Yep.. Though their may be a few cool people that go there now... The Club used to be filled to the max w/ all of the most awesome of peoples..

To be quite honest, I don't even really like going that much any more... As of late, I have much preferred going to various shows on my weekends out, rather than spending time in that hole of a "has been" club.

Im kinda praying we can make the Lab cool again!

Johnny's a great guy and I can respect what he's done there. But, man, the era when Blackie and/or Bobbie ran the place were the best! Of course, when Lisa & Kelly were managing The Lab during the SPAG era were great, too! :wink

Seems kinda defeatist to sit whining about a has-been club...it's up to the patrons to bring it back. No management can make a good club. No need to be all negative... I'm new and I never saw it "back when it was cool zomg", I only know it now, but it's pretty cool now, you know? No use talking about "back in MY day when I used to walk 20 miles up and down snowy Lodge freeway mountains without a coat...kids these days..." :p

I'm not very eloquent here but hopefully my point is clear. :wink

hahaha Never realized that was Bowie but that would explain why I've always liked it so much. XD

Awwww TSK, I wish you were around 10 yrs ago.

As with all things times have changed.

As everything else in life, City Club has evolved with time.

Being the only club of our kind to be continueously open for over 24 years has not been easy.

We are proud to be a living part of Detroit's history as we look forward to the future.

In our future I can see nights where our Guests can come out and hear a larger variety of the tunes they love to dance to.

I can see that soon, especially since our DJ's are all well versed at keeping our Guests dancing till 4:30am EVERY WEEKEND ! ! !

For those who missed our DJ's playlist for this past Saturday, here is a snippet:

City Club Playlist: 06.06.09

DJ’s = Jon Noble & Elektrosonik

--- 3:00 am ---

DJ Elektrosonik

Project Pitchfork - Timekiller

Scooter – Lass Uns Tanzen

Faderhead – Dirtygrrrls Dirtybois (Modulate Mix)

Covenant – Call the Ships to Port

Icon of Coil - Shelter

Praga Khan – Breakfast in Vegas

Cruxshadows – Marilyn My Bitterness

Peter Murphy – Cuts You Up

Out Out – Admire the Question

Sisters of Mercy – This Corrosion

Nine Inch Nails – Get Down Make Love

I personaly LOVE variety, though for me, tunes form like 2003 are not OLD SCHOOL, LOL ! ! !

Keeping in mind that our GUESTS requests are a huge part of our nights, make your voice heard and request a couple of songs.

And when the DJ's PLAY THE SONG YOU REQUESTED, GET UP AND DANCE TO IT ! ! !

I have seen this several times, when someone asks for a song, and as it gets played that person goes away, what a waste . . . .

I miss DJ J9 and all of the tunes she turned me and sooo many other onto, and K8 and GERRI GIRL workin in the diner, the parking structure, the gazebo in front of the stage, and the swimming pool, good times.

I also miss the tooo long list of Friends who have either died, moved away, or moved on. YOU are always welcome back to your home away from home.

I do not miss the unfenced and unpaved old parking lot - bad times.

I'm gonna assume you meant TOK. And not some other mysterious person. ;)

I wish I'd been around too! Especially for the parking structure...OH the stories I have heard!!!

But life goes on, life goes on...even when we miss things, there are still wonderful things left. We must appreciate what we have in the moment or we will be forever lamenting the past's passing and never have any fun! Much as I miss where I was 3 years ago today, I like where I am today today just the same! It is wonderful to look back and say "those were good days" as long as we don't lose sight of these days being pretty goddamned great too! :D

Sonic will always play some great old favorites for us...tho once in a while it would be nice to hear them before 3am! XD haha..

Luv you "Leland City Club", both the actual one and the mouthpiece! Hope to see you this weekend since I was in Chitown last! XD

There used to be a a small medieval room where the now smeg coated bed is ,it was so nice just to go in there and sit down, and yeah patio furniture used to be on the stage awhile back as well.

Yeah.. That spot up front was cool.. I used to pick up my drunk people from there all the time.. It was like a safe deposit box for drunks :hrhr:

Ya know... I'm generally very good w/ change... I welcome it really..

I just wish Club still felt like a safe haven is all.. I am a freak on display every day & It was nice to have somewhere to go and feel "normal" for a few hours a week. *sigh*

I still love ya CC

I'm just not 'in love' like I used to be

has anyone noticed that TheGimp mentioned a hidden jukebox TWICE and no one's said anything about it?!?!?! :p

I knew where it was...I was bitchin' for it to come back!

Maybe if we blared The Misfits (like in the old days) the "douche-populous" would be "un-nerved" & we would not have to listen to our Ladies & Girls bitch & moan about being groped every other time they walked in there.

...& I still blame Liz Vicious...

why do you blame her? lol oh I know you were, but no one responded to what he had actually posted lol :)

..'cause if you put Gothic Porn into a search engine...you will undoubtedly arrive at a place called "Goth Bang"...(oOps..it is not Liz Vicious on that site{but she ain't helpin'}).....whell, this is a site where this deranged lil' slut with NO CLASS..walks up to 3-7 prep/jock/fake-assed-gangbangers...& she lets them all fuck her...well...however they want...the hair pulling, cock choking..up the butt...callin' her a slut, whore, bitch (& worse)...all the while she is SO into the degradation...& the site is linked EVERYWHERE that sais "GOTH" & "PORN"...

...now...not to say that I am not into such things...but you know what...she sold the goth image for a few $ & now ya'll pay more than that...now..when ever THESE BOYS (read douchebags) see you all...they see her...Gee..I wonder why so many will be so bold now-a-days...not enough bloody noses & black eyes anymore...

I didn't like the Jukebox! I hated it! Miserable thing really, and they didn't have good music in it! If they had things that weren't country, etc. I would be perfectly happy to see it back.

I've bitched at Larry and Garfield when people attempt to play rap at the bar. Seriously, WTF? I come for the atmosphere, really- not kidding, and to meet new people, but playing music that doesn't fit fucks the whole vibe over.

I've also balked about the friggin goofy skeletons, and lamely offered to paint something new. I will, if given the oppertunity. It would take me a while to figure out what I feel would set the appropriate mood.

Now, the tourists.... If you talk to the tourists- they'll come back. I generally ignore them, and I have personally dressed every new person I bring, so they don't come up to the club wearing inappropriate things. I've bitch slapped tourist that tried to flirt unsuccessfully with me. No self respecting goth girl would bother with a bloody tourist.

Fun? How the heck do you not have fun at city? I hear people say they don't have fun all the time. I haven't figured that one out, but I am my own personal party while at city. Go say hi to some new people. Hell, find me- I'll just randomly start introducing you to people. You'll have fun, but I'm hard to follow around- I am randomly inspired to lunge myself at the dancefloor and jump around like a deranged monkey on speed. Truly, that's amusing... People watching has always been fun... Like an outfit- gosh darn it- tell the person, they spend lots of time and energy and money on these things. (unless you're me, I'm cheap) I friggin love City! It's my favorite little shithole!
