That was pretty darn disappointing. I guess shit happens, but still. What 'troupe' was in charge of the shows here? And is it the same one every week? (I'd imagine it would be..)

Actually "The Ritz" does not hire a troop to run events every week! Nizzle was supposed to run the school girl thing, but he forgot some of the stuff he need it (at least that is what i heard)!

"Oblivion" does rehearse there every week.. but we do not run the events!! management does that. We perform there about once a month! and talking about that WE WILL BE PERFORMING NEXT WEEK!!! we don't flake!! and it will be worth your time!! we are going to have theatrical scenes, fetish scenes, fire and flesh pulls!!

You can still get in for free before 10

Only 3 dollars after 10

18+ welcome!!

oh.. and they have the new power hour from 10 to 11 were you can order anything at the bar for $2!! and i mean anything... even TOP SHELF!

Please come and support us!!

Downside - There was no gothic schoolgirl blood wrestling.

Upside - I had a great night. Wish I had pictures though black on black doesn't show up very well. Mental note, next time use white rope.

Don't tell me they replaced it with gothic schoolBOY wrestling or I will shoot my own face for not being there.

ya know, I'd say something about tonight, but at the risk of coming across as a tool for being extremely upset and disappointed with this event, I'll keep my mouth shut.

I mean how much prep does it take to get some girls, a kiddie pool, and some blood? :p

Hell that's what I thought too, and how much prep does it take to get some hot guys in on the action? Kay kay...I'll stop, I know, I'm the only one I know who's into boys .

But yes, pool, girls (possibly drunk), blood....what kind of prep does that require? I could do that right now in my house within the next ten minutes if I wanted .

Actually "The Ritz" does not hire a troop to run events every week! Nizzle was supposed to run the school girl thing, but he forgot some of the stuff he need it (at least that is what i heard)!

So who is this "Nizzle"? Is he associated with any of the groups? Is the girl who was supposed to be in it who didn't show up (what I heard happened) part of any of the groups? Basically, obviously, I just plan to completely avoid anything these people have anything to do with in the future.

Anyway, even if he had forgotten something, he had plenty of time to drive back home and get it, unless he lives in Grand Rapids or Columbus, and if a girl wimped out, he should have recruited someone else from the huge number of more-or-less event-related/venue-related girls in schoolgirl costumes to take her place. It's not all that complicated.

From the beginning, the way this sounded was that there would be way more than 2 girls anyway. Why have only 2 girls? There were tons of girls around last night in schoolgirl outfits (not counting me, obviously, I mean people related to the event, or so I thought). Why weren't more of them going to be involved? I can't believe only 2 were supposed to be from the beginning. And then one doesn't show, so it's completely cancelled? I am glad I got there early and didn't pay cover, or I'd want my cover back, and I doubt this place is cool enough to realize that they owed it to us and probably wouldn't have given it back, and I'd be even more pissed off. Not that $3 is a lot of money, but it's the principle of the thing.

Sorry guys, but I don't think I'll probably be back to the Circus anytime soon. It's just not worth coming out there on a worknight and getting 3 hours of sleep to sit in a bar without much going on.

LOL, alright, I guess I'll add my 2 cents. But beware, this post is extremely critical of exactly what I experienced last night and how awful it made me feel.

I don't blame the troupe that Ivy cat mentioned, as I know for a fact that for the most part, they don't like to waste time.

Hell, before we left, Sandy was upset about the fact that the wrestling was canceled, I know she was promoting the crap out of it, and it was due to the fact that one of the girls didn't bother to show up. Unfortunately, instead of letting us all know, they decided to have that one girl do a flesh pull for a little over 30 minutes, which got kinda old after the first 10.

Not to mention, I can understand the owners wanting to be accountable for the amount of alcohol in the drinks, but I will NEVER order another mixed drink from there, cuz all I ended up with was 2 large glasses of cranberry juice (I am not kidding). Koneko-sama told me that the water was stronger than any of the crap we ordered at the bar.

Thoroughly disappointed with this evening. I really don't like to waste time and money on something thats just not happening. That was the absolute biggest waste of time ever. Epic Fail. I ended up going to Luna after Sandy told us there was no wrestling. I will NOT be going back to the ritz unless I get dragged there kicking and screaming, and even then, I'm pre-drinking in the car.

>.> <.< I was joking.... They were pretty weak though (Sorry Sandy!!!). I don't fault the barstaff, just the strict rules they obviously have to follow. But with so many bars around that you can get so much cheaper stronger drinks, no one will pay $2 for something in which you seriously cannot taste any alcohol, so I wonder sometimes why owners decide to do this. It's gotta cut down on quantities sold. $2 is cheap, sure, but...not for a Coke. ;) What this really means is that there's not much point to going there any time if you want to drink since if it's a rule by the owners, it's probably the same regardless of who's pouring.

That said, the Hunchbacks were pretty tasty, anyway.

Though, on a sidenote, I'm not sure you can call it "you call its" if it doesn't include some things. But I don't really care that much.

My take on it all - I am still involved a bit but the on again off again wrestling thing wasn't my fault lol. Actually I'm surprised you all came for that. I was told by several people (because I asked) that one of the girls didn't show up and that's why it got canceled. I'm not sure if they had only 2 girls scheduled or not but I do think to cancel it on the account of one not showing up was bad... I think at the very least, Nizzle should have tried to convince someone else to do it. On the other hand - I thought the rest of the night went very well and I did like the other stuff that Nizzle did.

The night is being handled by capable people that we felt would do a good job and I think things are coming around well. I was very much impressed with ScaryGuy who played a great set - I really enjoyed him being behind the DJ booth. Everyone I saw seemed to be having a good time. As for getting your money back - well, you all seem to be use to assholes running the show - it wasn't out of the question and at the very least you might have gotten a free drink if you had asked. I would have felt the same way if I came out for one thing and that one thing didn't happen.

I will mention this to the powers that be and make sure that if something is advertised, it happens - and a back up plan/people are ready.... that does piss me off and I will mention having dudes do it as well.... that isn't something I want to see - dudes all slicked up and bloody - reminds me of a Bruce Willis movie - but hey.... if ya want it, we'll see what we can do.

Perhaps the Gimp would be interested? lol

Now - I am hosting a special Saturday Night edition of CO on April 11th - CYBERTRYBE will be headlining and we will have 2 other bands as well. DJ Darks Choir is scheduled to MC the night and it will be 200% more of what normally goes on Thursday nights..... and if I have too, I'll make sure there are plenty of school girls and blood to go around for everyone.

And don't forget - tonight at LUNA, we're headline with 3 other cool as hell groups - see "Feb 27th".

No problems or complaints at all with Scary. I never have. But I get to hear him on Wednesdays in a venue that's more me, playing more my style of music, so this is not enough to get me out. (Sorry Scary!) ;)

I was a bit dismayed to hear the opening bars of Ministry through the wall as I walked to my car though...dammit. Bad timing! I wish it had played a bit earlier...

There was some really great music playing. I would have been out there dancing and having a great time..had there been a dance floor. But alas, it was taken over by the suspension. Oh well. Clearly this is just a fetish night. Since fetish nights are not as much my thing, I'll stick to dancing nights - the beloved Works, and then perhaps try out 80s night that I hear so much about.

No offense to Sandy either but (don't pass out when I say this) I was surprised as well - I ordered my first drink and I could barely tell there was anything in it.... I swear this isn't the norm up there and I plan on talking to the head bar tender about it. I can't recall anyone at CO complaining about drinks until last night and I will get to the bottom of it. Normally - I am scared to drive home afterwards because the 3 or 4 drinks I had felt like doubles..... so of course I'm gonna ask why this wasn't so last night.

Well do me a personal favor - give it a few weeks and come back - like I said, it is being handled by a new group and they are just getting their feet wet - all of these issues are being dealt with and within a few weeks I know you will see a different place.

The acts are getting more organized, the music is getting better and I'll deal with the drink thing. And we are trying to get in some cool bands on special nights.

Well be prepared next time to possibly do that - if it had been up to me, I would have advertised for volunteers to do it and made it an audience participation thing. With some concert tickets or something as a prize.... I hope someone is taking notes.

hmmm...

Not sure what to say here. Sean and I no longer have anything to do with the night. I believe the ties were cauterized last night...with the exception of the new "management" asking us questions here and there on how we did things.

Why do we still go? Because we enjoy the company. And last night I thoroughly enjoyed Scary Guys music.

As for the alcohol at the Ritz...I NEVER buy mixed drinks anymore. If I do, I order it from the bar and I watch them make it. Just ask Sandy. But aside from the amount, I just don't like mixing anymore because I like to know exactly how much I am getting. So I order straight up on the rocks. The Ritz is the only place I do this at. Their alcohol has the worse effect on me. I can drink the same amount or more elsewhere and feel fine the next day. The morning after the Ritz, no matter what, I feel terrible. This is not on Sandy or the other bar staff. I have asked the head bartender what was up with that. Of course I don't remember a good answer. So then I started drinking bottled drinks...but the carbonation kills me. The wine there isn't so great either. So I stick with what I like...straight up. I know it sucks, especially when this particular bar is our "home bar".

As for the blood wrestling...I have no idea. This IS the second week this has happened. This is the second week I "almost" had some friends come out, and the second week I was glad they did not. As mentioned above, this is not on Sandy, Nix, or Jeff Davies shoulders. (they are the ones who are running the night now). This was all on Nizzle and his performers. I like Nizzle very much, but when Sean and I started CO, it was NEVER intended for him to perform every week. Finally when we had a Thursday where he wasn't performing, there was such an uproar we asked him to perform something that night, as he was already there. Sean and I ran around like idiots and bent over backwards trying to please everyone...and it just cannot be done.

While I am on the subject and being very honest here, as most of you know, Sean and I co-manage our band CyberTrybe. I can honestly tell you that running a night like CO took more time and effort than running our band. I won't bore you with the details, but people, this night almost literally broke up my marriage to Sean. The stress, the time, and the caliber of some of the people who frequent that night...the whole mentality...for me PERSONALLY...was way more than I could handle. Sean got sucked up into it and I fought it tooth and nail. I TRIED to keep it more like Theater Bizarre. I TRIED to keep some class to it. I TRIED AND TRIED AND TRIED. And then I just gave up.

We handed over OUR half to Nix, and he brought Sandy onto his team. Just last week Jeff Davies was brought in to handle the bar end of the bullshit, because I am telling you...running CO is like taking care of 100 grown people who act worse than 2 year olds, or think they are still in high school.

A performer came up to me last night and asked if it was true if Sean and I were no longer running the night. I confirmed it, and then she said, "I would love to support this night, but I hear now that it is going to be a lot stricter" .

What the hell did that mean? I have no flippin clue, but at that moment I was very HAPPY. SOMEONE had to get CO under control and since I backed off, and Vandl wasn't paying much attention, there was NO way sean could have done that on his own.

I have sat here and read every post about CO. I bit my tongue many times out of respect for my HUSBAND.

But now that I am OUT, but still in the "know" I feel compelled to point out some things.

Blood Wrestling...that's the PERFORMERS fault. NOT the bar. NOT the people running the night. If I were still in charge and this happened...now TWICE...I don't think I would be having that particular performance troupe promising me anything like that again. Once is excusable, twice...uh...not so much.

As for the hooking...I don't get into that. I find it fascinating, and disgusting at the same time. I don't usually watch. But a many many people do, and every time I tried to curb it I got spanked...by the CUSTOMERS.

**puts soap box away**

Its not that I was blaming the bartenders themselves, but I noticed it when I ordered a drink, they have them measuring the amount that they're allowed to put into the cup, which seems to be this new thing at certain bars...(Anita at city is forced to do this as well with certain types of alcohol, only its not nearly as strict as what I saw last night) Well, I needed to cut down on the booze, but still, if I had even a small buzz last night, I might not have complained so much.

Ok I'll address the major posts one at a time first and then put my rundown of the entire night.

fuck that I will say something. Me and most of the speedcult crew were pissed last week as well when the blood farmers didn't go on until 1 am we had ALL LEFT BY THEN THE FLIER SAID 7pm damnit we have lives...money is not free...rant! Bullshit.

the flier said 7pm thats fucked...some of us have to work in the morning even on weekends.

Oh and you call a bunch of stuck up chicks sitting around worried about if their lipstick is smudged...getting free modeling porfolio pics burlesque? NOT

I am not going back unless there is a band playin worth dyin for.

It looks like there is a very good chance I'm the new resident DJ on Thursdays, so there.

Also I was at the Country Bob show (Graveside Manner F*ING ROCKED too btw). That show had nothing to do with Circus Obscene at all considering it was on a Friday and not a Thursday. Also why didn't you come say hi? Damnit I totally didn't see you or I would have.

I don't feel bad for not going now... So what happened to the blood wrestling? I mean how much prep does it take to get some girls, a kiddie pool, and some blood? :p

The way I heard how things ran down was that Nizzle was told to get a tarp and what he had was a 4X6 tarp when the owner specifically told him he needed a 20X20 at least. He also didn't have a pump for the pool he brought either. I can vouch for the people running the night that they feel HORRIBLE that this didn't go on and WILL MAKE GOOD ON IT IN THE FUTURE! (so at some other upcoming date, there will in fact be real school girl blood wrestling). Nix was really excited about this event and wanted to take pictures and Nix runs the night with Sandy so this is happening, maybe not next week, but it is happening. We would beat Nizzle for this but the sad part is the crazy bastard would probably like it.

So who is this "Nizzle"? Is he associated with any of the groups? Is the girl who was supposed to be in it who didn't show up (what I heard happened) part of any of the groups? Basically, obviously, I just plan to completely avoid anything these people have anything to do with in the future.

He runs the flesh pulls and a few of the other things there as far as the non musical entertainment goes. Believe me they're going to make sure he has his ducks in a row before they let him attempt anything else (other than a flesh pull) again.

and if a girl wimped out, he should have recruited someone else from the huge number of more-or-less event-related/venue-related girls in schoolgirl costumes to take her place. It's not all that complicated.

Eh, kind of since not all the girls there work for the bar. What I think they should do is open it to the public and put up a cash prize, but that's just me. However that would guarantee they'd have at least two (probably more) throughout the night, but that's just my opinion and there may be other factors involved with that (like liability, what a horrible word).

Like Maria said, Oblivion just practices there every week and we don't have an actual show there until next week! (please note that I say we because I'm their official DJ, so I will be there every week regardless).

Sorry guys, but I don't think I'll probably be back to the Circus anytime soon. It's just not worth coming out there on a worknight and getting 3 hours of sleep to sit in a bar without much going on.

Well I hope you enjoyed some of the music. I know it wasn't Dead-Line style but then again it wasn't meant to be. Even if I do take up a residency there (which again looks more than likely) THE RITZ IS NOT THE WORKS AND CIRCUS OBSCENE IS NOT DEAD-LINE! Although granted I was a little more industrial/EBM with the music last night than I should have been. It's not just an industrial/EBM night. They want all the alternative stuff, just not as much as the other guy was doing.

OK MY RUN DOWN OF THE NIGHT!

I got there at around 6:45 or so and strolled in with my mom's laptop and my dad's portable hard drive filled with tunes (my tunes of course, not his, although I could have totally rocked out some Eagles or something). We went through practice and that was alright, I packed up and was ready to call it a night. I told Nix I had my equipment and he said I should throw down a set. So I waited until around 11:30ish and set back up. The other DJ was actually playing some alright stuff for once and was trying at least, so I almost didn't want to just because I wanted to see what he'd eventually do, however I knew eventually he'd screw it up so I went on. Sandy told him to write his setlist down (which I should have grabbed to put in the playlist that I will post later since it's still on the laptop). To make a long story short I had a lot of fun taking a bunch of good requests and got a LOT of compliments from staff and patrons (including Sean and Kitty who were running the night and put in a good word for me I guess, which again thank you guys).

Right, now remember this is me talking, and I might be a fucking dick, but you know I'm never going to bullshit you and I'm always straight with you guys (and everyone in general, as a rule). I hope people respect that and want to come back because of that rather than me just sugar coating everything like some sort of promoter or something (OK technically I am a promoter, but I believe in truth in advertising and letting people in on stuff as I think it makes them feel like more of a part of the night). Things are great right now, but they can get better and be improved upon. The Ritz is working on that, and so are the people who run Circus Obscene, and so is Oblivion (we're helping a bit). So come out next week, you will not be disappointed, and even if you are tell me and I'll do what I can to fix it. I like making people happy because I have no emotions of my own and have to feed of those of others.

Part two (or me responding to what was posted while I was posting my other post)

and if I have too, I'll make sure there are plenty of school girls and blood to go around for everyone.

I want a blood covered school girl :D The best part is I keep getting older and they stay the same age XD Thank you for the compliment too, even though I did trainwreck twice (at least I admit it, and don't rely on the DJ software to do EVERYTHING for me) and I feel if I'm going to talk shit I better be prepared to back it up (which I did, I totally brought it).

No problems or complaints at all with Scary. I never have. But I get to hear him on Wednesdays in a venue that's more me, playing more my style of music, so this is not enough to get me out. (Sorry Scary!) ;)

K, just remember that I do different things on different nights, so you won't see the same thing each night! I want to make it worth it to people to go out two nights a week to see me, or at least alternate between bars week to week if cash is tight. I'm going to push for the bars to work together too and cross promote. But this also I hope creates some FRIENDLY competition between the two as well. Jeff is working at The Ritz trying to help out the night and I can honestly say he knows his stuff because I've worked with him two years ago there with Disintegration Disco and he's good people to have on the team and he's also one of the few that can make the owner listen to reason which is really what will count the most in the future. This means equipment upgrades hopefully :D

May I suggest a planner. Maybe I will get you one, as a Thank You gift.
