t1m3k1ll3r
ATTRITION Pioneers in a darker electronica...Carving out a unique slice of the creative underground for over two decades, fueled by a succession of critically acclaimed albums...selling over 50,000 to date...the band has toured all of Europe and North America, appeared at major festivals and had their music included on a number of film soundtracks.... Formed in 1980 by Martin Bowes and Julia Waller in Coventry, England, influenced by a mix of punk ideology and experimental art aesthetics, they emerged as part of the early '80's UK Industrial scene alongside contemporaries Test Department, Coil, Legendary Pink Dots (who at one time they shared studio/living space with), In The Nursery, Portion Control et al. Their music is an undefinable marriage of dark and light...of futures and pasts...probing unexplored sonic landscapes with an eclectic marriage of experimental and traditional sound, of electronics and acoustics, of male and female.... From its earlier sparse and stark soundscapes, to a more expansive palette of orchestral work, Attrition has successfully melded several genres into one. The music flows - from gothic to industrial to experimental to classical - so smoothly, they might as well be making their own category. "Attrition have always been a nexus of industrial fury, gothic drama, ambient structural finesse and classical chamber orchestrations. Stunning in scope, character and intellect, Martin Bowes has been a paragon of true creative prowess, holding in two hands the past and future of music, and smashing them together with a calculated and charismatic menace. Bowes builds his dark industrial music with all the compassion and attention to detail of a classical musician..." Entertaining, enchanting and subversive, they create mind-bending futuristic soundscapes, giving their listeners a sublime visceral experience. Combining intense artful electronics and voice with traditional instrumentation, their influences range from Skinny Puppy, to Dead Can Dance; Massive Attack, to Brian Eno. Their inventive live performances weave sound and video imagery together, creating an atmosphere that transports their audience to another world. Their sound is a collision of industrial gothic walls of substructure and experimental tactfulness. Laurie Reade (vocals/video) and Brian Green (composition/live instrumentation) have toured extensively, performing alongside bands including Clan of Xymox, Rasputina, and Wolfsheim. Exceptionally collaborative, High Blue Star can be heard on several compilations, and their music has sparked international collaborations with darkwave pioneers, Attrition, luminary composer/inventor, Mark Deutsch, and industrial supergroup, PIGFACE. Recently, Laurie performed guest vocals along with Tina Root (Switchblade Symphony) on The Last Dance song ?Wish me Closer? from their latest release, Once Beautiful. The first demo album, "Embryonic", was self-released in 1998, and Chiasm was signed to COP International records in 1999. The debut album on COP titled "Disorder" was released in 2001, and its track, "Isolated", has been featured on Paramount/CBS's television show "Navy:NCIS" as well as the PC game, "Vampire:The Masquerade -Bloodlines". In 2003, COP released her remix collaborative album, "Divided We Fall", in which Chiasm and labelmate TL5 each reinterpreted 5 of each other's tracks for a full-length album. Chiasm's most recent full-length album, "Relapse", was released on COP International in June 2005, and the newest release, a virtual EP available on iTunes titled "Prefrontal", in 2006. Emileigh takes pride in maintaining complete creative control over her project and enjoys the music process from start to finish. She is known to remix and collaborate with other artists when the interest arises, and is currently working on her next full length album, "Reform", to be available in 2007. t1m3k1ll3r
Should be a really good show. Also heard they are filming and recording dates on this tour for an upcoming live album. I was supposed to be there tonight, but since my check decided not to come this weekend I'm broke with no gas money to get there :( If anyone goes post a review! Homicidalheathen
God after the first show i didn't make it to this one. I stood up and almost passed out. I am soooo sick of these Detroit shows. Why wont someone pay for some damn air conditioning???? And might I say that art gallery was some crappy ghetto ass warehouse. With the worst art I have ever seen. A frisbee hanging by a string is art? I should have just went to this.
