Fierce Critter
And this one is just for Gaf: (I cannot believe I just posted a picture of me in my despised glasses...) Anyhoo... Debbie at London Calling did this for me. It took 4 hours. She did a fantastic cut job on me first. Then she de-colorized the majority of the black from my hair, then did a permanent red in a normal but sharp shade, then added a red intensifier on top. The pictures don't really do the color justice - it's very, very vibrant. I wanted to get as much black out of it as I could because that's really what I had wanted in the first place when I got my hair initially dyed in October. This has much more red, much more depth & variation. I am hoping to have a re-marriage ceremony for our 10th anniversary in October, and at that time, I'll be going back to as close to my original dark blonde as I can, with extensions as well. This red will be easier to gradually fade out and then have treated when the time comes.

Destroit
Ha, my bff Lisa called me yesterday and wondered where she could go to get red put in her hair that wouldn't fade and a place that isn't "preppy" like she's used to going to because I think after all these damn years she's FINALLY coming out the Goth Closet. I said London Calling and showed her this thread and she went yesterday saying your hair looked pimp.

Fierce Critter
I said London Calling and showed her this thread and she went yesterday saying your hair looked pimp. LOL - I'll take that as a compliment. Thanks again for all the comments. I'm really loving it, even if it is getting me a lot of stares when out in public. Been a long time since I noticed so many people giving me the, "I don't understand this and thus I fear it" look. You really can't see from the pictures, but it's REALLY about glowing red, especially in the areas that came particularly clean of the black, and my roots, which were grown-out about 1" to my natural dark blonde shade. Debbie was exceptionally patient. I have really difficult hair to work with. It's very fine, and prone to easily break. It was difficult to work with in the first place just for the cut - with so little hair, the styles I can realistically have are limited. But the dye job was a near nightmare to work with. It had already been dyed black, and there were spots that had been left undyed so that I could apply Special Effects reds myself on top of my natural blonde. This is what it looked like when first dyed: Since my original stylist went and dyed ALL my roots black back in December when I had a touch-up done, and I was left unsure of how to go about recovering from that botched touch-up (she should have left as much of the red parts alone as possible), I basically started washing the crap out of my hair in an attempt to fade-out as much of the color as I could. This did do some good, Debbie said that a lot of it had faded to a dark brown. She had to carefully apply a de-colourizer, which didn't get out ALL of the black, but left me with really interesting black highlights on bleached out hair. I actually liked it before she applied the red, and considered just getting a dark blonde shade put in instead of the red. But she advised against, so I went with the red, and am glad I did. She really worked with me because in October, I'll be hopefully having some kind of re-marriage ceremony for my 10th anniversary. I want to go back to my natural blonde for that. I'll probably eventually start washing the crap out of my red in an attempt to get it to fade as much as possible, in preparation to go back in and have it de-colourized and dyed blonde, and I'll be getting major extensions put in, too. Which both Debbie and I understand might be necessary - neither of us is sure that my delicate hair will be able to deal with another de-colourization and dye job.I could end up losing a lot of hair, but it won't matter 'cause of the extensions. Altogether, it took 4 hours. And the cost? About $150. I expected to have to pay closer to $300. So she got a BIG tip.
