  1. You can always substitute ground turkey for a more health-conscious chili. And watch the sodium content of anything you add.
  2. We-he-hellll... I sold it on Ebay as I was creating this post. So unless this is another non-paying bidder... ...NEVERMIND!
  3. Ebay keeps axing my listing. Apparently they don't actually allow the sale of tobacco-related items. A couple of these kits show up in completed, and some fool did a "buy it now" when I relisted the first time then backed out of paying. So it IS possible to get it sold, but I'm getting tired of relisting in hopes someone will just buy before it gets axed. Tried Craigslist and got flagged there, too. Apparently tobacco items aren't allowed to be sold there, either. Soo.... Here's the listing almost exactly as it appears on Ebay: Blu Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit with 12 refills. Includes everything shown - recharging pack, two batteries, two vaporizer units, wall charger, USB charger, pack charger (forgot to include in pictures), and 12 assorted flavors of full-flavor/strength refills - the equivalent of 12 packs of cigarettes. Note: This includes the older model refills which can actually be refilled with bottled refill liquids - there are YouTube videos to show you how do to this. This would save you a TON of $$. Also, the products sold at volcanoecigs dot com are supposed to be compatible with the Blu unit. Used for 2 months before owner quit smoking. There are 2-3 of each flavor left in each sample pack, totaling 12 refills. Excellent condition and ready to use. I'm a non-smoker but tried it all to make sure it works - I was tempted to keep this and get 0% nicotine refills, it was that enjoyable. Asking $60 plus shipping. Paypal payment only. Ships within 48 business hours of payment. Insurance included free of charge.
  4. They had me at bacon. Ok. Not really. But well, you know - BACON.
  5. Nothing anymore. The c-pap I've had for a couple months now has me sleeping a full night unless the cats get into it or I have had too much liquid intake during the day and have to pee a lot. But I can stay up too late if I'm reading a good book and having trouble making myself shut the covers. Prior to getting on the machine, I was up until 2-3:00 a.m., waking up every hour or so, up at 6:00 to get Jon off to work, then back to bed until 1:00. Now I'm sleeping a good 6+ hours before the alarm, then getting up again around 10:00, which is actually good for me.
  6. Do you really think a person eating such a diet is going to be free of health issues? The sodium content alone is astronomical. Then there's the fat, which is off the scale. Canned foods, frozen dinners = same thing. It's not impossible to eat healthy on food stamps. But you don't have to eat like you describe. So long as a person can saute any kind of meat, steam a veggie & boil a potato, they can do alright.
  7. June 24, 2009 Dear Diary: Squee! Just one more day before the wonderful technicians at the New You Labs help me reach my ultimate dream! LaToya and Tito are really happy for me. I wish I could say the same for Janet and Jermaine. I'd give my left nut (Tee hee! Too late! *SNORT!*) to see them realize how happy I'll be when this sketch is more than just an illustration. Oh - have to go. Dr. Murray's here to give me my sleep-sleep shots so I can get lots of rest and be ready for the birth of the ultimate Mi'Chele I've always known was inside me. (Tee hee! *SNORT!*)
  8. I can't find a picture of a Psycho Hose Beast sucking a defenseless person into the orbit of Planet Drama with her tractor beam. So here's an otter mamma showing us all her baby instead:
  9. Well, the sister responded. She's tried ecigs (probably not this brand) and didn't like them. So this post has kinda become moot - I'll be selling it instead of giving it to her. Might as well let the post stick, though - maybe others would appreciate some input. Actually, if I didn't need the $$, I'd consider keeping it and getting flavored, non-nicotine refills. I'm a militant anti-smoker, but I have enjoyed a few non-inhaled puffs of cloves when drinking. Even testing these to make sure they work wasn't entirely unpleasant.
  10. Picked up a Blu Starter Kit at a yard sale today for $5.00 with the intention of selling it on ebay (a couple have sold for $50-$60). I don't smoke. My sister, however, does. I have done a little research (including a quick and dirty search for prior posts here on DGN) to see what's up with cost, reliability, etc, in order to pass on information to her in case she'd like to give this a try (I owe her bunches so would give this to her instead of selling it). I would like some cold, hard, experienced input from people who have actually USED e-cigs. ESPECIALLY the Blu brand. Do they continue to work well? Are there problems one should consider before taking the plunge? Are they satisfying? Is the cost of refills a true benefit? If you HAVE used the Blu brand, have you tried refilling the cartridges? (There are videos on Youtube about this, as well as message board posts.) I read on a message board that VolcanoCigs refills and products are compatible with Blu. Have you given this avenue a try? Thanks.
  11. Somewhere back in the archives of DGN, I think I started a similar thread. I haven't read the posts here yet, just posting a quick reply. My husband and I are childfree by choice. I'll read the posts here and post a better response when I have time.
  12. OT, but related - the argument I tend to see from uber-conservatives is if your budget sucks, it's because you are lazy or made poor life decisions. Somewhat related to the discussion at hand, a teensy bit. That sort of viewpoint is one reason I stopped involving myself in discussions of topics like this. Not that I haven't tried offering evidence that that's not what a person's lot in life all boils down to. I have. But some people just don't want to believe not EVERYONE can make the American Dream happen for themselves just be deciding that's what they want to happen.
  13. Ummm... if you "feel" like you're using him for a free trip, I don't think you can "know" you're not. You need to decide if you CARE if you're using him for a free trip. If you are, that would suck. If you can live with that, that's one thing. But if you genuinely FEEL like you would be and that does NOT sit well with you, then don't do it. It just sounds like you have way too many doubts. You need to make a list of pros and cons and see which outweighs the other.
  14. If you plan to go ahead with this, do NOT go if you cannot manage to get yourself back home WITHOUT his help.
  15. That's a lot for us right now. Jon's making less than half he was a couple years ago, and I'm still not working. We wouldn't come SE for this event, but it's a class reunion and I am actually looking forward to seeing a couple people who will be there this year. Can't swing much more than gas & some expense money for the trip.
  16. That's the red I've used for the majority of my life here on DGN. But that was when the background was black. This blue might not work with it so very well.
  17. I'm capable of doing my own gel or acrylics. But it's a pain in the ass and I don't feel like the trouble. I was perusing the nail supplies at Walmart the other day and liked what I saw in the new generation of full press-on nails. They come with the option of using glue instead of the double-stick crap that never worked. I have an occasion coming up in Early September, and my toenails and fingernails look like crap. I was actually thinking about giving both a try. But I don't want to be mid-party and discover I've got 8 fabulous looking toes, and two decidedly unmatching eyesores. Likewise on the fingers. Have you used any of these? Are they any good? Should I gamble on them?
  18. I use the entire Revlon Colorstay line religiously. Their eyeliner is exceptionally rugged, and I strongly recommend it.
  19. I disagree with the stance that when it happens, it's all about dominance and not true homosexuality, but I don't feel like debating it. My Marty is our gay-cat-in-residence. He's this big, fluffy, blonde and his favorite boy-toy is Fletcher, a smaller orange tabby. He couldn't care less about any of the other cats - male or female. Fletcher pretty much isn't interested in Marty at all, except on the rare occasion when Marty straddles him, he can flip Marty, pin him down and pull clumps of his fur out and eat it. I'm proud of my big, gay cat son.
  20. The first house Jon and I moved into in North Carolina was this old, shoddy POS. Mice started running rampant all over the kitchen, even after we got Ripley, our first cat. We got a live trap. Set it under the sink. And promptly forgot about it. Even after Ripley started pawing at the cupboard under the sink frequently, we didn't remember the trap. Then came the smell. And both of us were mystified. "What's that smell? Where's it coming from?" I don't remember how we finally looked and found the trap. But to this day, I feel like absolute shit for buying a "humane" trap and then letting a mouse starve to death in it. :( I love mice. I've had two as pets. But I'm horribly allergic to their droppings and REALLY don't want them around my food. When we first checked out the house we're currently renting, there was a freshly dead one up on the fireplace mantle. My husband saw a little one in the front sunroom, but since the 11 cats have spread their smell all over, we haven't seen any others.
  21. My most prolific period was between 2001 and around 2005. I stopped posting little by little and then stopped altogether around 2007 maybe. I don't know any of the people you've mentioned. DGN has generations. :D I guess that makes me a Great Grandma. Anyway, I stopped posting for some reasons that would basically be complaints and I don't feel like rehashing past bullshit. But I also stopped posting because I've made it a point to stop living a virtual, online life and get more active offline. Message boards on the whole just have become a lot less important to me than they once were.
