Gardening, for Bats of All Ages

Recommended Posts

Here I come, with my OG blitz kid cottagecore!

Didn't we already used to have a thread, for this? I could have sworn it. I'd add some photos of this summer's beautiful tomatoes, as dark as our hearts - but all of my images exceed the maximum file size.

I search gardening, farming, and homestead with six total pages of results (two for each.) I even searched Joel/@Detroitgoth's posts since I know he homesteads but apparently he hasn't posted much.

The only thing that I found that even comes close is:

But that's more general yard/landscaping and not gardening specific.

I have 3 things my finches are eating right now

I have successfully grown California poppy 3 yrs it came back against winter zoning so thats good

another plant growing out of zone

not as good as my mom was at this but I'm getting there

cross poliating some seeds ect

2 blooming out of season

I like my Franken flowers

I have milkweed and have butterfly weeds/flowers of various types

I now get every kind of swallowtail and monarchs come to my yard

monarchs are thought to carry the souls of the dead

and are poisonous.

Black "MarAzúl" tomatoes (a rare Spanish variety) - and a fasciated blossom from "Adelaide Festival" (a dwarf, colourfully striped beefsteak), which is sure to become a monster fruit! I'm growing those, "Efemer" (a rare Ukrainian variety), "Rosella Purple" (another dwarf, but purple), and "Cosmic Eclipse" (a stripey salad tomato), for autumn and winter.

I need to know if this little guy/gal is dangerous. @jynxxxedangel, your thoughts?

She's a common cross spider, Araneus diadematus. Absolutely harmless. You can move her to a better place, similar to where she is, if you don't like the place she's chosen. I can't guarantee that you won't see more bugs in the house, in her absence, though. 🙂

so I revamped my yard

I have less ornamental but.

I am being coached by someone...

no longer planting for bugs

but

that WAS fun!

native weeds basically I had such interesting insects!

now I plant

for the song birds and butterflies

I have

blue Jay's cardinals finches monarchs

plant for the wild life and

give back a little

your STRAY cats

are killing our song birds

your urban sprawl

is killing our monarchs.

take for instance baby girl across the street

she got rid of the puppy

to much hands on work

cats are more independent

you don't want to clean the liter box

so

you let It out

with claws in tact.

declawing is indeed horrible

but

unless you have a barn full of horses n rats

keep your goddamn cat in.

Domestic cats kill 2.4 billion songbirds each year in the United States. Americans own about 86 million cats, or one cat for every three households.Apr 21, 2023

Iits not just about you, is it?
