Highly anticipated music documentary "SYNTHNATION” is having its exclusive

East Coast Premiere at The HHM FILM FESTIVAL October, 1st - 4th, 2009 in Bay City, Michigan

A film by D.J. WARLOCK, a master of all trades: producer, director, editor, music composer, and DJ for some of L.A.' s hottest underground nightclubs. SYNTHNATION is the world’s first industrial music documentary about the hearts and minds of those so-called “weirdos dressed in black.” This feature length documentary (52 minutes) explores the ostracized world of underground industrial music and lifestyle in America.

Filmed in Hollywood, CA, SYNTHNATION takes you on an electrifying trip with a rare and compelling cast of characters through Los Angeles’ customarily reclusive industrial scene. The film explores this community of “outcasts” through the shared experiences of people that would commonly not associate with one another. For example, a French casino pastry chef by day who explodes into DJ H Bomb at night to spin at one of LA’s most influential industrial music clubs, “Das Bunker.” A 23-year-old African-American make-up artist by day who straps on a fetish corset and 10 inch heels to dance the night away on his floors. A successful businessman from the Midwest who never felt he truly belonged until a co-worker put him in black lipstick and tight shorts for a night out on the town: industrial music style. And a young up and coming industrial music artist struggling to “make it” in Rock n’ Roll ruled America, to name a few …

No music documentary is complete, however, without investigating the musicians that made the genre, and its sub-genres, what they are today . . . SYNTHNATION also includes rare live footage and exclusive interviews with industrial music giants and geniuses such as Jean-Luc and Richard 23 from Front 242, Ronan Harris (VNV Nation), DJ Krishan (Rotersand), Andy La Plegua (Combichrist), Babyland, Inure, Prognosis, Catalog, and Synapscape.

SYNTHNATION proves itself to be the industrial daddy of documentary.

Preview screenings of SYNTHNATION held earlier this year at Festival Kinetik in Canada, The Boise Idaho Unique Music Festival, Amphi-Fest in Cologne Germany, and Necropolis in Mexico proved the film to be a definite crowd pleaser. Side-Line Music Magazine in Germany said “The concept [of SYNTHNATION] is very interesting, especially the input of several bands and musicians. This investigation is an excellent initiative!” Heathen Harvest Underground Music magazine gave a detailed review of the film, ultimately concluding that “It’s a must see.”

Other members of SYNTHNATION’s production team include co-producer Vanessa Libertad Garcia, a Cuban - American filmmaker born in California and LA based director of photography, David Bouza.

The East Coast Premiere of SYNTHNATION will take place at The HHM Film festival in the Masonic Temple of Bay City, Michigan: Friday at 11pm and Saturday at 1pm.
