If we do follow through with it ( i was hoping if i could make it more then just a party it would have a better chance of happening) I was looking atOct Fri 21 or sat oct 22. I thought that would be close enough to hallowen and avoid all the city club halloween stuff too.  I should let you know I am located in Roseville that might effect your plans or thought  too. IF we can work something out for the week end i mentioned that would be great, if not no biggie, just though if we combined the two event we might both have a better chance of having a success. 

Let me know if you think this might work for you.

You do realize that it's illegal to sell absinthe in the US, right? Also, is Saephyr's absinthe something she concocts at home and distributes to friends, or is it something that's actually on the market elsewhere in the world? If it's not commercial absinthe, aren't you running a major risk by having it available at the Lab? Just something to think about...

You could always do it at the Lab if wanted. Ask Ron or I could for you

Homebrew may be in shady territory and possibly OK, but most people I know who either *ahem* import or make their own, tend to keep the whole thing quiet and at private parties. If I were the Lab I would be careful about hosting something where illegal substances were being promoted. Particularly something homemade, if anything happens to anyone they might be liable for a lawsuit or something.

Another thing to consider for those who don't know, absinthe *seriously* incapacitates you, so nobody drinking the stuff should drive afterwards. Most people I know can't even stand up. Some people I know have tried it once and vow never to do it again-- so be prepared.

"It is likely legal in the US to produce absinthe for one's personal use using commercially available distilled liquor and infusing one's own herbs into the alcohol, although any thujone-containing drinks are illegal to sell or distribute."

But I think this should be held at a place where people could crash, because I don't think it would be smart to partake and then drive home.

Absinthe made with wormwood--either outside of the US commercially OR in someone's basement--is indeed illegal to sell in the US. It was banned in the US in 1912. Is "Absinthe America" Saephyr's brand of absinthe?

I drove home from the Zebra Room in Windsor after partaking in 1 and a half shots of Absinthe. I had more to drink besides that. I would not recommend that experience (driving after drinking absinthe) to anyone.

I don't know how I talked those border guards into letting me through.

everything i know about absinth goes along with what cheez-its says. at least if your talking about *real* absinth. its definitely ILLEGAL. if people are gonna do this, i'd suggest keeping that in mind. people do illegal stuff all the time, but its probably best not to be too open about it.

ive also seen people on drugs that are more functional than what they were after drinking absinth. i probably wouldnt recommend leaving out a punch bowl full of the stuff-- people might end up in the hospital. no joke.

:grin Excuse me. I have a business license and I sell on the web WORLDWIDE AND I have letters of approval from the FDA, DEA and ATF.

Nope.

Try AGAIN dear. We don't sell the ALCOHOL which is what IS illegal. We sell the essences to create your own absinthe from our distillery in Orlando, Florida. I HAPPEN TO WORK FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND HAVE LOOKED INTO ALL OF THIS. So do/believe or think what you will.

YES..most people drinking it for the 1st time 'over-do' it & should NOT be driving anyplace. Same can be said for any booze people. :nut

If this is going to become a legal question then present it to me on my website at http://www.absintheamerica.com and I'll take care of all your concerns. i don't appreciate this kind of negative attention in a group where I'm respected and cared for...at least by some. :whistling

hi Saephyr,

in the discussion about absinthe, i just wanted to make sure that you werent mad at me or anything. i know you did reply to things cheeze it said, not to things i said, so maybe im just paranoid... but i know from experience that people quite often misinterpret my tone of voice and "motives" when i speak on the interenet.... so i want to explain myself just in case.

i dont know cheeze its, and i dont know if he meant anything "negative" against you, i didnt think he did. but like i said i dont know him, so i suppose anything is possible. i didnt read it that way though, for whatever its worth...

all i know is, * I* meant nothing negative against you. i dont know you, i have nothing against you, all i was doing was stating neutral comments about what i knew and what i would be concerned about if i was a club owner.

nobody has to listen to me, i am just one random human. and i am definitely *not* a respected person of any sort.

I probably shouldnt have spoken, since i know nobody ever understands anything i say, and everyone on the internet and at clubs usually gets mad at me since they never understand me...... sorry for causing problems. i will erase any comments i made , and stop intruding on other peoples conversations.

i swear i didnt mean any harm. best of luck

I was merely bringing up some legitimate questions and concerns. It would be illegal if anyone planned on selling absinthe with wormwood at the Lab. I didn't know if the gentleman who suggested having the party at the Lab knew about any risks he might be taking. I knew someone who got inot trouble for selling real absinthe "under the counter" at a bar in New Orleans. Many people who have never tried absinthe might not know about its history or its very intoxcating effects.
