  1. thus in a way you have the modern technologically advanced form of pen palling. okay, that makes one....sort of. i wonder if any of the old ones from MI will be on this site and respond. i had mostly music pals but also many baseball pen pals. it was nice to get to go to Chicago many times and visit many pen pals. we'd go to concerts and baseball games. some of them got to go to Europe to visit their pals but i didn't get to go to Europe until 2002. my goal is to get there again and maybe go to Belgium again and also Germany (Cologne this time) again.
  2. Did or do any of you have pen pals at one time? In the days before computers that's how we all kept in contact with each other. Now it's so simple for like-minded people to merge. In the old days we had to put pen to paper. Thus, I had a lot of good friends from IL, OH, and Canada. I am very curious if any of the people from the pen pals circuit or the FB (friendship booklets) or deco circuits are in here. I was one of about 6 MI pen pals in my big pen palling days. I'm told there are many more from MI these days. If anyone is into pen palling and wishes to join a pen pal group full of other music lovers (yes, FB) let me know and I can add you. I was one of the original 12 invited about 4 months ago. There are a few nice little groups and it's all one big, happy family. No fighting, no disagreements, nothing bad at all. They are almost all invite-only "secret" groups so you'd need an invite from me and you'd have to promise to be somewhat active in the group from time-to-time. I always wondered what happened to some of my favourite pen pals or the few from MI. I did track down some. Thus FB does have a purpose after all.
  3. that was a great video. if i cooked much i'd make that. i eat tofu at least once a week. it looks good, much better than meat (gave up red meat 25 years ago). if anyone tried this let me know how it tastes. i would not have it as hot as he does, however.
  4. just to let people know, i would be more than happy to join the DGN street crew to hand out cards in assisting their recruitment of new members. However, i do not have a car and it is impossible for me to do so. Thus, if anyone needs assistance doing this and is in my area and would swing by and get me i would help out. i just cannot do this on my own. in Vienna i saw an opera and afterwards i went up to the attractive Viennese gents and asked "may i have a photo of you". one said "only if you are in it with me". in Toronto i asked "you are attractive may i have a photo of you" and he said "only if all 3 of you are in it with me" (he was a soccer player from Brazil but looked like an Aryan). at the Duran2 concert i asked all sorts of good looking lads for pixies of them and they all were flattered. and the list goes on. In other words, i AM good at approaching people to pass out brochures and such. I've done this on-and-off for years with animal rights pamphlets since grade school. thus, if anyone wishes for company while doing this chore i will offer my assistance and will be happy to toss some DGN cards in the direction of fellow kindred spirits.
  5. Raev, is there any way to do a search to find the members in, say, Japan? i like this whole universal thing where members from everywhere can and do join. i wanted to invite a friend from Morocco who is a BIG goth fan but i know he would be lost on this site and ask me to help him figure it out and i just could not give him the answers. maybe his gf from OH can join also and give him assistance with the site. i want my "brownie points" to go up since i will get 50 pts for an invite.
  6. which family would you enjoy living next to, the Addams family or the Munster family? as a kid i always wished i could have had the Addams family as my neighbours. sure, the Munster's were really neat also and grandpa Munster would have been great but i really loved the Addams family. i just would never want to eat dinner at their house---let's just say they are not semi-vegetarian friendly.
  7. my kitty is odd-eyed: one golden and one blue. it's very rare to have an odd-eyed mi-ke but certain breeders specialize in this.
  8. i wondered if James O'Barr was ever on here. thanks for the update. he looked rather manic depressed to me in 1984 when he brought me my t-shirt. it took him a few months to make it for me. i think it was just at that time when he lost his fiance to a car accident. my grandma had just died and we had a gathering at our house when he dropped it off and he was very quiet and seemed depressed. well, he is still a very talented man and artist. i also have a Dave Rozema t-shirt (bought from a friend) and i think it was painted by James O'Barr also but he did not sign that one. he signed my Prince shirt however.
  9. thank you, Spook. i thought it was maybe a harpsichord fan. i've only once known someone with a harpsichord but it was an on line friend, not someone local.
  10. danke schoen, liebling (hee hee---you know i'll use that word to death, can't say the one from the radio in here). wait till you see the others. the bats and vampires will be really nice.
  11. Thank you Troy. I will look into this one of these days. I want and need to scan so many items to show to this site and to FB buddies so the masses can see them and I won't have to send them to lots of people. I was wondering how people posted videos in their forum replies. I tried it and only got a "link" to show up but other people get the real videos to show up. Gosh, Darklord figured out this site faster and better than I did and he's from NRW.
  12. I am curious about the members on DGN who reside outside North America. This whole internet thing is wonderful and brings us all together as one big happy family no matter which continent we reside in. I did look at the DGN map but not too many people have stuck a pin in it yet. Danke schoen Arigato Merci Grazie Muchas gracias
  13. Danke schoen fur das freund add.

  14. I'm off for a walk to feed the stray cats now. They are starving and so are the mosquitoes who could not survive w/o my nightly feedings for them also :( Meow
  15. Thank you, Siren! I will post more, especially ones which are more appropriate for this site.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wdsQARLkGk That is what I am listening to. I just had on Madhouse radio from Dusseldorf. Now I'm back to Project Pitchfork. This one sounds so much like Skinny Puppy http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wdsQARLkGk
  17. It does look very pretty and neon in there. Thanks for the update on the old places.
  18. If you love mysteries and puzzles I believe you did get it!
  19. I made these shirts years ago. The CROW one is gone--sold it on ebay. I still have the Phantom one. I made these with clothing paints.
  20. http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2w0W4jWSOI This is so damn cool! I can lie and say they made it for me. It's actually a cover of an old song. W/O looking it up, does anyone know who did the original of this song? The original was rock. This one is totally different from the original. I don't see the video showing up so here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2w0W4jWSOI
  21. I will be scanning or shooting more photos one of these hours or days or weeks. Until then, here is something I had on a disc which I showed to a goth friend in Morocco. It may not be totally goth but this will show you an idea of what I've made. All of my beautiful photos of people's pets, dog and cat breeds, anime characters, etc all got eaten up on the machine. So, I will show you more as time permits.
  22. It would be nice to go just once. In the old days I went to Paychecks and Lilli's (Lillies). Are they still there? Or did Lilli's become this place now? I don't have a car so I'll never see these cool places......Sigh. Have fun oh kindred spirits XOXO
  23. In the days prior to the movie (or comic book) for THE CROW the artist/authour who created THE CROW was a "starving artist" from Taylor, MI. He was, and I am sure still is a goth. He made a few t-shirts of people like Bruce Springsteen and other popular artists of the 1980's and various record stores sold them. I saw them at Dearborn's Off The Record and asked DJ Dianna for his contact info. I got James O'Barr's phone number and called him and asked him to make me a t-shirt in 1984. He painted me an image of Prince on a shirt and I shall now attempt to show it to you all so you can see one of Mr O'Barr's early images prior to THE CROW.
