  1. I get all excited when I get a new notification and then I find out it something like...someone quoted me. Then I get let down :.
  2. Oh yeah, you too, my bad. I actually did know that but for some reason didn't think of it at the time.
  3. No matter where I go, I see the same hoooooeeees.
  4. You actually look nice bald. You're one of those rare sorts where you can be bald and not look like a mean, douchey, chotch-hole. Glad to know my tax dollars pay for your Gardettos!
  5. In junior high, I listened to stuff like Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, and various metal bands because I didn't know anything else dark existed at that point in my life. There was a boy in my grade who was kind of in the same boat, but was more I guess "rocker" and less dark about it, listening to stuff like Deftones and all that. Basically, he had all the fashion but didn't really listen to legit industrial bands or anything of that nature. He had an older brother, who was in the high school at the time, and HE...well honestly he frightened the shit out of me, he was intimidating, I thought he was super-evil at the time. In later years, I've come to find out he's one of the nicest people I've ever known and still run into him at CC occasionally, so it's silly to think now that I used to be afraid of him then. I would walk outside after school and my classmate's older brother would be hanging out there with 2-3 other high school kids waiting for him to get off school, so I would glance at the bands on their shirts because for some reason I considered these kids to be more legit than anyone in my grade. I was the only overtly obsessively dark kid in my whole school, I craved it and sought it out with no prior influence or real reason to do so, and so I gravitated toward his brother's group because their presence was ominous. "Skinny Puppy" was one of many bands on one of their shirts that stood out to me, and I pirated whatever I could of theirs off places like Limewire and Kazaa back when they existed. The scattered jarring noise of it all just sort of did something to me, it was like getting high off noise . And I guess I've been strung-out on it ever since.
  6. There was ONE kid that listened to goth rock in our high school and I had a mad crush on him . That's how I began to get exposed to it. It wasn't one of those things where I forced myself to like it just because someone I was into dug it, I genuinely thought it was whimsically spooky kind of stuff. It fits a different mood than industrial does but is still dark and eerie. He was massively obsessed with Bauhaus, so I'm pretty sure that was the first actual band I can remember listening to.
  7. A classic. I see it as being a mainstay at MANFAST because it's simple, fun, and you can actually pair everyone pretty evenly as far as weight and strength goes.
  8. What's with all this shit about people not having power? And how the hell are you all posting about not having power if you guys have no fucking power? I take it was that day where everyone got flooded and stormed on except people in Warren, because that doesn't happen here. Reminds me of having to turn the power on in Nazi Zombies. I play too many video games .
  9. I personally say keep it. It reminds people that DGN isn't free to run, and over the years various members have told me they would be more motivated to donate if the funds were clear-cut as to what is needed, and if there were a place to see exactly how much has, or is being, donated in a month. I never consider it in poor taste or "begging" when a non-profit organization that provides a specific service to a community asks for funds.
  10. (Photo by sglgothmom, 2010) Epic battle between Raev and Timata over a metal chair . KatRN05 is all the way to the left. (Photo by sglgothmom, 2010) Ricky, Raev, Black Jack, and Raev's sister. 37 days left
  11. Generic mass PM being sent out to all MANFASTers: I've been informed that it is illegal to bring ANY wood onto a state park recreation area in Michigan. It used to be legal to bring certain types, but apparently this has been changed, and hefty fines are involved. I don't want to see anyone getting ticketed, although I'm sure it would be a slim-to-none chance. Wood can be bought on premises or found DEAD in the woods. We usually do not have an issue keeping the fires supplied because Black Jack signs up to go every year. Thanks for your cooperation .
  12. Something I forgot to add to the packing list or information: MANTESTANTS who are planning to participate in the cook-off: PLEASE MAKE SAMPLE PORTION SIZE FOOD. Our dogs will be very happy if you do not! Although having someone feed you an entire Double-Down made from venison instead of chicken and a 900 lb burger that was somehow combined with Cheez-It seems like it would be nice...it was not. It was the most excruciating thing I've been through in awhile, and this is coming from someone who has a period every month. Keep the sizes reasonable, as with a lot of entries we will get filled up QUICK.
  13. You're on the roster . And dressing up is welcome regardless of whether you're a MANTESTANT or spectator, it's just that the MANTESTANTS are the only people who earn points for them.
  14. Dammmn you are TEN minutes away. Like five miles. I'm sure if nobody else wants to swoop you up, the day of arrival I can probably drop everyone off at the site and send someone out to get you, if I don't do it myself. So try to arrange a ride, and if you CAN'T, then you shouldn't have to worry about it.
  15. Cool beans . I hardly post on FB anymore because DGN is the place to be :.
  16. I seeeee you lurkin...

  17. All Your Chairs Are Belong to Us is contingent on whether we can get enough plastic chairs, due to the design flaw that had been discovered last year when metal chairs were used. If AYCABTU is chosen, but we do NOT have enough plastic chairs, we will most likely have to have it pushed back until next year.
  18. Exactly the same deal as the other poll. This is to find out what MANFAST guests, both MANTESTANTS and spectators alike, enjoyed the most last year. This survey will influence which games are brought back on this year's roster. The only "group" activity that I left out of this survey is the MANFAST Cook-off, as it will always be a staple in the roster and the first scheduled event of the weekend.
  19. Since MANFAST is an event to be enjoyed by everyone, we love input as to what was enjoyed and what wasn't all too fun. In this poll, vote for your favorite "individual" MANFAST event from last year. These are the events that were done at any time at-will by the MANTESTANT, they do not include any events that were scheduled. The most favored events will return alongside new challenges in this year's MANFAST event line-up.
  20. In lieu of MANFAST, I was training last night and therefore too drunk to post photos AT midnight. Here they are: (Photo by sglgothmom, 2010) I'm not in this photo. I was force-fed cake and beer, so I was in a chair someplace in the vicinity taking a siesta. This saddened Eevee, who came out to see me and I ended being old the whole time . Pictured from left to right: Reaper, TFG, Tszura (they're all in one huge group in the shot), Eevee, Spook, Nightgaunt. (2010) Our campsite, BEFORE the wrecking. 38 DAYS, I'M SO NERVOUS/EXCITED/WET
  21. I'm JUST about to PM the suggested packing list to everyone who has reserved. If you haven't reserved yet, but would still like to see a copy of it anyway because you know that you plan to go, that's cool, just PM me and let me know. Obviously all of the items on the list are not mandatory, except maybe consumables because being a mooch all weekend without prior notification is a super chotch thing to do! Usually if a DGNer is financially disadvantaged at the moment, people will ALWAYS come through to chip in. People have done it for me, I've done it for others, others do it for others in the community, but showing up with nothing and expecting people to carry your weight is rude. I made the list super easy, anything you don't think that you'll be needing can just be crossed out, and I conveniently put a little box next to each entry so that as you get your shit packed (rofl) you can check off your items. I made it so fool-proof I might as well be packing your bags for you (and for the low one-time payment price of $9.95, per bag, I just might consider it ).
  22. That is a cute take on the original story... I'm trying to place the voice actress for Smurfette without having to look it up, because she sounds SO familiar.
