jadnifer
What kind of a place is this at where you have to BYOB? It looks kind of interesting though...maybe I will make it out there. Depending on if I can find a ride.
n0Mad
It's at a dance studio. Read the frickin' flyer. They don't have a liquor license but it's legal for you to byob.
n0Mad
Oh, this just in ... I was e-mailed the tentative line up. Things are subject to change. ACT 1:Opening: Lunatic Vagabonds 3:50 min 2nd JoAnne Hand lamps 3:50 min 3rd Jessica Burlesques Dance 3:50 min 4th Unvielded Dance Company 3:50 min 5th Elton & Jess (contact fire, some magic, glass walking/eating etc.) 15 min 10 min intermission *During this time Russ will be setting up his band (THIS IS ALL TENTATIVE AT THE MOMENT, still waiting to hear if it is a GO or NOT. If they DO NOT perform, it will be just a nice real quick moment to relax before the start of the next act). ACT 2 Opening Reality Drift (Russ's Band) 15 min Unpluged (extra 5 min to clear the stage area) 2nd Shetan Noir w/ Dixon belly dancing on broken glass 3:50 min 3rd Lunatic's Danica & Mia doing Fire Staff 3:09 4th Scott (mentalism, some magic) 8:00 min (still waiting to hear back on also) 5th Brett "Whipboy" Copes comic & whip artist 20 min So folks! That is the line up. We are looking at about a 2 hour show. Where it says in ACT 2, "4th Scott ..." that's me. I'll probably see if I can get billed as "Ammic Romano", do about 2 minutes of comedy and juggling for an intro, and then do about 6 minutes of mind reading type stuff. We'll see. n0Mad
All that for five bucks?Sounds awesome!! Heck yeah! The headliner "Whipboy" is a friend of mine who lives and performs in Vegas. Great guy, really talented. Another friend is in the belly dancing troupe "Lunatic Vagabonds". They do good work. Elton is one of the best fire performers I've seen. And then of course there's me.

n0Mad
How did it go. Well, if you were there Friday night, you would've known. lol Anyway, the show went FANTASTICALLY! All the performers were top notch and very entertaining. The crowd was quite receptive and responsive. It was a small engagement and felt like a bunch of friends hanging out and having a good time. Of course, that's pretty much what it was. I've been friends with Mary from the Lunatic Vagabonds belly dancing troupe for years so it was fun to see her again and get a chance to perform with her in the same show. Elton Litzner and I have performed together for a couple of years with Chaos but I haven't seen him in a while so it was great to do a show with him again too. I've known the headliner Brett "Whipboy" Copes for over a decade and have always been a big supporter of him. He has likewise always supported me so it was nice for us to see how the other has evolved as entertainers over the years. There were a few people in the audience I've known for a while but haven't seen for years. There was a meet and greet after the show where everyone mingled. It was great seeing old faces and meeting new ones. I'm hoping there will be another show like this soon. It really was a lot of fun. Another bonus - In my limited free time I've slowly been organizing and scripting a full evening two act comedy/mind reading show. On paper it looks great but many of the mind reading effects can't be rehearsed really because it relies on audience member. I also think the jokes are funny personally but have no idea what an audience would think as the jokes are a bit cerebral. But, for last Friday's variety show, I field tested a bit of my new material for the first time. The effects went over great, the comedy had audience members falling out of their seats with laughter, and I got lots of great compliments after the show. So now I'm confident that "The Ammic Romano Show" will be a great success. I'll have to step up the pre-production so I can get this on stage soon. I'll keep everyone posted.
