I just got a phone call from Cafe Sushi to confirm our reservation. They said they won't accept separate checks from such a large group. I don't know how we're going to go about this...

Hmm...that's a good question...I'm sure there'll be a pretty big range in dollar amounts spent too, since I'm sure some people will eat a lot and drink sake too while others not so much, so a straight split based on number of people might not be so good. :/ I am not sure...

Everyone just needs to make sure that they have proper change for their meals, drinks, and tips. I used to run a restaurant. We didn't do separate checks, but were more than willing to give change to those who needed it.

I'm not sure making sure everyone has proper cash is as big a problem as figuring out who owes what...though both could be tricky. ;)

But you love us long time, right?

Two dolra make you holra!

And I don't think the Rev means spring rolls either. LOL :whip

I'm guessing dragon roll?

Actually no. It's their way to make up for the fact that they are five-minute wonders. :p

First hand experience?

I think she means if you order something and share with the group type of thing.

Everyone orders something, they pay for it but then they share it? The more you buy the more you get stuff shared with you...

Yeah. Nevermind.

Okay. I can see that as well. However, Jeff and I are ordering a beverage or two. Everyone else is eating. I was thinking along the lines of people paying for what they ordered....

I just noticed the sub-title of this thread has the word "cross-referenced" in it. That's totally a librarian phrase. lol

I don't think it means what you think it means.

I purposely threw that in there to see if anyone would pick up on it. I was cataloging books at work when I made this thread.

I also just slipped a calculator into my purse.

I always have 2 calculators with me. One is on my cell phone, but I rarely use that one in favor of the other.

The other is ::gasp:: my brain!! hahaha ;)

Though I find that the longer I have it, the less well it works... What's up with that? I wonder if I can take it in to get it repaired...where's that warranty document..?

Three ways:

A) Everybody bring lots of cash and in small bills. Estimate what you think you might spend, then double it and bring at least that much cash. Don't forget tip too. But, many times with large groups an establishment will automatically add tip so keep that in mind so you don't double tip them.

2) Tell them if they are willing to give a separate check to everybody, then we will order lots of food and tip handsomely. If they cannot separate checks for us, then it's nothing but water and socializing all night.

Finally) Somebody with math skills keeps track of what everyone orders, pays for the whole thing with his/her credit card, and gives each of us a separate bill payable in cash or check.

I like idea #2 the best.

I imagine we'll be going with #1. But I really like #2.
