SkittlePuke
Anybody know of some good bars/clubs in the metro detroit area that actually has a decent 80's night? I have pretty much had it with Luna. I am a regular and I'm noticing that half of what they even play on there 80's night seems to be early 90's tunes. Aside from the atmospher changing. And boogie nights does not really appeal to me.

perception7
Good Luck trying to find a better 80's Night than Luna's. They are the only club that I know of that has succeeded with an 80's night that has lasted so long. I went to the last luna dancer show & I did notice them playing a FEW early 90's tunes. It wasn't half the night. Big Deal. The place was packed and they have alot of requests to take care of. Not to mention a diverse crowd that seems to be getting bigger every time I go. The last Thursday I went there was a line out the door. ROCK ON LUNA!

Destroit
just because a club night is packed does not mean it's good. if that was the case every club that plays hip hop in detroit would be considered the best. For the record, imo. Luna = Sucks Balls Specially because they stopped catering to goth/scene kids, which are now treated with hostility, and are all over the preppy people. Why doesn't Luna just change its name to Tiki Bob's Cantina or Tonic while they're at it?
Riku Namako
just because a club night is packed does not mean it's good. if that was the case every club that plays hip hop in detroit would be considered the best. everyone's got their opinions, but you can't argue with their success rate. Luna's 80's night would be the only night I'd ever consider going there, but I'm with chernobyl on that, Luna's gone to hell in a handbasket. goodluck with your 80's night on sundays, I don't think anyone bothers going out that night unless they've really got nothing better to do with their time, on top of being able to afford going to that area of detroit, and not having to worry about work the following day. plus tax. jynxxxedangel
You'd be surprised how many people are often looking for SOMETHING to do on a Sunday night.. Me being one of them. The Sunday night 80's night thing just might fly, you never know.. Which nightclub or bar is this going to be at, and an address, please?
perception7
This is very True. You cannot argue with Luna's success rate. I seem to be the only one on this board that still goes to luna. I do see other goths that go there but they don't post on this board. I try to get them to join this board & help me defend the place but they never do. I don't post here that much, but when I do it always seems like I am defending my favorite club. I always have a good time at Luna & It's always busy. I am going there tonight for the Luna 80's show and I will be going early because last time I went on a Thursday I had to wait in line. Saturdays are really busy as well & I go to City afterwards usually with a group of people. I guess there's alot of people out there that don't think it sucks. They just don't post or read this board. I'm sure after I post this, there will be some people who call me a moron or say the place sucks or the place treats goths with hostility. I went there for my birthday & got a free bottle of champagne. I wouldn't call that hostile. Oh well, I should just stop reading these posts anyway. Luna is still my favorite bar too especially on thurs/80's night. I could care less how many "goths" vs non goths go. The music is great and I have never been treated poorly there. I prefer the crowd that used to go there a few years back, but 80's everything is the IN thing right now and I kinda think that is why the crowd has picked up so much with the non goth crowd so to speak. I miss chris rohn djing there too and i do agree that fridays there do suck now. I would go to an 80's night just about anywhere they have one, but i have yet to find a better one then Luna puts on. I too plan to celebrate my birthday there on 80's night with the free bottle of champagne!!

wilhelm k
i have no issue with luna, and by all means more power to them with their successful nights. i just think their should be an alternative, just like their should be an alternative to city club. And boogie nights does not really appeal to me. Norm's Field of Dreams at 15 and Rochester has a really fun 80s night. I think it's on Wednesdays. My cousin bartends there, and when ever I go on 80's night, it's a blast.
perception7
80's Night Tonight! woo hoo! I have some funds to go. Hey skittlepuke, Let's gang up on dj paul to play some obscure sh*t!!
SkittlePuke
perception7- Done with Luna yes. Done with meeting up there with good friends...not at all. Also...DJ Paul plays all the older slightly more obscure stuff between 9-10:30. I can honestly say I have no problem with the Luna staff. I know most by name and Visa versa. Very nice folks. But yea the owner is deffinatly gearing twards a different direction. The more mainstreem a bar is the more fickle the crowd does get. The minute somethign better comes along people drop it for the next big thing.
