DGN Sick Call

Junior's school called off today, & TOMORROW...

...they said it was because so many teachers & students are ill.

..I know, it's no laughing matter...but,

I called in sick once...............it was great.

Oh, and I got paid for the day on top of that..............that was even greater.

I get 40 hrs sick time paid from work, if I get sick, I use it. If not, then at the end of the year, I get it all in my year end check !

That is one of the unfortunate realities of living in a "at-will/right to work state"; your boss can fire you if he/she doesn't like the way your hair is combed on any given day, and you'd have no recourse if something like that were to happen.

Actually, if I were a regular employee, the union would have something to say about that. No, I'm just a temp in a part-time position and there are about 50 people who would be happy to take over my temp spot if I can't make it even just one day.

If I called in sick Kohls would fire me on the spot...I guess I am the only guy that can unload the truck by myself...even though the job calls for at least two people for safety and such...oh well. Too bad I am not a state employee that can call in "not feeling like working today" and still get paid.
