  1. McDonnel....wasn't he the one that gave the Republican Response to Obama's State of the Union address a month or two ago? (Rhetorical question...yes, it was.) I can understand why Republicans are in favor of devolution of power to state governments, but they could have found a less contentious (and racially divisive) rallying point than the Civil War, could they not? OR, if really not, then why not admit that devolution in the case of the Confederacy DID promote the continuation of slavery. That it is omitted is embarrassing...not just embarrassing, but stubborn and therefore insulting. The two models, strong central government in the first, and power based first primarily in the separate states second, have strengths and advantages each that make them attractive. They also have their weaknesses. In the case of the second, our country's first attempt at government failed because of lack of cohesion. Later, though supported strongly by the southern states, devolution also allowed each state to decide independently whether slavery was acceptable and did little to regulate its institution to the detriment of the enslaved. Obviously, it's not as though devolution = slavery, but it makes legal changes of the social and moral sort more difficult to enact. I understand the argument very well that strong central government makes us less free, but in the case of the Civil War, it made who less free?
  2. You are so kind. Maybe too kind. *Checks for stalkers.* Okay, you just love me. I guess I can live with that. I will try to live up to the expectations I have generated in you. (Please castigate me cruelly with a whip if I fail; I like that sort of thing.)
  3. I think my moodiness has resulted in me being a little grumpier and more melodramatic than is becoming of me. I hope I haven't offended anyone today. (I managed to delete the vast majority of my almost-posts, but a couple escaped me. Sorry.)
  4. AM NOT! Unless Zen means neurotic, I'm not that! I would LIKE to be, but I'm not there yet by any means.
  5. What I meant to say then, Raev, is please add O_M_G (I know I mentioned her) and JynxxedAngel. They belong on the list. And they aren't the only additions I'd like to make. But I object to the nominations because it's sort of like voting before voting: if I list FIVE, then you already know my vote. If I list more than five, I can't even vote for everyone I like. And nothing is anonymous and anyone omitted gets offended and the whole thing is just a mess and I am crying already and I am not even on my period and I think that I just need to go back on anti-anxiety meds and I am just going to say I think you all beautiful in your own way and I going to sign off this thread permanently I think.
  6. Raev, your list STILL omits JynxxxedAngel, O_M_G, Riku, and...and...well, a BOATLOAD of other sexy people I've groped on from the board over the past year (yes, I grope by boatloads--it's more efficient that way) AND you have misspelled XillaToxic again. Why don't we just have people self-nominate? Like this: If you would like to be on the list, re-post in this thread with: Count me in! (P.S. I don't want to be voted on. If you think I'm cute, be more direct: grab my ass and/or plant a kiss on my cheek next time you see me at CC. I can't say it will go anywhere--I'm engaged. I can't say it won't--I'm only engaged. j/k)
  7. ^Yay! So says my permanently designated driver! I chose well. Generally, I get my gin and tonic from Bishop because he loves the Bombay Sapphire about as much as I do. Nonetheless, I have been known to partake of Marvin's mystery shots--definitely a repeatable experience, though, as I am also not a fan of passing out, I elect to consciously inhibit its frequency to no more than once per weekend.
  8. Yay! Your illness sounded so icky and painful. I am glad to hear you are convalescing so well!
  9. Oh, Sluagh; I found a hamster that definitely has no stink. I named mine Goliath. I got him here.
  10. I think it's the same guy, three times. Like our pro-wrestling has its characters with their shtick, Japan has theirs. Cosplay dress is just this guy's (Nagashima Jien-otsu Yuichiro) gag--not the whole sport's.
  11. Yes, yes we do. We do indeed. Muwhahahahahahahahahaha! (Still, if spook wants to spank her for the txtspk, I won't intercede....I'll get a front row seat.)
  12. Eeeyeaaah, and a good deal better than what I will actually be doing....making packing lists and labels for all the boxes of kitchen stuff I've boxed up and organized for "the move" whenever and wherever that ends up being..... UNCERTAINTY, drat you! Don't you know you are ruining my plans! At least when chaos has abased me and shown me for the weakling, mortal, peon bitch that I am, I will have all my pie tins wrapped beautifully in cellophane and styrofoam peanuts. Ah, the illusion of security embraces me like...like... well...like airport anti-terrorism protocol.
  13. oH, so THAT's where you work. I'll come over and get some curly fries. But, whoa, you are, like, wAAAAAAAAaaaay on the other side of town. Maybe not. Pretend though, that I did, and it saved you from boredom.
  14. NO! Not yet! Baby not due yet! Wait! Wait! oh, you don't mean *that* kind of pop.
  15. Aw, c'mon! I can't believe I, the self-appointed grammar nazi, has to be the one to say "give her a break!" It's her first post. She doesn't know protocol yet. I abhor txtspk, but we can't jump all over a newbie on her first post! Unless we do so in order to subdue her and make her our concubine.......... Sorry, distracted by my own wicked thoughts. SexyCinn, please feel welcome to the board. The information you are looking for is most likely to be posted in the Events forum. Before you drop off there... *drum roll*
  16. ^ See, spook! I noticed! I told you she came back.
