the visigoths ended up in spain. the ostrogoths in italy. and a ton of other tribes all over central europe. but thats neither here nor there, as they intermixed pretty well with both the celtic tribes and the romans, as well as the eastern peoples driven west by the advances of the huns. but thats all over 1500 years ago. alot has changed in that time. the historical goths have NOTHING (lest repeat that, for clairity) NOTHING to do with todays 'gothic' subculture. if anything, it probably hearkens back to gothic architecture, which refers to 12th to 14th century cathedrals, which in turn only got the term 'gothic' in retrospect by renaissance scholars who looked back and labled it so with the historical misconception of 'goths' inhabiting central europe, where a great deal of gothic style cathedral building had taken place. the reference, then, being drawn between a 'goths' so-called 'spooky' look and penchant for gloomy settings and fantastic creatures and the gargoyles and other works of art which commonly adorned the exterior of said cathedrals.

1st, he was austrian. 2nd, he was the friggin chancellor. id say he was pretty 'german'. as german as any other person born and raised in germany.

2nd, yes, the german people were victims of the 3rd reich, but many were also supporters and a good deal more silent enablers for turning a blind eye. the rest of the world also joins this party as they stood by until '39 while hitler consolidated power and made early advances. it took the germans invading poland and messing with british trade, as well as signing treaties with russia to provoke opposition. we all know what happens after that, though it took americans a good deal longer to give a damn.

the nazis are a part of german history, like it or not. theyve learned to deal with it pretty well. no reason you cant.

Psycrow, please be reminded that as you have so eloquently stated, we are indeed in America which entitles us all to our own opinion. If you do not like people wearing skirts, especially of the pink variety, you very much have the right to say so. If you don't like what people wear to City Club, you certainly have the right to that opinion whether we like it or not.

Please remember, though, that if you come here to DGN and and slam the places that we go and the people that we hang out with, yes, our members are going to get defensive. We like our community, who is in it and how it is managed. Most all of us know each other in some way whether it's through IM, real life or just meeting up at City Club.

Everyone has their own opinion of what is and is not Goth and everyone is entitled to that. If you feel that our perception of what is Goth is wrong, feel free to start a thread in the appropriate forum and while giving factual information and putting forth our perceptions about the topic, we can all discuss it like the adults we are.

However, this thread is for the City Club aftermath this weekend; not what is Goth and what is not. If you feel the need, please PM me or e-mail me and we can discuss this.

Saturday did seem to be a ass grabbing night. I had a great time not only was i am victim i also participated. Sorry for posting so many days afterwards but after the club i got two hours of sleep and worked a nine hour shift then came home helped out around the house and spent the evening with morbid suicide only to wake up late today and get a late start of things. I just now got a chance to get on the computer.

CC General comments

Had a very fun time despite accidentally taking (for the first time ever, as im uber-careful with medication, almost obsessively so, as i hate taking pills) the wrong medication pre-CC and it mixing with the alcohol. Basically i just got >way=) I apologize whole heartedly for my irresponsiblity. Feel pretty bad about it actually.

Neptunebaby to the rescue. =) Hopefully I'll be able to return the favor at some point. Damn that smokey mine shaft known as CC. *hug*

Was very nice to see you all again, and i hope everyone is doing well. A few people seemed especially down Saturday night , just try to keep your chin up! *concerned look* If anyone needs to talk I am, as always, available to lend an ear or a shoulder. And i do answer my email/pm messages, it just sometimes might take me awhile.
