  1. @phee's band does stuff, and @DJ Nocker's band does other stuff, and Defiled plays music. $10 cover - (not sure of age limit) - Doors at 08:00 PM @The Reagle Beagle in Yipsilanti 817 E Michigan Avenue Ypsilanti, MI 48198 https://regalbeagleypsi.com I plan to show up after the monthly Gathering at IHOP at 07:00 PM I also plan on going to The Michigan Skeptics Association meeting at China Star Palace at 01:00 PM
  2. The Picassos are legit and their new keyboardist is great. I just wish I lived closer.
  3. Yeah I wouldn't go back to that shop ever and would review poorly. Name and shame! Still you shouldn't trust anything and should do your own inspections (especially since you know what you're looking at/for.) Not that you should need to but as the Russians say "trust, but check." My first car was a 1986 Ford Topaz that almost killed me. I was going to the house of a girl I liked and the accelerator was giving almost no power. I had to mash the thing to the floor to even hit just under the speed limit. As I went to leave from there it worked fine but I had no breaks and almost drove onto Main Street! Years later in one of my hearses I noticed the breaks going all the way to the floor. I had rusted lines which were more expensive to replace as they were stretched. Maybe that's why I drive like an old man, because I expect things to fail and only trust them so far. Not that I don't take some risks but only the ones I'm at least 90% sure of.
  4. Yeah, I was reading and the cost to run it is actually more than it sold for. Wish I had those kinds of resources, but if I had those I'd probably rather have a quantum system anyway.
  5. I think you doubt yourself too much. I'm not, but that's only because I piss off half the scene and I refuse to use most social media. In any case I should probably shove this in the Daylife section, but this gets so little traffic I'm sure it'll still be here in a month.
  6. *checks calendar* But it's nowhere near November! :P FDT FJB FTB
  7. The title of the video is "This Is Absolutely Terrifying !!!" which is absolutely a clickbaity title. It's not descriptive of the video's content at all. I didn't even bother watching the video. I will say Louis Rossmann is guilty of the same shit though, but it's really a practice that needs to stop (but won't because it works.) Hamas are assholes, but Iran and Israel are assholes with nukes. I have no idea why Israel would bomb their embassy while they're in the middle of an ethnic clean.... I mean war, because only an idiot fights a war on two fronts. But if shit pops off things could get really ugly really quick. I do hope it's contained over there but if the US provides support then we become a valid target as well, and Iran has the ability to build nuclear arms pretty quickly if it hasn't done so already. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_program_of_Iran#Research_and_development_in_nuclear_weapons "the archive revealed that Iran's weapon program was more advanced than had been previously believed in the West and that should Iran pull out of the JCPOA it would be able to produce weapons swiftly, possibly within a few months." Israel also has nukes which means a retaliatory strike would be pretty likely too.
  8. Clickbaity titles can fuck off.
  9. I know, was just saying. Also that movie should have done better than it did. The nanobot swords were cool too.
  10. Oh yeah, no I hate just about all printer companies except Brother, and even they have been caught doing unsavory shit lately (whether they kept it up or not is another story.) Recycling has a lot of problems, but it's better to at least try I think. Much of it is still just waste though. Penn & Teller did a thing on it many years ago now. Mostly it just exists to make us feel better about our carbon emissions though. I said that we should install UV-C lamps everywhere but no one listens to me. Pretty bad for the eyes but it kills just about everything.
  11. Most of the artists I know are fine with piracy to a degree since it gets their music out there and heard. People who enjoy it can then buy it if they want to support the band or just donate to their Patreon if they have one. Once they get larger like Madona or Metallica (two famous examples that got really cunty about it) they start to care more. But this is apples to oranges. Take printer ink from HP. They don't want you using third party cartridges in their printers or refilling them with ink so when that proprietary chip monitoring the levels says it's empty then that cartridge is trash. Or Kureg's k-cup coffee cartridges that you stick in. They put in DRM so you couldn't use a third party cup to brew your coffee (they got around this by putting the old lid on top of it.) I think Kureg eventually stopped the practice but I don't know for sure as I've never been a big coffee guy. Or Apple which is the entire reason Louis started his crusade in the first place. Even using a third party charger would make some models act weird and not function right. You're right though I do use very little. I try to only buy as little as possible, repair what I can, and replace what I must. My phone is a Pine64 PinePhone and I can not only take out the battery but replace any part of the phone. It runs my OS and even though it is a bit hard to use right now it's getting worked on all the time with updates and whatnot. I was at Sam's Club once and an AT&T sales rep thought he had an easy mark. I showed him my phone and told him to forget about it (also my plan is $15 a month from MintMobile (now part of T-Moblile) and there is no way they could beat that.) The other thing is if you can't repair something then the only option left is to throw it out. Which only serves to create more (e-)waste. I know I'm just one person but if everyone cut down on their waste output then the world would be a much better place.
  12. Yes, two grades of machines, same shitty manufacturer. My point is no on should be giving them any money because they genuinely don't want you to be able to fix your own equipment. Or maybe they don't care so much about the common consumer but rather the commercial contract ones. Either way DRM sucks and so does John Deere. Here's another vid, just for fun:
  13. I've been boycotting them for a while now because of their DRM policies:
  14. You should surprise him with a strapon for lulz.
  15. Watching a Trump rally then? I'm about to get the slide show together and get ready to go to the Detroit Atheist Meetup where I will see @Stu, @Maureen Falconand lots of others.
  16. Nice to know what I missed. At least now I know exactly around when I got there and when I left.
  17. Somewhere in Ohio. Preferably with these guys but we'll see what my friend wants to do.
  18. When adding files you also have to add that file into the post. Which is just the dumbest crap, I mean why would anyone bother attaching it if they didn't mean to insert it? I realize this issue is unrelated to what you were saying, but it made me think of it.
  19. I'm okay but hugs are always welcomed, virtually or otherwise. Pizza and I disagree sometimes now, it's weird. I'm still going to eat it though and if it kills me at least I'll die happy.
  20. I'm not, but until recently I hung out on the #pfrc channel on the lug.mtu.edu IRC network.
