They took his comments out of context and are just slinging mud; that's all this is. Edited March 19, 2010 by creatureofthenyte

taysteewonderbunny
Did you read the article? ABC didn't put words in Beck's mouth. He really told Christians to leave their churches if the words "social justice" appears on their websites and equated it to communism or Nazism. (I think he meant fascism.) Joey Deadcat
Heard about this through The Daily Show. He totally came across as a paranoid 50s Cold Warrior; well, more so than usual, anyway.
creatureofthenyte
I re-read it. I think perhaps Glenn should have clarified his point better. It came across as an attack against Christianity, which I don't Think was his intention, but you're right TWB, it did come across that way. Destroit
I actually understand what he's trying to say, I think he's just taking it a bit far. He's talking about "social justice" as a redistribution of wealth which, yes, is against everything I'm against UNLESS it is fully 100% charitable and it didn't have to be forcibly stolen (i.e. taxes) from people. I think that his words came out wrong, and since this is a soundbyte world, the rest of the media just took that and ran with it.
phee
Yes. I think that his words came out wrong, and since this is a soundbyte world, the rest of the media just took that and ran with it. Both sides do that, not just ABC

Ever hear the phrase, "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven"? Jesus said that. fucking socialist bastard. Yeah...but I use the roads. So no, it's not forcibly stolen. If it's for the betterment of the community as a whole then it is not being forcibly stolen but if it's for funding stupid shit like unemployment extensions, cash assistance (i.e. welfare), health care reform and banker bailouts? Yeah, those assholes stole my money. Edited March 19, 2010 by Chernobyl

Destroit
umm, you defined taxes as money that was "forcibly stolen", not me. Rofl, I kinda Glenn Becked that one, didn't I? No...stupid taxes that only go to serve a select portion of society are "forcibly stolen". I put wealth distribution in with that. Taxes should only fund what EVERYONE in the country either uses or has the right/priviledge of using, if they're being used for anything else, I consider it stolen money. I also don't believe the government should make charitable contributions to anything, even if it is a "good cause", unless they have written consent from evvvvvery damn taxpayer in the nation. Charity should weigh on the heart of the individual. It is not up to the government to take money by way of taxation and give it to others when that money was not theirs to begin with, no matter how charitable it may seem. Forcing people to give to charity is not charitable. Edited March 19, 2010 by Chernobyl

The select portion of society seems far away until something happens and you find yourself in the select portion and need the help.
LadyKay
If you can't think of any other argument to make to back up your point, just through in the word "Nazism".
Msterbeau
He's talking about "social justice" as a redistribution of wealth That's not even remotely close to what social justice is about anywhere I heard the term, including the church I go to. If this is your perception, it is wrong.

Rev.Reverence
MY THOUGHT... Everyone deserves food clothes, & shelter...if they don't want to work for it...we SHOULD give it to them... ...IF...they want to not work, for more than a year (schooling to better your position because 100,000 jobs were phased out, counts)...they give up their vote. IsleofRhodesEnt
Glenn Beck is a nut job. I can't believe anyone let him have a TV show, much less any type of forum to speak on. Beck makes O'reilly look sane.
