DGN @ City Club, Saturday, August 16th

Come. Join us. Meet us. Hang out. We're not that scary in person, really.

Leland City Club

400 Bagley Street

Downtown Detroit

You enter by going through an unmarked door on the First Street side of the Ramada Hotel building, located at 400 Bagley Street in downtown Detroit. The club is at the top of the stairwell. (see picture in the link above in the DGN calendar entry)

All are welcome. Come meet some of us weirdos.

Saturday nights from 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Alcoholic drinks until 2:00 a.m., pop and juices served all night.

Admission is $4

18 and up, 21 to drink with proper ID (no exceptions).

No drugs, weapons, chains or spikes.

We've had reports that the CC parking lot will not break $20 bills or larger, so try to bring smaller bills with you.

Zoom able map to City Club.

MDOT lane closures

(The map isn't quite exact. The Ramada is located within the Bagley, 1st, Cass, Plaza Dr. block.)

In case you don't know the "DGN Corner" is to the right of the bar. Currently theres a table, pillar and long narrow wooden table, impossible to miss. Come say hello. If no one is there, stay there, they will show up.

Note:

If your NOT going this isn't the place to post about it.

If ARE going (or likely going) to CITY CLUB ON SATURDAY this is where you let us know and we encourage you to do so. Not about some other place, some other club or some other thing your doing instead.

Posts that are off topic should be avoided , and may be deleted in pinned topics.

I might just have to pass up CC for the Woodward Dream Cruise. I live VERY CLOSE to Woodward and end up turning into a recluse on that day every year.

Ha. I might not go because I will be at the Cruise all day shooting. Tends to wipe me out. However, this is probably my last chance before Japan, so I may show up anyways.

Well, have fun, and good luck. I'm not against the Cruise, but it's just not for me. I'm not big on cars; I only care that mine is running fine. However, traffic on and near Woodward SUCKS that entire weekend. I'm most likely going to skip on a show I want to see at the Magic Bag on Friday night as well due to the Cruise.

By the way, what's with this Japan business? (being nosey) It sounds like an excellent opportunity for you.

I don't bother with a car during the cruise. I hoof it. Or skateboard. I like to photograph the cars but not so much the being stuck in traffic.

I'm off to Japan for 3 months for work.

Yeah, that's one weekend a year that I definitely don't miss living in Ferndale.

Anyway, little to no chance of me showing up. But who knows, I could be abducted by aliens who force me to put on a corset and platforms and head down to CC.

WE ARE GOING!!! WOOT!! See yall Sat!

(probably my last time till September as well. I will make an appearance around my birthday tho, me and one of my friends already made plans to go by ourselves when my birthday approaches)

I want to go but I do not have a ride. Can anyone give me a lift please?

You don't live that far from us you could always take the bus like we are...you might have to get a transfer at Fort st and Southfield though. The bus that runs down Biddle by your house keeps going down Southfield.

MARC - you are going for 3 months??? WOW!!! That's so long! You've gotta go to all the events - you've just gotta. I can't tell you off the top of my head when the Tokyo ones are, but in September there's an Osaka event if you can get down there. Not one of the biggest ones but a good night with a great DJ. You've just gotta go. The fetish nights in particular are awesome (not that the Sept one I'm referring to is one, but still). http://www.territory-d.com/sabbat/top.html And Halloween will bring a huge event...in Osaka they always have a relatively cool group from abroad. I've seen Ayria, Opera Macabre, and Das Ich there on Halloween. This last year's performance was less impressive, but Ayria and Das Ich were amazing. Voltaire played the year before I ever went too...that sucked (that I missed it). Anyway man HAVE FUN!!!

In other news, I will be there both nights this weekend, as usual. Probably tired as HELL tomorrow since I plan to go to RenFest all day Saturday and then I'm busy Sat evening before club as well.

    • ~~~~~ Actually, I found it got better.  I had to learn to enjoy life.   With "Middle Child Syndrome" you don't have the luxury of certain thoughts or behaviors as you watch everyone else around you living their life and "going through it".  However, there does come a point where what was then is no longer now and you find your voice, then you can start learning what it means to live life as we understand it.   Unfortunately, because that "freedom" comes later in life than most, you end up as an adult living a crash course of "This is Life" without training wheels and it is a scary position to be in while you are still carrying the scars of an inescapable sense of duty and responsibility that defines you as you navigate your new now.  You come across as a somewhat very naïve, yet responsible adult and there isn't a lack of participants waiting in line to take advantage of that beacon.    However, without the emotionally charged state of youth misdirecting you, you are also able to come to lifechanging decisions for your betterment quicker than most, as you are hyper aware of what is coming your way.   Mix that with a bit of new found confidence and you find that you have a voice that can help others to assess their own situations and life choices.   ~~~~~ As for myself, I interact with a lot of young people who are currently "going through it" and I let them know that although they are feeling it, they have to step back and reassess their situation from a different perspective.   Inevitably, however, with age comes the "I'm too old for this..." mindset wakeup moment and then you can truly begin to enjoy what life has to offer.  I just try to help people get to that point a bit more sooner than later.

    • Not that this gets a lot of activity, but it's been three years, which is also around the last time @Lucyfurlogged on here.  This can probably be unpinned :P
