Who makes the best horror?

Recommended Posts

Dance Of The Dead, Hatchet, The Tripper, Feast, Otis, Unearthed, Pathology, Amusement, Anamorph, 30 Days of Night, Midnight Meat Train... All American and all pretty awesome flicks! So as of right now I believe American is my fav.

French get a huge thumbs up as of late and the Aussies are doing some fun things too. The Uk has ownership to a fav of the new school The Descent

Canadians... they are absolutely hit or miss. Ex: Jack Brooks Monster Slayer... AWESOME. My Bloody Valentine.... Worthless. Original Black Christmas... one of my all time favs! the Chair... Pretty good!

everyone is quick to dog American horror for some reason... Yes Italian out did it for a good while but remember we owned the golden era, a large part of the silver, and the 80's pretty much. Besides... Most who pile on the Italian horror band wagon cant name anyone besides Fulci.

J-Horror/K-Horror.... all of it I cant take... I dont get it in the sense that it isnt good to me. I can only take so many soaking wet darkened eye kids. yes yes I know... they arent all like that.

I will agree on Guillermo del Toro as well. Devils Backbone was great. Another great Mexican horror is Boarderlands.

Midnight Meat Train was awesome.... although it was a British Writer (Clive Barker) and Japanease director (Ryûhei Kitamura)... as well as one of the main characters being from the UK... so I am not sure if I would call this totally.... American.....

30 Days of night was decent... made in America... but the director was British as well....

I guess it depends on what you consider American.... where it was made, or who made it....

Dance Of The Dead... Its on Ghost House, so I wont see it.

Hatchet...didnt like it

The Tripper N/S

Feast...LoL good movie

Otis...Thought it was pretty stupid.

Unearthed... Its on After Dark Horror Fest so I wont see it, I didnt even like Frontiers as much as I had hoped.

Pathology.. I atually have heard good things about this one.

Amusement...Ive heard mixed Feelings but N/S

Anamorph... Never even heard of it...

30 Days of Night...Very good, we needed a real vampire movie and this delivered

Midnight Meat Train...I thought it was a disappointment.

So yea most of the movies you listed I cant honestly judge, but I have a feeling I will know what I would think of a few of them. I do want to see Pathology, i heard from a friend that I would like it. I wish I could say I enjoy American horror, because I used to, but lately its been letting me down.

im gonna go against my typical nature and completely call you out on judging flicks on the fact they are after dark or ghost house.

Boarderland was GREAT! Unearthed was a great monster flick! Tooth and Nail wasnt bad! Dying Breed was awesome! Perkins' 14 was good! all of those are After Dark and you wont even give them a chance because pieces like Nightmare Man and The Broken were also under that name... that doesnt make much sense. Ghost House has Brotherhood of Blood and Dance Of the Dead that are worth it. Dark Floors only if you are a Lordi fan.

I dont like 16Volt and they are/were on metropolis records, does that make every band on Metropolis suck? Hell no! Xymox is on there, Angelspit is on there, Sister Machine Gun was on there...

sorry if that was out of line but if you are a horror fan then you gotta wade through the muck to get the gems. I have seen and own many bad flicks, but i still have em and ill watch em again!

I am absolutely loving this discussion by the way.

Also, if any of you have Comcast, I suggest FearNet on OnDemand. Hilarious horror movies... I saw Dance of the Dead as well as The Decent on there.

Alot of really bad movies are on there too just for kicks.

Indeed.... good stuff on there....

Meh to each there own, all of the ghost house/after dark/ Masters of horror that I have seen have not been worth my time.

MSNBC

FOX

I think the Henry Waxman healthcare bill, contains more horror then any movie ever made.

I know how you feel.

After seeing the environmental devastation detailed in An Inconvenient Truth, I felt that it met the billing of the "Scariest Movie You'll Ever See"

because it foretells hell on earth for our grandchildren.

    • ~~~~~ Your last statement sounds like me!
    • I had a productive day. I also have found some new music to listen to. However, one of my cats is sitting in my lap right now; usually that’s good, but he’s digging his sharp claws into my leg, which isn’t so good.
    • Tired AF... me and Youngblood was out magnet fishin' the Rocky River last night, was an Ef'ed up long day today with the work truck blowin' the trans cooler return lines. Been up all night again tonight again, got back from Leland over to Motor City Casino 'bout 4am and spent hours walkin' every floor level of the casino and parking garages over and over, time after time tryin' to locate rest of my gang... finally found a hidden enclave with a smoking slot machine rom in it that'd I'd been overlooking and all three of 'em ª$$høŁƏ$ was there, they'd been in there tha whole freakin' time... of course Bosshog has no interest in walking away from paying machines yet so I'm sittin' in the back seat of the truck chillin' in the parking garage. Blood sugar bottomed out too low to keep on adventurin' this morn' lol. That's my editorial on last nights crazy in hopes in may entertain someone. All's I got is plenty of 51/50... my cup full o' crazy runneth over so to contribute all this surplus insanity to the greater community at large just seems like a thing to do lol.
    • Think its crazy ass nostalgic that i was able to hustle down here on foot, go in city club before closing. What are the odds lol. I couldn't remember where the doors to go in the building was tho lmfao
    • Well the 2nd half of the day's gone full tilt awful for me, i made a radical decision to get wexked drunk for the 1st time since Panama City Beach FL 4 years ago... subsequently the work gang hmu bout goin to casino... i arrived just now finding myself in Detroit right down the street from where City Club's at so idk wtf. LOL
