  1. Anything decaffeinated. I was having too much bad juju from even as much caffeine as a regular glass of cola has. So I'm not going there anymore if I can avoid it.
  2. That's what your 30's and 40's are for. I've told people before - try not to make any lifelong plans in your 20's. It's a period of too many changes, too much growth and discovery. I don't know anyone - myself included - who had an easy time in their 20's and came out the same person as they went in.
  3. Well, t'was rhetorical, really. But the dentist did marvel at the size of my sinuses upon full-face x-ray. So I tend to hold MORE than 15ml I guess. Thanks, WikiPhee.
  4. Just how much snot can there possibly be in one person's sinuses?
  5. A little more down now that our snowblower is broken, at the start of the first big snowfall in upper Michigan, with a driveway that is about, I dunno, 500 yards long or more? And that's only if we do half of it. Oh, and we don't have a shovel, either. Joy.
  6. Mostly over my cold. But apprehensive over our only vehicle being mostly out of commission.
  7. Zero. I'm not digging much "new." I did listen to Kate Bush's "50 Words For Snow" because I absolutely adore the woman and her work, but it's not something I'm ecstatic about. I haven't heard Tom Waits' new album, but I am sure it will be an eventual fave. I don't think I listened to anything else in its entirety this year. And I can't think of any singles off the top of my head that I particularly favored, either. Of any type - alternative, independent, Top 40, etc. I'm in a rut.
  8. (Inspired by the "Gray Hair" thread) How do you feel about aging? I've been on DGN for it's full 10 year lifespan since it was The Spiral Board, save a few early months. When I first came on board, I was 33, Jon was 23, and the then oldest member admitted to me they were 46 years old. I remember being really shocked at their age, thinking they didn't look it, but thinking about "how old that is" for being in this scene. :D Now I'm 3 years away from that age myself. I feel great. I'm still generally guessed to be in my mid- to late-20's, and that's made entering my 40's and getting some gray hairs here and there ever so easy to bear. As I mentioned in the "Gray hair" thread, at my recent 25th high school reunion, the overwhelming reaction I got was that I look fantastic and have barely changed since 1986. That was massively reaffirming, I'll admit. I'm way happier in my 40's than I was when I turned 30. Turning 30 was near devastating to me. Turning 40 was nothing. I'm way happier now. As for being of a particular age in "this scene," I'm not into it as I was 5 years ago, but it's not for lack of interest. I've changed locations now, and there is no "scene" where I'm living. I stopped going to City Club a few years before moving, but that had a lot more to do with interpersonal situations than waning interest. If I were still living in the Detroit area, you'd see me up there every Saturday again. I realize DGN's general populace is a decade or more younger than me. But I wonder, 10 years into the life of DGN, how people feel about their own aging. How they feel about their appearance, their philosophies on life and how they might have changed or grown, their interests, etc.
  9. I have some, but I can't tell how many because of my natural blonde shade. I can see them easier when I'm out somewhere with better lighting. I was pulling them out for a while, but my hair is already freakishly thin and sparse, so I really can't spare any. I'm not dying it, I'm trying to cut down on the product damage I've inflicted over my life and have "natural" hair for a change. Though I might change my tune if people start putting me at my real age (43) rather than guessing me to be in my mid-to late 20's as usually happens (which totally rocks my world, thanks for the great genes, Mom & Pop). I went to my 25th high school reunion this past September. The overall commentary was, "Oh my God, you haven't changed. You look incredible. How do you do it? I hate you." I have gained weight but overall, compared to my greying, wrinkled classmates, I'm doing pretty fucking good. Something in these pure Polish genes I guess - my whole family is like this and I'm grateful. Jon has been getting some in his temple area since his early 20's. At 33 now, his temples are VERY gray and he has some scattered here and there throughout the rest of his head. But he shows no sign of losing hair, so I try to reassure him it's ok (it bothers him).
  10. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and lots of love & laughter to everyone, especially you, Troy.
  11. Thanks for the efforts and expenditures, Troy. Again, sorry I don't have the $$ to help. I had to turn down several things I donate to this year and handmade most of our Christmas presents.
  12. Richard Tandy of ELO has always been one of my favorite keyboardists. He was the first keyboardist who made me want to do keyboard-heavy music. I at one time knew what he used, but that knowledge long left my brain. Skip to 1:57 if you want to get right to the man at work: Oh, and this - Jean Jacques Perrey rocks my all-time favorite, The Moog:
  13. Umm, I just noticed there were posts yesterday... ...was it just me? I've not been able to access DGN for days.
  14. Sorry to see the site down. Wish we weren't taking such a huge hit from the economy, or I'd pitch in for old time's sake so that wouldn't happen again.
  15. Anyone know if CC will be open the following nights: Friday, December 23rd Saturday, December 24th (Christmas Eve) Jon and I will be in town those nights and there's a very, very, very slight possibility I might want to go to CC while we're in town. Likely it would be Saturday night, after the family festivities are over (we do things up on the eve, not the day).
  16. I'm thinking this personalized Pez dispenser I'm making for my brother in law isn't coming out half bad.
  17. I have that theme on my MP3 player, in my "Showtunes" playlist. :D
  18. A) Easy. Good melody. Every type of music I like, from New Wave to Folk to EBM to you name it, has a strong melody. I'm not into noise. The lyrics can suck and if the melody is strong, I can dig it. Instrumentation is second. Q) What is your dream boxed set, real or imagined?
