  1. What I mean is, I couldn't take it seriously AS Star Trek. As a movie, I could probably have enjoyed it as summer popcorn fare. But, while he's terrific in things he does, Simon Pegg--not Scotty. Karl Urban--really not Bones. It just...didn't mesh quite right, I guess.
  2. My sense of timing with regard to DGn events truly sucks....
  3. Chiasm is awesome, if for no other reason than their gothed-out remake of 'Milkshake'.
  4. While I hope the fellow gets the help he needs (counseling both for the suicide threat and likely for domestic violence issues that were mentioned on the DFP's website), the fact that he caused major traffic problems for half the metro area's populace (75 got backed up, too, around the interchange, as I understand it) adds a layer of rudeness (to put it politely) to an already very selfish act.
  5. Perhaps it's because I saw the film before reading the book, but I much preferred the film. The plot felt more cohesive, spent less time with secondary characters, which in this case I found to be a plus; the film focuses in much more on Oskar and Eli, which leaves it feeling like a much leaner and tighter plot. I've still a few pages left to read, so I could change my mind, but I doubt it.
  6. I would expect that this would cause womankind to lose the right to call men 'pigs'....
  7. My desk is huge. I have books (programming, networking, depression/anxiety disorders, D&D), CDs & DVDs, a couple of framed photographs, pens, paper, candles, my point-and-shoot camera, instruction manuals, dice, a coffee mug, Coke Zero cans, memorabilia from Japan, often my cat, half my collection of Star Trek Christmas ornaments, a swing-arm lamp, random USB cables, Magic: The Gathering cards, bills, PC games, PS2 games, a wireless router, lease & insurance information. Oh, and dust bunnies.
  8. I was impressed enough by the film to start reading Let the Right One In.
  9. While I get to be Captain Oblivious. ...we make a pair. I just hope that pair isn't like Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
  10. Yes, but then I wouldn't look as good. (It wasn't what got me started, heh, but I've actually been told, surprise of surprises, by two different people that I looked sexy when I smoked). So, you see, it's a delicate balancing act. Maybe I just need to smoke in a bubble?
  11. Is THAT why everyone sidles away from me when I approach? Here I thought it was simply because I smelled bad....
  12. As totally ridiculous and, ahem, skanktastic as all of that sounded, I really can't find it in me to argue the quoted comment.
  13. Morrissey - Everyday Is Like Sunday Trudging slowly over wet sand Back to the bench where your clothes were stolen This is the coastal town That they forgot to close down Armageddon - come Armageddon! Come, Armageddon! Come! Everyday is like Sunday Everyday is silent and grey Hide on the promenade Etch a postcard : How I Dearly Wish I Was Not Here In the seaside town ...that they forgot to bomb Come, Come, Come - nuclear bomb Everyday is like Sunday Everyday is silent and grey Trudging back over pebbles and sand And a strange dust lands on your hands (And on your face...) (On your face ...) (On your face ...) (On your face ...) Everyday is like Sunday Win Yourself A Cheap Tray Share some gris tea with me Everyday is silent and grey
  14. The beautiful thing about it, is that it needs no support, it is simply what it is. If it comes to that, I'm willing to be DGn's Adlai Stevenson.
  15. Take a few minutes and look at the people dancing at City Club. They don't have any clue either, better than nine times out of ten. It's easier said than done, I know better than most, but...don't fret about it so much. I know I have no clue what the hell I'm doing.
