  1. "Made in China" turns China into a superpower in the near future. And these people waste the chump with the shotgun.
  2. Underrated in America: Being single Zac Bissonnette Nov 5th 2008 at 4:00PM The advantages to having a marital partner are well-advertised: filing taxes jointly, sharing a home and other expenses, and not having to spend lavishly on cologne and Versace to impress members of the opposite (or same) sex. But pairing up also has its disadvantages, especially when it comes to money. Here are a few: * It's a well-known fact that issues over money are one of the leading causes of divorce. By staying single, you will never have to argue about financial priorities -- you can live frugally and save every dime you earn without having to worry about a spendthrift spouse blowing your money on designer clothing or a plasma television. * The tax issues: sometimes being married will save you money and sometimes it won't. It may also affect your ability to contribute to a ROTH IRA. * You and your spouse share liabilities: if your husband runs into trouble with the IRS or creditors, it can affect your credit and your home could end up with a lien on it. If your spouse has financial problems, they will become your problems. And best of all, staying single will help you avoid one of the most insidious destroyers of wealth creation known to man: children. All contents copyright © 2003-2008, Weblogs, Inc. 3. To paraphrase JFK, "Ask not who I have a crush on, but who has a crush on me."
  4. Cate and I toured this place last summer. It's in North Carolina. I don't think I'd buy it though if I could. I don't know what I'd do with that much.
  5. My dad played piano, trumpet, and was okay on a snare drum. All through grade school I was in the church/school choir which I enjoyed and was also forced to take piano lessons which I didn't hate but didn't really enjoy either. Sixth grade was my first time in a public school and I had the option of joining band. We had to be tested in three instruments of our choosing to see what we'd play. I chose trumpet because that's what my dad played and didn't do too great with it. I tried french horn next because it's kinda like a trumpet but looked cooler. I did really good with that and they told me that's what I should play. But I had one instrument remaining so I picked percussion. I failed my rhythm test miserably. I really, really wanted to play drums though so I convinced the band director to retest me. He finally agreed and I just barely passed. He didn't want to let me play percussion because I thought I'd do much better with the french horn but he could see drums were something I was passionate about so he let me. I was terrible when I started but my parents found me a really good private instructor. While all my friends were learning the whole drum kit from various rock guys, my instructor was an old jazz drummer and trumpet player (maybe that's why my dad picked him) who made me hammer out rudiments on pads. I didn't even learn on real drums, just pads. It sure paid off though. From someone who failed my rhythm test the first time and barely passed the second, I worked my butt off and developed a great sense of rhythm in multiple time signatures and have great syncopation. While there is still much more I want to learn, I'm happy that I can drum circles around most guys who were better than me when we started. So, I really don't know why I picked drums other than my dad brought a snare home from church once to practice and I thought it was cool. But having a passion for it and having a great instructor made all the difference. Now as to why I want to learn violin? Two words: Rachel McDonnell. Although I'm sure my Celtic roots has something to do with it as well and Ashley MacIssac is certainly inspiring.

  7. Okay, you're allowed back in the club house now.
  8. Hey, that's not meat. That's vegi-burgers. We've been infiltrated by a vegetarian! Quick, get her! Those are damn good though.
  9. I'm pretty good at playing CDs and MP3s.
  10. Well it is a simple alpha-numeric substitution cipher after all. Here's the same name using a ROT13 Caesar Cipher: ZVANEBFR
  11. Sure we do; it's a city in New York. Damn good hot sauce originated there. As far as my favorite meat: YES!
  12. Good point. I've been playing drums (arguably one of the easiest instruments to learn) for just over two decades and spent years learning through private study and I still don't know everything I want to.
  13. Actually, you'd be single all the time because why tie yourself down with just one woman when so many options are available. You could have a different one each week.
  14. All those look awesome but I probably wouldn't eat half the stuff in there.
  15. I took a few years of piano as a kid. Can't remember much though except the basics. I've been playing drums for a couple decades and learned from an old jazz guy who was a stickler for rudiments so I got pretty damn good if you ask me. Haven't played in a while though as there's no room to set up my kit. I also sing fairly well, baritone. Someday I'd like to learn violin and maybe bass.
