Well myself and @Serxera got kicked out by proxy since there was some drama with Chelsea and a DJ (or his wife.) She even called and tried to make sure things were cool before hand.  It's been over 10 years but I guess things are still not cool.

Whatever, we got some food and went back.  Thought for a second about "Shrek Rave" but decided against it since it's overpriced and we'd probably hate the music anyway.

Not sure what they're doing now but I decided to just stay home.  I'll go hang out at his place tomorrow anyway.

But it was good seeing everyone for those five minutes.  Looking forward to next  month.

    There's a lot I could say here, but, I won't.

Just that the order didn't come from me, I had requested it not happen, and something transpired while I was on stage...but I'm talking to the venue about it.

  2. A bit deflated.

Over the years I've had to let people go. It's part of being a manager. Having to let someone go who did nothing wrong, well, that demoralized me.

I sat there. Recited the HR text. I watched a good person crumble in front of me. I saw their heart break. Their life come undone in front of my eyes - with no fault of their own.

Just a victim of corporate restructuring.

    I don't want this anymore.

Ironically I'm sure (though they do live in Canada, I think they just give them away.)

Fun fact, if I'm ever invited over there to DJ my first/last track will be "God Save the Queen" by The Sex Pistols or something equally as offensive.  Abolish the Monarchy!

I had a friend with Mao as a fridge magnet.

You can get pictures of the Head of State (which is currently HRM Charles Rex) for free through official channels.

For the most part Canadians are widely indifferent toward the Monarchy. There are some who are strongly pro, some strongly con, but the majority seem to give it a resounding "meh".

The Monarch has limited authority in Canada. Provinces hold more individual power than States do, and Provinces have more control in their day to day than the Canadian Federal Gov't does.

You have a framed photo of queen Elizabeth in your house??

    I do!

Of all the things to see in our house that's the thing that gets the most questions and I find it hilarious.

I find Queen Elizabeth to be a fascinating figurehead who had lived an interesting life, and though the role of the Monarchy is primarily ceremonial with Parliament stripping the Monarchy of all real power generations ago, she still helped bring the institution into modern day better than I think anyone else could have. With the limitations placed on her and the institution by both British and Commonwealth law I believe she did more net good than bad in this world.

When I received my citizenship in Canada, because HRM Elizabeth Regina was the ceremonial head of state and the figurehead that is the focus of Canadian citizenship my wife thought it would be hilarious to give me a picture of the Queen.

I agreed it was hilarious and hung the picture and giggle every time someone looks at it with a look of confusion on their face.

    No wonder you rarely post.

Well, I suppose you have to make that cash somehow.  Hope you own your home, housing in Canada is pretty screwed from what I've heard.

In 2015 we saw house prices starting to creep up month by month, so when we saw one that fit most of what we wanted we leveraged everything we possibly could and bought a small, basic house. We suspected the price creep would continue and if we didn't act we'd be priced out.

Good thing, too. Our neighbors house just sold for around $300,000 MORE than we paid for ours.

I wish Raev would come out more too.

I get out when I can. My day job is regularly 12 hour days Mon-Fri. One weekend a month is Asylum. Doesn't leave me a tremendous amount of time to get out and socialize, pursue hobbies, tend to the house, and spend time with zee wife.

I have as much fun as possible but life is hard.

It's been said, but, gives me a sense of community... And I need that right now, a lot with all the changes I have made to protect myself and my peace so I can continue through my life easier. And not so, traumatically 😒 I'm single, and staying this way. But this place, idk. I begin my first visit with the online group, for my high functioning autism. I'm trying, to, learn how to social better. I can say a whole bunch of stuff, but when other repeat back what they think I said, I'm always misunderstood... It's frustrating.. So, yeah.. In time, progress. Rome wasn't built in a day, and I hope to become more of a social pleasure as time goes on and I take these group meetings to better myself. This place, has, always gave me, a sense of myself. It's nice coming back from time to time. It's like a home I made when I was a teenager in pure Hell. Not the town lol. But yeah. Idk.. It's hard to socialize... At this point, I jsut want to be quiet, and sit in people's presence... Laughing, smiling, and giving a hug if needed... I don't know. What I feel inside, is never how people tell me my words say... Idk.. I wish I could come to the goth nights with Raev... I am better in person..

This internet stuff, is becoming, increasingly difficult.

If you can't make it out, there's always craft beer joints we can hang out at again!

  8. Eva X.

Eva X is the project of Canadian Gabby Gustafson, who is joined by her husband Erik (currently with Grendel) for live shows.

Eva X is a young project with lots of room for growth, and runs poppy, but the soul of the music is sound. There are a lot of personal demons in the lyrics from Gabby. She's still finding her footing, and relies maybe a touch too much on some vocal effects, but the core is good enough that I am still a fan!

Eva X recently finished their first tour in support of Danny Blu and Morris Blak, and Eva X was the star of the show in my opinion. Eva X will be performing at the 2024 Dark Force Fest.

  9. Black Nail Cabaret is a Hungarian darkpop duo and a personal favorite act.

Bete Noire is a track that's about 5 years old so not new at all but it was my introduction to them. Vocalist and songwriter Emise told me that the inspiration from the song actually came from The Waitress by Tori Amos.

No Gold is a track a touch newer. The video really impresses me because it shows the dedication to her art that Emise has. The shaving of the epic long hair of hers is real.

Then there is Do You Wanna by Junksista ft Emke. Emke is the stage name used by Emise. Junksista and Emise have done a few things together, and every time Diana and Emise work together something magical happens and it doesn't sound like either of their projects.

BNC is covering Happy House on the Siouxsie tribute album being released by Cleopatra records

  10. First up is Mark E Moon - Daemons.

I believe this is a Scottish act and this song came out just over a month ago. Last month I played this track and it went over quite well, with numerous people asking wtf it was.

I wouldn't classify it as goth, or industrial, or postpunk, but somehow adjacent to everything.
