AND NOW FOR AN ANNOUNCEMENT

There will be only two more Plastic Passion Wednesdays:

Wednesday, April 19th,

and Wednesday, April 26th.

This is not a gimmick to try and get more people out. This is pretty much a done deal. There a many reasons for this, but essentially comes down to this:

1) Lack of consistent attendance. We've had some great crowds a few nights as well as a some nights where the crowd was thin, but we had loads of fun anyway with a full dancefloor until the wee hours of the morning. Doing it every Wednesday, however, demands to have at least a fairly sizable crowd that consistently shows, and this just hasn't happened.

The biggest obstacle was not only trying to get crowds on a Wednesday night (which is itself a difficult task), but to get a certain type of audience to come to Oz that previously had never been to Oz. In the end, it turned out to be not just having to sell the night and the music, but to have to sell Oz, too.

2) Lack of funds to print more flyers, buy ads, increase promotion and awareness, etc. Doing it free for the first six weeks = no $. No regrets about doing it free, however.

3) Finally, the biggest reason has not to do with Oz, but a personal matter. Josh, Plastic Passion's DJ, was just finishing his last year of enlistment in the National Guard...when whammo... he's being deployed to Iraq this summer. So, some time is needed to prepare for such a big change in life including several weeks army training in May as well as taking many days off to visit friends and family before he is sent off.

So, I, Josh, hope you all can come out for the last two. I assure you that they will be my best DJ sets ever.

Wednesday the 19th:

Diane's (PP's extraordinary bartender ) last night -she's leaving A2. =( Come say goodbye to the best bartender in Ann Arbor!

Only songs that I've never played before will be played - but it's gonna be great!

Requests will be taken, as long as the above applies.

Wednesday the 26th:

THE FINAL PLASTIC PASSION!

A "best of" Plastic Passion 4 1/2 hour DJ set! The best songs! The best mixes of those songs ever! As many great songs and bands as we can pack into 4 1/2 hrs!

BOTH NIGHTS: FREE! (voluntary $3-$5 donation can be made, if you wish, which will be used to recoup previous PP's expenses and investments)

Thanks to all and there will some personal thank yous to persons acknowledged released soon.

Until then...you can leave comments/thoughts about this here or on our myspace blog and I hope to see you all the next two Wednesdays!

- Josh, your humble new wave DJ

    • Just because you can make an almost infinite amount of tracks doesn't mean you have to use them all.  "Less is more" in many cases.  Some of the best tracks are only four pieces (drums, bass, guitar, guitar/piano.) That said V3 is probably my favorite.  Things are spread out more and the timing seems better, even though it does have twice as many tracks on it as V1. I'd take some of the parts and split them off into other tracks, or have the track morph into them later on in the track, spread things out more. But of course others may have different opinions on it.
    • Yeah, had I not been an only child I probably still wouldn't care.  I've never really been one for "you're supposed to do this." But it's also hard to speak in "what ifs" too.  Maybe it'd have made me more responsible, or maybe I'd have literally killed everyone over the stress and aggravation. I still get that younger helping folks thing.  Recently an Arab kid (23) came to an Atheist meetup and I've been talking to him.  Mental issues and a bad family life where no one really understands him or even tries to do not make for a great time.  He found drugs and trouble with the law.  A story all too common these days.  I do what I can to help him out though with advice, though we really only talk over the phone.  He introduced me to a friend of his too who was waking up from religion and also had some questions about evolution. He called me his white dad, which I know was hyperbole but it was still a nice compliment.  As long as he doesn't beg me for money I guess I don't mind.
    • I never really got into this one. Just as "Every Day is Halloween," every day is also World Goth Day. Still, any excuse to throw a party I guess.  But if it's a day that ends in y that's always been enough of an excuse for me.
