Whee!! I'll be there!

NOW WHAT'S THIS ABOUT FIREWORKS??? SRSLY?????????

I've never properly been. Where exactly are they and where is good to watch from? Are they at all close to the Works? Will traffic be bad getting to the club? What's a good strategy?

Relevant to the CLUB:

Will streets around the Works be open? I usually take the Lodge to the 75/Trumbull exit and turn left on Trumbull, right on Michigan. Will this be open??? (This is important!!)

Also will the parking lot by the Works be...parkable? Not full of random people or turned into pay parking?

I hope these questions get answered by someone! <3<3<3

Well, it seems that Detroit's fireworks happen earlier and earlier in the season (and nowhere neear the 4th of July) every year. :) They are shot from the middle of the Detroit river, so anywhere riverfront (Hart Plaza, Mt. Elliot Park, or a taller parking structure / friend's apartment downtown) would be great. I've had success at Mt. Elliot Park, since it's my front yard, the top of the Leland, the Compuware Parking Structure, and the Opera House Parking Structure. I believe they happen right around nightfall, too, so traffic should dissipate in time for DEAD-LINE, but the fireworks generally bring a lot of suburbanites downtown looking for the party.

WE SHALL PROVIDE! Good luck in your quest for exploding things. xx

I added some other questions about the club....will we be able to party as normal without our stuffs being messed up? XD haha (parking/driving/etc)

So I was thinking it might work to just go to the Works early and park there and walk down to the riverfront... (about a mile). The 2 questions then are, will the fireworks be visible from Rosa Parks vicinity? (I imagine yes), and will we be able to park at the Works/get to the Works? This is the main question!!!!

(If the Works parking lot is not available for all of us it would suck ass!)

the roads will be closed for a bit tonight.

take 75 to rosa parks, take the u-turn before the light.

veer right on to the service drive that runs behind the works.

take the 1st right, turn right in to the lot on your right.

go through the lot and enter the works parking lot.

long story short, until 11 take the back way in.

Parking lot will be available?

(Confirmation would be greatly appreciated!!!) :wink

Yes, the Works should have ample parking. Most people will be trying to park closer to Hart Plaza / Woodward & Jefferson area. The Works also has the back lot, which should be lit and unpopulated.

About being able to see the fireworks from the Rosa Parks / Jefferson area, I'm unsure (it really depends on if the wind feels like blowing a smokescreen your way. They are most visible from the city's center, Woodward & Jefferson area. But trust me, they're big and noticeable for many a sidestreet in all directions.

@Wilhelm: Sorry about the mixup!! I had it in my head that the happy hour was a happy hour and a half. Wishful thinking, I guess. :)

SEE YOU GUYS TONITEEEEE.
