Who are you online?

I've heard this several times, "Xxxx is a real ass online, but face-to-face s/he's completely different." I've also been told that it's impossible for you to be online who you are IRL.

I think that's utter horseshit. I can't speak for anyone else, but where I'm concerned, what you see is what you get.

If anything, I might strive to be more polite & tactful online than face-to-face, but I'm that way with anyone I consider an acquaintance vs. a friend. Until I meet you face-to-face, and further until I get to know you, I try to save the sarcasm and sometimes biting wit for when I can grasp that you'll understand it (I actually had a friend once who couldn't grasp sarcasm, so I'm careful with my use of it now).

I've recently been told that, for the most part, people create a different personna for who they are online. I don't quite get how a person can possibly not be "themselves". The concept is foreign to me - I can't possibly conceive of not being "myself," ever.

So, how about you? Do you differ wildly face-to-face from the way you portray yourself online?

I think i protray myself pretty close to what you will get IRL.

I too try to leave out sarcasm (unless it would be obvious), i dont often get my thought out correctly when i type so i am sure i look less intelligent, i try to stay away from confrontation on line alot more then i do IRL etc....

Basically you get what you see, maybe just more of it IRL.

I cant see how any one can be diffrent on purpose online then IRL, i know it happens but i just dont understand why or how.

I am I.........online or IRL, what you see is who I am. Sometimes I wear my heart on my sleeve and other times I am close guarded. Depends on my mood and how I feel about a person or subject. I am no different either way. If I feel a need to voice my opinion I will do it regardless if it's gonna make people like or dislike me. I am not looking to be popular with everyone or liked by everyone. I'm not trying to piss people off but it happens. That's how it is.

I don't try to be different online than how I am in real life, but I've been told that I tend to come off as bitchy online. I probably come off as an idiot online as well because I am so used to typing technical stuff for work that I forget how to type normal sentences. People have also told me that I seem "stiff" online, but irl I'm very laid back. I also tend to blab about being bi quite a bit online, and only a few people irl know that about me (and I never mention it). I suppose that's just because I feel more secure/less shy online.

I think there are some intrinsic differences between the internet and real life such as: on the internet you get more time to think about your response, and there's no inflection or body language to text.

Because of those reasons and others, I think it could sometimes be hard to tell how others perceive you online, even if you feel like you're portraying yourself normally.

Personally, I'm probably more shy in real life, in that I'm not so good at keeping up small talk and I don't like to initiate conversations with people I don't know very well

Online?

Magnify my egotism because I don't let my inferiority complex about being superior interfere.

Other than that any way you look at it I'm a proud Husband and Father, multi faith ordained anti idiot with a tiny dink. Of course nobody will ever be able to prove for themselves I got a small package.

Oh yea and I can never seem to finish verbalizing a thoug...

:wink

troy says online i am "quiet"..

and describing me is like 5 blind men trying to describe an elephant.. one blind man is noticing the hard feet.. one the warm mouth and teeth...

hehehe

i am online how i am irl.

on here, i respond i dont so much start conversations...

i am that way irl, also...

i like to listen to others first... and then i add my perspective after i have listened to theirs..

everyone has something to say, and they probably more often go unheard so i like to try to give others voice first..

(troy says "reserved" is a better word for me on here)

i am/have been known to be wild and bouncy and giggly and a bit of a "playfight-instigator" as well...

:wink

Well... I'm Dollar Dave online I've ran 3 different porn sites with my most recent being http://www.freebig-titvideos.com my income is derived from my websites so IRL I'm no different than online. I'm friends with all the high traffic adult site webmasters and been doing adult sites since about 2000. WYSIWYG basicly for me.

There are things of course that i dont share with people online. Personal issues that I dont really share with anyone .... sometimes not even close friends ive had for years. I guess what i really boils down to is .... are you comfortable with who you are? and its good that you are firece but some people just arent. I must say im not completly comfortable with myself, and there are things that I dont tell pepople, but i dont lie about myself either. Some things i just keep to myself.
