SaGa
i really want to know what all of your oppinions are on well this city. we live in or around it(well most of us) detroit, pretty much the city to start it all. the perfect industrial city of its time. but yet in 30 years half the population left, outside of downtown is just run-down houses for 5 miles. people investing into detroit seems far and few inbetween, the only thing good seems to be our low housing prices compared to boston, new york, atlanta. even if those houses being sold cheap are run down need tons of work and are in naborhoods that have become slums. is detroit the example of what many other citys will face, due to the MANY layers blowing on our economy? has everyone gave up on this city ever getting any better? ManicQueen
I sincerely love Detroit. The people, the culture and everything that come with it.. I can truely appreciate it. I worked in EMS in the city of Detroit for 7+ years and I learned so much from the people there plus I lived there for a good 9 years. I dealt with drive by's, drugs, death, poverty and serious crime yet I still love the City. I think you truely have to be one with the City to appreciate it for all it's glory. know_buddy_kares
ahh Detroit... the only place where I can really push the limits of life for myself... and break considerable laws and easly commit several felonies in only a few minutes... without cops blinking twice and looking the other way... not once have I ever gotten in trouble for the stunts I'd pull in this lovely little place. There truly is no other place like Detroit. The magic and whole feeling you get is the kind of which that only Detroit can deliver.

Oh_My_Goth
I will always love Detroit, there is no place like it..... Honestly though, I am a bit tired of being in a city type area..... I crave nature,so squares of lawns and precisely placed trees are not cutting it for Me.....

Nienna
I moved here in 2005 because I had fallen in love with Detroit. Coming from the west side of the state, Detroit was like a breath of fresh air. I love the general friendliness of people, plethora of races, the various music scenes, and that oh so goth sense of dead glory. I'll live here as long as I can possibly make it work. Fin
I love the D. Speaking as someone who was away for over a decade in cities such as New York & San Francisco, D-town has come a long way since I left. I purposely try to steer social events to restaurants & clubs in the city so as to support the local economy. I also work in Detroit & enjoy my work environment very much. Vater Araignee
I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks. I want to be back in the city not out where the nearest store is an 8 mile walk. When I lived in Detroit at St. Clair and Jefferson (thats 7 miles from down town) I only used a car for dates and going past 16 mile. I want a fenced in back yard for my kids to play in. I want my own yard to put in a large bog garden for my plants. I don't want to have to anticipate the want for a beer and keep them in my fridge, I just want to go "I'm in the mood for ___" and just walk to the store and get it. I want to be able to say "Huny, lets drop the kids off at BJ's and go to CC and get smashed." I want to stick my pistole in my pants and explore abandoned factories. BUT But I want to protect my family. I want to keep them safe from the energy crisis to come. I mean what am I gonna do when the cityies cant be supplied? Burn down a block so I have the room to grow crops? Burn down a few more for live stock? Shoot every one that wants some? I dont think so. Extremist? Yes. Imposable? No. I miss Detroit, frelling hicks.

industrial_girl_2000
My opinion on Detroit is that it is a great city but needs to overhaul some of the leadership. I will give credit where credit is due....in the last 10 yrs I have seen some wonderful upgrades to the city that make it more like some of the other major cities in the US (Chicago, New York, etc). I liked the Campus Martius skating rink, for example (ok, ok, you got me here....I'm a figure skater who loves to see ANY new rink open up). But in all seriousness, that part of the city isn't all gray & ugly any more now that they put Campus Martius up, and I actually have skated on it in the winter time. It's really peaceful skating in the middle of the city with snowflakes gently falling. NOW, having said all that, I would like to see these pointless raids of some of the late-night clubs STOP. CAID (Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit) was recently raided needlessly & the (suburbanite, young, preppy) patrons' cars were all impounded. I don't get it....you are trying to "GET RID" of the patrons, so why would you take their mode of transportation away??? STOOPID. Yes, you heard me that is "stupid" with a double "o", making it "STOOPID." The Works was also raided in the last month or so. Notice how the Casinos NEVER get raided? I have....! And their little "parties" stay open 24 hours..... Coincidence? I don't think so. The Casinos make enough money to "stay out of trouble." I have no doubt that there are some good handshakes & money exchanges that keep them off the radar. I'm always hopeful for a more ethically-run Detroit, but I don't think we will be getting that any time soon. One can always hope though.... xbittergracex
Maybe I need to get out more because although I can enjoy myself in the city once in a while....I don't think its the same city you all are talking about. I just took a roadtrip from Texas to Knoxville, TN then back to Detroit, and I wonder if there is somewhere else I WOULDN'T RATHER live....... :(
