pomba gira
Gawd those photos are horrible. Imagine how that house must smell. Poor damn kitties, they were prolly better off living wild... at least they wouldn'tve starved to death in a fucking cage. Animal hoarding is so weird. These people truly believe they're taking adequate care of the animals, despite all evidence to the contrary. This looks like a pretty classic case. jynxxxedangel
My white and grey Devon Rex mix, Fionn, came from a hoarder house. It was someplace downriver, I remember, and in the news. This woman had nearly a hundred cats and dogs living under her roof! She was a prominent figure in the animal rescue community, and yet, she obviously had a serious mental illness. It must have been a combination of Lord of the Flies, and Wild Kingdom-- every critter for himself. My cat has a lot of odd behaviours because of his abuse/neglect. Oddly enough, it wasn't the first time she'd had her animals confiscated; it was the second. She'd actually done jail time over the first offense, from what I understand. Odder still, my cat was in her first hoard-- and somehow, he was RETURNED to her again!! After the second raid of her house, he was in foster care for about a year and a half, then I adopted him through PetFinder.com. I wonder if it's a common occurrence for people who foster for shelters to become animal hoarders?

I wonder if it's a common occurrence for people who foster for shelters to become animal hoarders? YES, all too common. I did a lot of reading on this after a recent case in the area. A fair number of people who run animal rescue operations out of their homes end up crossing the line into hoarding. One reason it's a good idea to check these places out before turning over an animal to them. There's a mother & daughter team who run a herp rescue deal midstate... I suspect them of being hoarders because they always have a shitload of animals on PetFinder, but they NEVER answer emails asking about them. I've been told the only way to get an animal from them is to catch them at a reptile show. Weird shit. I've heard those hoarder houses usually have to be condemned, from all the animal wastes permeating the floorboards & even walls... yuck. (haha kind of like the former RatDonalds on Gratiot near Van Dyke, which was so infested it had to be bulldozed. The rats had tunnels going to the abandoned houses across the alley)
TheOsakaKoneko
hahahahaha Re: Dale Bozzio sentenced to jail Geraldo Ashley stated that Dale’s attorney, not Dale, offered the Tommy Heath character reference. Ashley’s reporting is excellent and revealing. I am concerned that the information Ashley got from the sentencing arguments may also have been what the judge heard. Please carefully, very carefully, read what Ashley reported in paragraphs six through eight. If Ashley heard that stuff and was confident enough to report that, the judge may have heard the same thing as Ashley, and then….what’s a judge going to do? From what I have read, the problem was caused by a major communications breakdown, not by any intention on Dale’s part. Dale assigned the caretaker task, and very tragically, that activity did not happen. Dale has performed at the top of her field; details count a lot when differentiating between something that is just good or great. She has had very much to do with managing her business over many years. Then carefully read Dale’s reaction later in the report. Then, read it again. Dale is a good person. And good people should not be sentenced to jail. With her music, Dale has hung herself out there for us, and that can be enough of an emotional roller coaster ride. To be hit with this, it just shouldn’t be. Dale has given so much to us and has continued to give time and time again. As recipients, we have experienced top quality music and have been able to dance our hearts out. It’s time for us to give back, especially at this moment. Somehow we need to be able to help her. I do not know if she challenged the sentencing. It’s my opinion that she should. If she didn’t, she’s making a huge sacrifice and we need to show our support and help her to be strong. Dale, please know that we truly care. By Doc Mike on 05/31/2009 at 4:25:08 This guy's as crazy as she is!

taysteewonderbunny
Ew. How can she even contest that it was simple negligence given the photos? That's insane. Did you see the corpses? I can see forgetting a litter box for a couple of days, or letting a bowl go empty by mistake for a couple of hours. This is just sick. She's guilty and she doesn't deserve to have any pets. She should probably go see a shrink, no matter what the judge says.
jynxxxedangel
I didn't look at the photos the first time, and now I wish I hadn't. This is so fucking SICK to me. She deserves to be eaten by tigers.

There's even a picture in there with just a kitteh BONE...how sad! The other kittehs had to eat the dead kitteh to live, just ghastly... : There's no excuse for that. pomba gira
That "communications breakdown" excuse is incredibly lame. I have trouble believing that in this day & age, NO ONE could contact Bozio or her manager to tell them the cats weren't being cared for. I'd be embarrassed to stand up in court and speak some nonsense like that.
Rev.Reverence
There's no excuse for that. ...I have tried to post here several times, but could not find the right words. Now, I have found them. Thanx Cherny. YES, you are correct, there is no excuse...an excuse exempts any wrong doing. She was wrong, yes. Should she be in jail? NO. Certainly not. Bared from collecting cats..yup..if she loves cats so much, she can work at the shelter once or twice a week as Com. Service...Mental Illness is the REASON it happened (not the excuse as some of her handlers would say.) When someone KILLS PEOPLE & is mental, we put them in a hospital to get help... Can you blame HER...no, I do not think you can...SOMEONE pays her bills & such (if she can't take care of her cats, how ya' gonna' figure she takes care of herself?)...I lay whatever 'blame' on whomever was SUPPOSED to be takin' care of her...that's what they are paid for.
