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=4200184 This oughta make up for missing Trouble at Small's a few weeks ago :( Timing belt went out on my car on my way to the venue. I was mega bummed.
  6. Looks like I'll be enjoying my spring break off school by... sledding
  7. Here are some suggestions that if followed will make this thread run very smoothly: 1. One video per post 2. Please don't skip over any songs. All songs deserve a rating! If its not your cup of tea, feel free to say so. All ratings are valid and respectable. 3. Rate videos 1-10; keep all reviews short, a paragraph at most 6. Don't quote videos! That will make the page load slower. This site doesn't have super heavy traffic, so a quote really isn't necessary. Maybe put the name of the song you're rating, if it makes you feel better. Let's have some fun, and maybe discover some new favorites! I'll start us off with this classy little number...
  8. Oh awesome! Yeah, that's definitely helpful. I've been manually going to the topics to check for updates. I'm glad I won't be the only weirdo who posts too much I have a tendency to post multiple new topics. All of which I think are awesome of course!
  9. Stole from TronRP's welcome thread.... I feel like answering questions and talking about myself The DGN (welcome) Questions 2.1 ™ © Formerly the "S.D.G.N.W.Q.P.S." The Standard Detroit Gothic . Net Welcome Questions Polls and Suggestions 1.7b Feel free to ignore anything you feel uncomfortable sharing, dont have the energy for or have covered already. We are just friendly, if a bit nosey. And we ask these same questions fairly often as you may have noticed. Current location? Essentially Stony Creek, moving to Harrison Twp soon though Where from? Moved a LOT growing up Gender? Totally doesn't matter. Guess. Work? Love being a janitor! School? One class at a time.. Kids? Probably never, love hangin with them but would hate raising them Married? Probably never, turns love into an obligation IMO. Plus I like the independence. Single? Hell no! I'm soul married, goin on three years now. Hobbies? Disc golf, kayaking, Warhammer 40k, video games, Netflix, writing, creating various art, resin embedding, skeleton articulating, knitting, reading, music, singing, metal detecting, fishing, candle making... new interests will crop up soon enough though. I pretty much suck at most of these things, easily bored. How Did You Find / hear about DGN? Googled 'Michigan Goth Forum' because I want more cool chicks to hang with! Cool guys too, I guess. But to be honest I'm mainly here for the bitches I don't have enough female friends. I even put an ad on craigslist seeking more... yeah, I'm fuckin creepy, I know. Creepy and straight, Weird combo. How did you pick your DGN name? I'm a nihilistic weirdo who believes there's a better chance at understanding the universe through death than life. Maybe nothing happens, maybe everything happens. Either way our technology just aint cutting it for me and I look forward to the day I bow to the reaper. Gonna enjoy this planet until then Other Stuff? I just started exercising and eating better, but I think I'm gonna stuff my face this morning.
  10. Really? I didn't make the list? And here I thought you and I were the only people that ever post on here haha. Well, I'm a newbie. I'm sure the other members will come out of the cracks to say hi soon enough.
  11. So did anyone check out the new 'Cosmos'? I thought it was a fucking fantastic introduction to the new series. Nobody can expect the likeable charm that Sagan brought to the original, but Tyson exemplifies perfectly the modern, high-tech visualizations and ideas we have available today. Something about the dude has just always screamed 'modern' to me. Overall very different from the original, as expected, but possibly will prove itself equally stimulating. I thought it was a visual masterpiece and education-wise great for an introduction, will certainly be watching weekly.
  12. I actually hadn't heard of them, just checked it out since you mention it and I dig! I only listened to the debut album but awesome, fun shit, almost experimental. I fuckin love supergroups.
  13. I wish I had mashed potatoes, those are my favorite to play with
  14. I'm thinking I wish had one friend, just ONE FRIEND, who works nights like I do so I'd have someone to hit up the park with on this beautiful winter day. Now I'm thinking how lame it is I don't have a dog, because he'd be down to go to the park with me. I really want my own dog, but this isn't my house and it isn't my call.
  15. Ahh thank you, technology has come far! That band is in my top five, and that song is in my top 5 by them. I'm glad you enjoyed Whole album is definitely worth a listen. One of the greatest guitarists ever to have lived... he passed away last week, at age 66 :( I've been jamming him a lot more since then.
  16. I've honestly thought every vocalist worked with them quite well. I kinda view it the way a lot of people view Black Sabbath and Ozzy/Dio... seperate but equal. For instance my favorite album is Horror Show, but a close second is the Gettysburg Trilogy. So go figure haha. Yeah by all means keep this updated. I'll be trying to convince the man to leave the house for once until then. Maybe threatening to meet up with strangers will do the trick!
  17. Oh I'll be here plenty I'm sure haha. I have an internet forum addiction, I'm actually a member on about a dozen other websites.
  18. Validated now! Whats up goth folk?

  19. Just waitin around till work, trying to resist buying cigarettes.... I recently decided to quit and just stick to the occasional cigar and vaping. I miss enjoying smoking, it's just become such a chore/expectation. At least with a cigar once every few days I can get the nicotine I need, and appreciate it like the connoisseur I am, instead of as an addict getting a fix.
  20. From moshpitnation Saturday, April 12 · 5:00 pm [DET] Iced Earth, Sabatan, Revamp @ Saint Andrew's Hall Event on Facebook · Venue Website · Venue Map Iced Earth is an American Heavy Metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1985, by guitarist and main songwriter Jon Schaffer and original drummer Greg Seymour. Originally founded under the name "Purgatory", Iced Earth released their debut album in 1990. Since then, the band have released a total of ten studio albums, four EPs, three compilations, three box sets, one live album and one covers album. After releasing two studio albums in 1990 and 1991, respectively, Iced Earth took a three year layoff, from 1992 to 1995,[4] after which the band returned with new lead vocalist Matt Barlow. Iced Earth went on to release four studio albums with Barlow, between 1995 and 2001 respectively; 1995's Burnt Offerings, 1996's The Dark Saga, 1998's Something Wicked This Way Comes and 2001's Horror Show. Anyone else hoping to go? I checked out their new album 'Plagues of Babylon' and I gotta say, I actually really like it. Vocalists come and go, but the sound is forever. They're definitely still Iced Earth. And thank fucking god they're not playing in Grand Rapids again! Goddamn Grand Rapids gets all the good shows And there's no way my ass is driving two hours unless it's one of my top five bands.
  21. Hell yeah for psychadelic stoner doom! If anyone else is a fan, they have a new album dropping pretty soon. Definitely stoked for that one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjLKjVNPn5E Edit: How do I post a vid directly? I tried both embed codes, neither seem to work
  22. I would not mind seeing Nick Cave. Not a huge fan, but definitely respect, especially from a poet's perspective. If anyone's inclined, the band My Ruin does an excellent female cover of 'Do You Love Me'.
