Other Than Akira I've not heard of any of them (which isn't saying much since i stopped regularly watching anime around 1996)

Don't compare Bubblegum Crisis to the plethora of what is being produced now.

If you know that you can't make a good looking anime if you haven't learned the lessons of Akira.

There is a special place in my heart for Akira and what it did to animation world wide but as far as story goes I can eviscerate it. Hell, it is actually the worst story on Zuleika's list.
