I've been wanting to have an absinthe party for a while now, so I'm planning on Sunday, May 29th as the date. I'm assuming that a number of us probably have the following day, Memorial Day, off from work. But, I could be wrong... Anyway, I think it might be nice to have a number of DGNers in a low key environment (my place) with some green beverages, including margaritas, Chartreuse, and yes, real absinthe. Some of you might already know that absinthe is NOT illegal to have in the US. It's just illegal to sell in party stores. It's easy to get across the border in Canada and online. Anyway, let me know if you're interested in coming. Let the green fairy enchant you for a while...

It's been too long since I've had Absinth, I thought it could only be smuggled in. If I purchace a bottle in Canada, I can bring it over legally, then?

sounds like an idea. i've just come back from a 3 day absinth party on the top of a mountain in mid wales.

just please be carefull. and stay away from absinthe kits.

on another note. i belive you can buy real absinthe direct from "la fee absinth" a french company and my favourate brand.

Hmmm, it's been YEARS since I've done the mushroom thingy. Absinthe is often not what it's talked up to be (in my opinion), but it can give you a warm, euphoric buzz.

Yes, it's very easy to buy real absinthe online these days. People can easily buy things under the guise "for collector's purposes only" on the web. I'm not a fan of La Fee since I prefer Spanish absinthe. A great link for purchasing a variety of brands is http://www.alandia.de/ They ship it to you within a week too via German post. Like I said though, it's NOT illegal to own it and consume it in the US. We just can't sell it here. I lived in New Orlenas for a few years, and absinthe is still popular undergroud there due to all of the French and Spanish influence there.

absinthe is a nice drink. and i quite like the few days after it. it really does make the brain more creative. but halucinate. thats just peoples expectations due to a certain ban.

Wow, I can't imagine a "3-day absinthe" party. Damn. I feel lousy enough after one night of over-indulging. But, mountain air in Wales might help clear your head. Sounds like it was a great time to say the least.

I totally agree about staying away from the kits, which are easy to get online. My friends and I tried to make it a couple of times, and it was awful. It's not the same thing at all. You really must know what you're doing if you attempt to make it.
