  1. Ah. Your response made it seem like you edited it to the incorrect title. I'm listening to "Monkeyland" by the Chameleons.
  2. He's actually saying "I am the son and the heir (of a shyness that is criminally vulgar)." And the song is called "How Soon Is Now?" I'm listening to "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death from Above" by CSS.
  3. I can definitely understand one's desire to lose some weight. Just do me one favor and be healthy about it...I recall seeing a slightly too-skinny Troy back before his hermitage began, still thinking he needed to lose a bit, and it made my heart hurt. Be good to yourself, young man.
  4. Oh my god. What a horrible, horrible, juvenile idea. I hope this is either a joke, or the "founder and CEO" (CEO of a website??) is still in high school and doesn't know any better than to allow statements like, "Gothics wish not to be feared; only understood. Goth Help Us is simply about serving humanity worldwide and changing perception through charitable action." She makes it sound like goths are some kind of militant underground secret sect. The slogan of the site is "Serving Humanity from the Underground Up." Also, whomever wrote that part of the site puts semicolons where commas should go. Stone them! That would definitely make the "mission statement" and the bit about a "founder and CEO" make sense. Still, though, I don't enjoy the broad statements about how "all gothics want to help" or whatever.
  5. Troy, bless you for throwing in "What Is Love?" by Haddaway.
  6. There seems to be a disembodied foot over on the right edge of the picture....
  7. She didn't do it in a "we have to label this genre" kind of way, the story goes that it was more of a throwaway statement she made when an interviewer asked how she would describe the sound on the Banshees', at the time new, album. Not sure which, but I'd wager a guess that it would have been Join Hands. Yes, it's probably better we don't start a new thread, since this type of discussion is currently infesteing about 4 different topics anyhow. Back on-topic: I'm wondering if there should be a thread specifically for DGN radio song wants and hopes, or can this one be morphed into that? Troy's call, I suppose, since it's his thread (and his project).
  8. Antony doing his beautiful rendition of Leonard Cohen's "If It Be Your Will."
  9. The big awesome patent leather boots I picked up from Critter last night, red and black horizontally striped tights, a black tanktop with tiny red polka-dots and red trim, and a black terrycloth-ish sweater over top. Kinda gothed out for work...but no makeup!
  10. Yeah, there's really no contesting that Siouxsie and her Banshees were an important part of post-punk/goth rock history. After all, it is the lovely Sioux who's (depending on whose story you want to believe) credited with coining the phrase "goth" to describe music. Hey, speaking of Throbbing Gristle, Troy, it'd be cool if you could manage to put up some of their...more accessible(?) songs, like United or Adrenalin or Subhuman. I'd dig it, and I'll bet I'm not the only one. :D
  11. Siouxsie and the Banshees. Another important band.
  12. As a pet? I hear they're sweet.
  13. I need to see that guy!! I have MCare insurance! My therapist is a nice lady, but we have yet to talk about Ian Curtis.
  14. Initially I was here because my parents were, and I had lost my job and totaled my car within about a month of each other in Georgia, and had no other choice but to come and live with them in Michigan...I also needed out of a bad living situation, so in a weird way, getting laid off and having my car plowed into by a semi (I wasn't in it) was kind of a good thing. And now I'm here because that's where my friends and Drew are. (Well, I have friends in Georgia, too, but there's no Drew there.) I don't think we'll live here forever after we get married, though, but for now, it works.
  15. Haha! "The Good Son" NC & the BS
