  1. Thank you to everyone that came out to see D:Konstruct and Red This Ever. It was a great party, lots of familiar faces. Thanks to Aaron for spinning such an awesome set as usual. Although we wont be playing CC anymore, we hope that you will come see us play other venues in the Metro Detroit area:) We've has a blast playing and doing the CC events over the past few years. We will see you all again in the spring of 2012 with a new album. Take care my friends and enjoy the rest of your Halloween weekend:)
  2. Tonight's the night. We hope to see everyone out at City Club! Have a nice Halloween weekend!
  3. Tomorrow night, come hear Void6, Jinx, Zoo logic, and others tear it up at the Token Lounge. If you are a frequent patron of Necto, you are not gonna want to miss this. Get there early, free parking! The main room will be industrial and dark electronic, the smaller room will be dub step I believe. Drink specials rock as well at Token. The party ends at 2am which also gives you some time to hit the other clubs if you travel from party to party. See you tomorrow night!
  4. DJ Aaron Hingst will be spinning lots of Halloween fun in the Ballroom before the bands play. The first band goes on at 12:30. Come join us for some fun! Remember also, get there early! CC is gonna be packed that night!
  5. One of my seniors in high school has a band called "Remember the Dead"; they're opening for Gwar. It's his first big show and I'm excited for him.
  6. This will be D:Konstruct's last show at CC. We are throwing a Halloween party for all of our friends and fans. I know we're lame because we just played CC:) Many missed our set and Sybil and others insisted we play so we will. We will open for Red This Ever this time going on at 12:30. Each band will do an hour set. Aaron Hingst will be spinning retro/old school tunes in the ballroom. We will have lots of goodies as well. D:K is going back into the studio for a while but will be playing a few new tunes for this with the added indie guitar driven sound now. If you haven't seen Red This Ever, come check them out. They're a great goth/rock band and it should be a fun evening for all. We're keeping the cover cheap for all since so many events around town are expensive around Halloween. We look forward to seeing everyone at CC. If I don't see you, I want to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!
  7. I will be at the Token from 8-10pm selling tickets on Fridays and Saturdays for $10 for 18 and 21+ if you're interested
  8. Thanks to everyone that came to our show with I:Scintella and the Gothsicles. We have developed a closer friendship with these two bands and they had a good time. My apologies for D:K going on so early but the focus that evening was on the other bands and they wanted us to play the show. This coming Oct. 29th will be the last time D:K plays Leland City Club. We appreciate everyone coming out to our shows and showing their support over the past couple of years. Sybil has always been good to us at CC and this last show is for her and the fans that come see us play. This fall, we are working on a new album and moving in a more indie/rock direction with the band. We're focusing our sound more like the Killers/White Lies/Kaiser Chiefs to do a comparison. We hope to shoot a professional video for our new track "Kill Your Memories" this winter as well in black and white. We have added guitar to a lot of our new music which is sounding pretty good. In the metro area, we plan on focusing on venues like the Magic Stick and other clubs that cater to a more indie fan base. We simply want to expand our fan base and hope that you will continue to come to our shows. In the beginning, D:K started as an industrial band moving towards a more synth pop oriented sound. We however, want to show people that we can play and do play our instruments and feel that guitars and a combination of electronic/acoustic drums add an overall improvement to our sound. We will always continue to create better music for you guys and all of our fans. We will play some of our new tunes on the 29th as a bit of a teaser, you know you like it! We have also started something aside from The Collective called D:K Productions. We did this because we felt people had lost a lot of interest in Collective events and that the structure of the Collective had dwindled. D:K Productions will officially kick off with our first G:RAVE on Oct. 28th at the Token Lounge. This will be a combination of industrial music and harder techno with dub step thrown into the mix. We want to try and combine the crowds a bit for better business. Why? It's common sense: when you make money you can do bigger and better things. National bands charge a lot people and you need to go out and support the local promoters that spend a lot of money to put these events on. I've heard a lot of criticism from different people about this promoter or that one, this DJ or that one, but until you set something up yourself and run it, don't judge. These people are doing this for you. There certainly isn't any money to be made in promotions! I know some people out there may scoff at this idea but I care not. We have always tried to help this local scene and support the DJ's, clubs, bands, etc. If you want to be involved you have to be assertive and flag us down. I would love to have a strong goth/retro night but there simply isn't that kind of support around here anymore, only criticism for some gothier purpose (slits wrists). RIP is a perfect example of this. We set it up, few people showed, some criticized, I cancelled it, and then people were saying what happened to RIP? Although we are not playing this first G:RAVE event (I know the name is cheesy but appropriate [insert middle finger]; we are setting it up for future regular events at the Token Lounge. The manager is very cool and interested in helping us out with many future projects. Well sorry to ramble, I don't get on here much anymore. I hope to see all of you out on the 28th and 29th. If I don't see you, have a happy Halloween!
  9. The management has agreed to allow us to run events there under D:K Productions (Robert, Jon, and Mike of D:Konstruct). We will be setting up events from now on at The Token lounge for your entertainment. We will also be looking to set up an industrial night on Thursdays there with a room for dub step as well. We are shooting for that Monday Necto/Saturday CC crowd for a regular Thursday thing. I will let you know soon when we do this. In the mean time, we have pre-sale tickets for the G:RAVE for $10 for everyone so 18+ can get them at a discount through one of us and or our crew. Void and Jinx will also be selling tickets at Necto so ask them about it. The Token Lounge has a nice sound system, decent drink prices, and great parking. Tickets are selling fast! Maximum capacity is 600 and with Zoo Logic's crowd and the others, the younger crowd are picking them up fast. I or one of my crew will be outside the Token Lounge selling tickets on Friday nights from 8-10pm and of course at CC if you catch one us. Becca, aka Figet, is also selling tickets. With lights and sound, our vision is to give the crowd a powerful industrial/hardcore techno rave feel. We will feature bands later on down the road but we want to raise money to bring in bigger national acts. If you want to be part of D:K Productions, please email me, Mike Phipps, or Jon Yowell. If you are a DJ and or band that is interested in Thursdays or future G:RAVE events, email us as well. Although this is not a retro event, we also plan on in the future taking advantage of the space around Token Lounge to include the retro/Goth crowd in other buildings that will be connected with our events. More to come, get your tickets soon and I will see you at the party! Robert Vandergriff D:K Productions Director Collective President D:Konstruct
  10. We all may do a summer tour together next year. There are just some groups that really work together and we really enjoyed the combination.
  11. As of today, there is a 70% chance that they will be here Oct. 28th to play a Halloween show. I will let everyone know as soon as we work out the details.
  12. Yes, they are playing. We all just did a show in Indianapolis together which turned out to be awesome. They asked me if they could do a show in Detroit and I thought all of you would like to see them play at CC so I set it up. I hope many of you will come and show your support. It will be an epic show. See you soon! Wait till Halloween...
  13. Sorry to have done that. I was using facebook and copied the link from my facebook profile. I'm not sure people can vote or not. Some people have been able to and some people have told me you have to be somehow part of the music industry. IN any event, thanks for everyone for their support.
  14. D:Konstruct has made the finals for the Detroit Music Awards in "best industrial" and "best album". 15. Thank you all for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated. I will discuss with management what we can do to make this happen. If it is a go, I will let you all know sometime in the next few weeks. If the night does happen, we will call it Requiem. I hope it does happen and we can continue to try and make things happen here in Detroit. A friend of ours from out of state mentioned to me that most people here don't realize how good they have it when it comes to going to a place to hear and dance to goth, industrial, ebm, etc music. We all enjoy to some degree coming out dancing, drinking, and or hearing good music. Please don't argue over it or create tension. It is important that we all try to get a long and support our music scene despite our differences and opinions. Thank you to those of you who come out and support what we are trying to do. Thank you to all of the DJ's and bands that work very hard for little to no pay to put on these shows. There are lots of good people here and this is the only reason why I choose to stay in this state and try to make things happen. The Lab back in the day was the first place I met people and made friends in this scene. I am very grateful for that. Although we may not like different bands or DJ's or maybe we don't like fetish performances or something else that is being done, I think it's important to remember that people are trying to do something versus nothing and that is what counts. The DGN crew and CC have always had a a love hate relationship. I agree the place is somewhat of a shit hole but it is our shit hole until something else comes about. You cannot expect Mike the owner to listen. He simply doesn't care about making the improvements that we want. I think the club will eventually end within the next two years from what I do know. I hope it doesn't but that's the facts. Sybil, although many do not like her, takes so much heat for this club. She works her butt off to keep it open and should be respected for that. The staff also put forth a lot in the club, more than you realize. The $5. that we charge for events doesn't even take care of everything. If we hit 300 people we may break even. The Collective is only allowed $1 off the door for each person. I try to pay the bands and DJ's between $75 and 100.per show. And we have to pay bands out of town for doing shows which is always a challenge. The more people that show and support the events, the better acts we could bring in. Sorry for my rambling but I think its important that everyone gets a better perspective on what we do. Thanks!
  16. I will work on putting some table, chairs, and couches in there, something cozy. We are also gonna keep the music area contained a little better, not so loud.
