Damn Weight

Recommended Posts

I've got to go back to dieting... AGAIN!! (vs just maintaining the weight loss) Twice now I've spent like a year + getting down to my idea weight... each time i then slack off and balloon back up again.

Gah. I looked in the mirror a few times this week... scary stuff. I have more weight to lose than i think i've ever had to deal with before. In the past i've just felt i was "overweight" but now, i actually look in the mirror and think... "your fat." Ouch.

The especially irritating/depressing aspect of it is that im so unhappy with my appearance i cant bring myself to go out in public. (aside from any other health issues) I sure as hell cant go to the club, which is the king and queen of "people watching" places. I'd basically HAVE to get hammered to deal with it and since i always drive myself - noooooooo way. lol

I know there's no magic bullet for weight loss , just thought I'd vent. =(

You have done it before... you can do it again. Diet and exercise, my friend, diet and exercise. Besides, when you did it last time, it seemed to have assisted in improving your overall health. Go for it again. :)

I have three words: Dance Dance Revolution

It's so fuckin enjoyable, you have no clue you're working out, and when you get really good you can go to the arcade at your local mall and show those Asian kids who've spent like 6,000 dollars in quarters on it exactly WHO'S boss. It's how I lost 60 lbs and kept it off, and I didn't even have to try.

I was never much of a walker. Nor was I much of a dieter. Now that I live just a few blocks from downtown Royal Oak, I walk a lot. I love walking around here. Usually, Jeff and I take Angel and the kids walking with us. This weekend, while Jeff was turkey hunting, the kids and I went alone. We really enjoy it. It's nice living in a nice neighborhood where everything is so central to us. It actually makes walking even more fun! And now that i know where a few cool shops are, I'm not only going to be thinner, but broke as well.

History of heart failure? I think if you have that kind of history, you don't have to worry so much about your diet.

Heh. The only reason I know about DDR is from Troy. :D

I have my own copy still sitting unused going on 2 years now. As well as a brand-new dance pad, and the materials to pad it for optimum useability and comfort (foam padding, carpet tape, etc).

Working on getting the new place finally in complete, working order so I can get the PS hooked back up and running.

And Troy? I know how hard it can be to say "fuck 'em" when you're not physically up to the standards of "the beautiful people" out there. But dude, give it a try - "Fuck 'em!" Repeat several times a day, and get the fuck out of the house and out to the club.

Bring enough money to get in the door and purchase one single drink and say no if people offer to buy you more. Then you won't have to worry about being able to drive home.

read this, troy!

I feel ya Troy.

Laura and I are currently on a dual lifestyle change to drop weight and basically feel better cause hey - I aint 21 anymore.

I had to cut out all the crap. Dammit I love my crap. I quit smoking (again). I'm eating ALOT of veggies and forgoing much of my beloved carbs...not all carbs...but I've had to stop living on pure carbs. And Im working out twice a day now on my bowflex and treadmill.

What I'd really love, is some fucking Brays.

But I'd also like to increase my energy and vocal range, feel a little more confident onstage, sleep better, and generally feel better overall. And I hate to admit it but when Im physically healthier it increases my creative bent, I dont know why.

I know it's frustrating. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

It's hard, I know, you just have to be SO diligent all the time, but especially with your health problems, diet and exercise is even MORE important for someone like you. So, try, try and don't give up.

:animier:

Yeah i think that asdie from any "tricks" it always does come down to the motivation. If we all had the "never say die" level of motivation, we'd all be thin, and millionares. How to get that motivation... and better yet KEEP IT is the real trick.

yeppers.

cerial in the morning on inactive days is my worst sin for this so i'm sticking to tea sweetned with honey to try and loose the wieght, but this is coupled with excercise in the evening

I'm not so sure its the exersize end of things thats the issue. If i work out like a madman i might burn maybe what? 400-500 calories? If i could just NOT EAT LIKE A PIG that'd save me even more than the workout would. (both better diet AND working out always better of course)

Yeah DDR is pretty fun. I used to preach DDR to people. (note fierce critters post down a few  ) the problem with it at the moment is with my housing situation there really isn't any good place to do it at. =(

So if i mix the first two "work out" suggestions with the 100% sugar diet below (thus giving me mass energy to workout with) I should be good to go?

It's really the shoveling in of the food i think more than the lack of exercise. I do get a minimal amount of exercise still when im in the mood ( walk the dog, actually still do work out once in a blue moon, etc) Also i think i need SUNLIGHT , seem to get depressed, even though i hate the fuck in sun.

FUCK EM!!! FUUUUUUUUUUCK EM!!! (oh shit did they hear me? IM SORRY !! I didn't mean it critter made me!!)

I keep hearing good advice , and some of it i've been giving for years... but somehow "knowing" what to do and actually DOING it seem to be separated by the grand freak-in canyon.

Troy....

I love eating. Second, third helpings? Gimme! I have to stop. And, I am stopping. But if I don't walk, I get no exercise. However, I was just told about Gunnar Petersen's DVDs. I have one ab. ONE ab. What IS that? a 1/4 keg?? I'm getting the 4 DVD set with exercise ball this week, and I'm starting. In my family, modifying diet isn't enough. I'm the thinnest person in my family, and not by all that much. You can't do it by walking alone.

Or, at least *I* can't.....

You could do it by diet modification, but you'd probably be so starved you would backslide immediately. The one-two punch definitely is the best route though. Both diet and exercise. In terms of the exercise its way WAY more about the cardio than it is about any muscle toning. Its true flexibility and muscle help burn extra calories but its not nearly as significant as the cardio. The cardio is what burns the mass calories. You can do yoga 3 hours a day every day for years and never loose any significant weight, gotta get the heart rate going.

it's a lifestyle change - u cant just diet - it has to be a complete change is routine - it'll be hard at first, but once u get in the swing of things it'll become 2nd nature

Well i've been "in shape" multiple times now , from basicly busting ass willpower over a year or two period. But i always seem to backslide. I can never seem to get it to actually convert from "me busting my ass" to "its just how i operate". At least not yet. Maybe then 17th time is the charm?

there are cheaper ones on the market and although cardio vascular excercise is great, those mainly concentrate on your legs.

overall you want a full workoiut but you have to consider where you need it the most.

include in your warm ups the following to help break up some fat around the midrift.

stand with feet facing forward shoulder length apart, hands on head.

EXHALE as you bend to one side making the right elbow touch your right hip. dont worry if this doesnt happen, do whats comfortable

INHALE as you return straight

Exhale as you cary that movement down to make the left elbow elbow to try and reach tyour left hip.

INHALE as you return straight

all that is one repatition. i usually do 10 of these for each warm up session i do whether it be strength training or flexability training

    • About to get this day started.  Yesterday, my vehicle was towed to our neighborhood service center and was started on.  I also took care of multiple appointments and errands.  Now I'm about to verify orders and then start on yardwork detailing.

    • I’m feeling the temptation to get dressed and go out to the store to get some dessert.  I’m also feeling restraint because I’m not going to do that, even though I physically feel the temptation.
    • I had two dreams last night. The first was about a man in a director-level importance coming and going from his office. He had trouble with his feet, and it was painful for him to walk. He wore large, warm boots similar to mukluks but comically large. He shuffled while wearing them. When it came time for an important meeting, he switched to a different, more normal boots and walked normally despite being in pain. Then he returned to the large boots. I was watching him from a mall bench outside his office the entire time. The second was about me and my coworker sitting in a room similar to a large, tiered lecture hall. Our boss would bring us comically tall stacks of paper and told us to sort it. The papers were large packets of information on various things, and most of it was basically meaningless. We pointed this out, and my boss shrugged and said "I know" and gave a sympathetic half-smile. There was no way to sort it in a way that mattered. Eating strong cheese before bed is a fun experience. I highly recommend experiencing cheese dreams at least once in your life.
