I hope it is useful for you , as well as other people.

Gas prices are really high right now, and people lack money for fun things, so cooperation lets more people get more enjoyment at lower cost. Makes sense to me at least.

UPDATE: MI Goth- Industrial Rideboard

Due to popular demand, I have added a new field to the Rideboard's

submission form. Some people offering rides are willing to drive a little

out of the way, a fact which was not previously indicated on the Rideboard.

There is now a space to indicate the range you are willing to go out of your

way.

I hope this helps people form carpools more easily.

Carpooling is always a good idea, for everyone involved.

That's why I set up a central location for people to list their information

so they can find others in their area who are interested in going to the

same events. The rideboard is not about me, it is about everyone helping

each other. Everyone wins.

Lots of people check the MI Goth - Industrial Rideboard, but in order for it

to work to its full potential, more people need to list their carpooling

ride wants and / or offers. The more people sign up, the more likely people

will find people to carpool with .

Obviously people should use their judgement in accepting or offering rides

to strangers, but I've never had any problems myself. I wish everyone luck !

Holiday season is here, the spirit of sharing, end of the year parties,

money is tight, roads are snowy, drinking and driving isn't good.

What to do? Carpool !

MI Goth Industrial Rideboard: save more money have more fun

Hi,

Interested in going to the Necto, City Club, Mephistos, Luna, the Labyrinth, etc ? One more resource for people who want to go to clubs and concerts: carpool! Everyone wins when people cooperate.

There are currently people listed on the Rideboard interested in going to all the above places. Some are offering rides, some are looking for rides. Everyone who has listed themselves on the Rideboard is interested in connecting with new people. The latest entries are two people offering rides to City Club.

What are the benefits of the Rideboard to you?

Event promoters win when more people show up their events. Club patrons win when they get to attend events that they might not attend otherwise. Gas costs, transportation availability, interest in meeting new people, companionship on long drives are just some of the reasons that people find carpooling appealing.

There are currently people listed from all over SE Michigan, but the Rideboard is open to anyone whose trip either originates or ends in Michigan. People from Western or Northern areas of Michigan are welcome. People going to or coming from Chicago or other out-of-state locations are welcome, if their journey is to a Michigan event.

If you are adventurous, what have you got to lose? Everyone wins!

I see a lot of people looking for carpools to various events. Want a place everyone can go to see all the requests in organized form? No wading through threads, just the facts, in easy to read form.

Personally I've had more luck getting rides this way than asking randomly on email lists/boards. But your experience may vary.

It's there for anyone who wants to use it.

Hi,

Thanks to everyone who has been interested in the MI Goth- Industrial Rideboard that I have

been running for the past several years.

I thought I should mention also that the Rideboard has finally arrived on myspace, for

those of you who use that.

[yes the myspace URL is pretty generic, I should rename it sometime...]

With all the activities coming up this time of year, I hope everyone can get to their

desitinations successfully!

Just a periodic reminder to everyone to keep their info on the Rideboard

up to date. This helps everyone involved.

Supposedly some bar in Detroit is serving a special flavor of paczki this

year. Jaeger Paczki! The filling is coagulated jaegermeister ? I dare

someone to try that. And please take advantage of carpooling if you eat a

six pack of Jaeger Paczki. After that, you shouldn't be driving. ;)

    • ~~~~~ Actually, I found it got better.  I had to learn to enjoy life.   With "Middle Child Syndrome" you don't have the luxury of certain thoughts or behaviors as you watch everyone else around you living their life and "going through it".  However, there does come a point where what was then is no longer now and you find your voice, then you can start learning what it means to live life as we understand it.   Unfortunately, because that "freedom" comes later in life than most, you end up as an adult living a crash course of "This is Life" without training wheels and it is a scary position to be in while you are still carrying the scars of an inescapable sense of duty and responsibility that defines you as you navigate your new now.  You come across as a somewhat very naïve, yet responsible adult and there isn't a lack of participants waiting in line to take advantage of that beacon.    However, without the emotionally charged state of youth misdirecting you, you are also able to come to lifechanging decisions for your betterment quicker than most, as you are hyper aware of what is coming your way.   Mix that with a bit of new found confidence and you find that you have a voice that can help others to assess their own situations and life choices.   ~~~~~ As for myself, I interact with a lot of young people who are currently "going through it" and I let them know that although they are feeling it, they have to step back and reassess their situation from a different perspective.   Inevitably, however, with age comes the "I'm too old for this..." mindset wakeup moment and then you can truly begin to enjoy what life has to offer.  I just try to help people get to that point a bit more sooner than later.

    • Not that this gets a lot of activity, but it's been three years, which is also around the last time @Lucyfurlogged on here.  This can probably be unpinned :P
