  1. Good. I hope he is made to. This is ridiculous. It's besides the point that they could easily get it signed by someone else. It's a huge indignity and insult to them to have to, and I really hope this guy is out of office within a month.
  2. Damn this is gonna be a great night. I will *definitely* be there. XD
  3. Must...go...no matter how tired... ::makes mental note:: T_____T
  4. Sorry I didn't make it out last night. Just didn't feel up to it. I gave my ticket to a friend from work - but that was awesome because I found a new person who has similar tastes in music! :D I hear it was an awesome show. Thanks so much even though I suck and didn't go.
  5. SWEET you convinced her to come out? KICKASS!!! :D:D:D EDIT: Just realized this is the night of the The Damned concert!! So I'll be there after that! :D:D
  6. :hides: Don't ever look at my entry in the "your creations" forum then.... -.-;; I admit I am guilty of using this one. But sometimes it is appropriate. When you are making the item with a certain person in mind and crafting it to them and thinking of them while making it and hoping they will enjoy using it/wearing it, it is made with love, and you can sense it. When you are making something and you are falling more and more in love with it with every stitch and every snip, and it's just coming together like a work of magic into something more beautiful than you'd imagined...somehow I can't keep myself from using this phrase in this instance. I try to keep myself from using such cliched phrases as much as possible, but I cannot help it sometimes.. T__T
  7. Just for the record and for the curious... Most of these items are for sale or reproducible if already sold (many are sold). The pumpkin skirt, houses skirt, and velveteen overskirt are $80 each. The 3 tier Trick or Treat skirt is $120. The skeleton hands piece is $20. Bows are $15/pair. Floral hairpieces are $20. Currently the houses skirt is sold, the pumpkins skirt and trick-or-treat are pending/likely sold, and the velveteen has been sold and I've actually taken orders for a couple more to be made. I have more fabric of the houses and pumpkins and plan to get more for the overskirts, so those are available. The Trick or Treat one I'm not sure...it was a lot of work and I don't know if I want to make another. Also don't know if I can get anymore fabric because the store I go to is sold out. XD Skirts can be made longer/shorter per your request. In general they run about 50cm / 20inches long. The waist is partially elastic for comfort and wiggle room in the fit, and by default fits about a 65-90cm (26-36") waist (natural waist, smallest part, not hips/low waist), but this can be made smaller or larger as well. (The actual stretch is actually more like 60-105cm, but you don't want it to not be stretched at all on, because it will be too loose, and it has to fit over your head, so chances are it couldn't go on at a 105cm waist because the shoulders would be too big, plus it wouldn't be comfortable.) Probably most people here aren't really interested, since it's not quite the typical style around here, but I just thought I'd throw the prices on as well just in case!
  8. Luckily I actually had a good time on Saturday. I'm glad. It feels like it's been a while. >.>
  9. The "regular black netting" is just tulle, super cheap at any Joanns. The skull fabric is also from Joanns, but you'd better get it before Halloween, they're likely to take it off the shelves after. (Though if you time it right it may go on sale for a couple days after Halloween before they take it away...not sure. I'm hoping so tho!!).
  10. I would hope that people who don't like this would hold it against the committee and not Obama. It's not his fault they chose him. He didn't ask for it or want it. Imagine one day waking up and being told that YOU had won it. Not having done ANYTHING. (A silly analogy I know but still.) Would it be your fault? Would you want everyone hating you for something you didn't have anything to do with? The committee is smoking the good stuff apparently, but that's not Obama's fault.
  11. I do, but only stuff along these lines (lolita and related/similar). So I can make skirts, dresses, bows, hairpieces, etc, but I can't make a long jackets or suits or pants, etc. Well, not so much that I *can't* ability-wise, but more that I don't enjoy doing it and it takes me a long time because I don't do it often, and I'm pretty full up with commission work for the lolita stuff, so I *don't*. My website is www.kinkikitty.com with a (slightly outdated) photo gallery and info about custom work, and I'm on ArtFire (like Etsy/eBay for handmade) as TheOsakaKoneko, where I have some of the above items for sale.
  12. They're both resignation, and can be said in either tone of voice, can't they? I hear "it is what it is" in a resigned tone a lot as well as a more optimistic "let's deal with it" type of mood...same with shikata nai / shou ga nai (technically what I said but either way). Can be in a sighing voice or with a looking/moving-forward attitude.
  13. Thanks!! <3 All made in the last month, with the 1 exception of the autumn leaves hairpiece which was made in mid August for a certain DJ's birthday. XD I've made a couple other things in there as well but I wanted to keep this kinda Halloween themed so I didn't include them (granted the hairbows and such aren't really Halloween-y but oh wells). I actually just finished the 3 tier Trick-or-Treat skirt, the transparent flocky velveteen skull skirt, and the longer pumpkin skirt all last night. (I didn't MAKE them all last night, just FINISHED them. The pumpkin one was almost done, the trick-or-treat one was kinda almost done, and the skull one was halfway done.) It was still a very productive night. XD (I'm tired and sleep deprived now!! XD)
  14. Don't understand the problem with 'it is what it is' and 'at the end of the day'...but okay. Maybe I'm just used to those because I hear them in meetings so much. One guy at Ford uses them like exclusively every single time I see him like a million times...never bothered me though. I find myself saying it now ("It is what it is", I mean). It reminds me of the Japanese しょうがない which means "can't be helped", but more natural, so I find myself using it where I'd use しょうがない in Japanese. I find myself thinking in the wrong language sometimes so it's nice to have these good more-or-less equivalents I can easily remember to replace it when I'm about to accidentally speak the wrong language. XD
  15. I've been on a sewing and crafting storm lately! I thought I'd share some creations with you. I loooove Halloween so I've been very much in the spirit of the season, crafting all sorts of fun things. Do you like Haunted Houses? How about a bright orange skirt? With some coordinating hairbows? Or are you more a Pumpkin Patch kinda person? I actually made 2 like this, one shorter and poofier with ricrac (cutesy-er) (above) and one longer and more subtle (below). Pair this with some cute fat orange bows, or some black ones like above? Are you a big fan of seeing the little kiddies in costumes and trick-or-treating? This one just has to have the orange ribbon bows to match all the ribbon on the skirt! Or are you a more elegant Halloween fan? Step away from the cute-sey and choose a maturer gothic look instead! This skirt is actually transparent so it can be worn on any color underskirt for different looks! (Or even without an underskirt for a scandalous look!) This goes great with a fancy skeletal hairpiece or cravat brooch! Halloween/Autumn Hairpiece! More subdued Halloween colors? I've also made a bunch of other hairbows! And some hair corsages!
  16. I agree. This is really weird. It feels really premature, shines a light on how liberal the committee is, and cheapens the idea of the prize. I like Obama but I still think it's far too early to judge if he deserves something like this...and this should NEVER go to someone who is not 100% worthy.
  17. But the point isn't that "obviously everyone would think of being with another girl and being with another guy as the same" - that's not the case. Everyone is different - I think that's most of what this whole thread is about at this point! It's more that...can you also not understand how anyone could perceive them as the same? If I was dating someone and he went with another guy or with another girl, either way I'd feel betrayed and that it was cheating. If I were bi, I would feel the same about going with another girl as with another guy, that is was cheating. If my boyfriend was cool with it and knew, then it's not cheating, but if he doesn't, it is. For either another girl or guy - is the relationship open or isn't it. I can appreciate that you feel differently about it. There's no wrong or right. I'm just saying I understand her boyfriend's pov, and I am surprised that anyone would be surprised at it (inc the girlfriend). I think considering it cheating is closer to the status quo than not.
  18. Actually, I got that that's what you meant, since that's exactly what you said. What I'm saying is that I don't understand how him being with another guy is any different than him being with another girl. I have a feeling he doesn't see any difference between you being with another guy and you being with another girl.
  19. I don't really understand..would you consider it cheating if he was with another girl? If you just want an open relationship, then that makes some sense - you want open, he doesn't. That simple. But if you think it's cheating if it's mxf but not mxm or fxf, I don't get it. He can't get pregnant if he's with a girl either, so...by your logic that wouldn't be cheating?
  20. Not sure when it was announced but my friend's been planning to go for at least a couple days!
