Emily Darke
There's a thing about us "for the sake of simplicity described as" goth girls. We love musicians. Most women do, but gothic women tend to actually bag them. So it is that I have had my share of musical and romantic harmony.... and been introduced at least to a certain extent, to the world of Detroit Metal! So.... the bands that I know and have hung with were all pretty talented. I'm always down for helping them get a little publicity, and I'm always down for hearing about new ones. Here's my list of Awesome Detroit Music: 12 Pound Sledge (now known as Teratoma) Ghost at the Wheel Hell Rides North Soldiers of Scrape Theres others I've heard of, but the guys in these bands especially are great people, and I know for a fact that they are dedicated to creating music. Share yours today! Also sorry if I'm kinda disjointed with my wording. I had to go a few weeks without marijuana for jobs and I just smoked for the first time again, I'm kinda blown. I've heard of them/ you! I've yet to see/ hear in person though. My ex boyfriend Wig I believe mentioned Chaos Theory once or twice. lol actually 12 pound sledge has a picture of a fishnetted ass holding a sledge hammer that was potentially going to be used on an album cover... if they hadn't changed their name. That ass belongs to yours truly. And gatw is extremely amazing. Joe sounds exactly like a mix between bauhaus and perfect circle.

Guest greyhalo
Ether Aura is a very cool sorta shoegaze meets apocalyptic folk band. Tony Hamera, who used to be in Caelum Bliss, is in the band.

I love metal, but I'm also hoping someone can point me in the direction of more goth, or doom-themed detroit bands. Type O Negative vocals sort of thing. Preferably NO FEMALE VOCALISTS! Especially evanescence style or similar. I'd fuck amy lee.... but if she uttered one note I'd have to continue the act with her corpse.
Joey Deadcat
Forget metal! Here are some good locals: Trapdoor Spiders - the closest you're gonna get to Detroit goth;features John Koester of Gargoyle Sox(80s Detroit deathrock legends) Detroit 442 - hardcore punk featuring Lacy of Hillside Stranglers and Son of Sam(Detroit band not that recent band from elsewhere). Nuke/Hellbound Train - punk with a bit of a roots rock influence. Singer Ralph(Nuke) used to sing for late horror punks Nuke & The Living Dead. Empty Arms - Michigan horror/deathrock-styled punk Country Bob & The Bloodfarmers - Detroit's legendary cowpunks! Circus Boy - New York Dolls/Stooges-styled band comprised of really old-school Detroit Punks! She - Misfits cover band with a female singer Casket Bastards - surf/garage/spook-rock Toxic Shock Syndrome - female punk trio Rebel Bastards - up n' coming rockabilly outfit Rob Rotten's horror-rock band,Necrophilicans, and his Irish punk project,Ten Second March If you dig gypsy/Django Reinhardt-styled jazz then anything by any of Gino Fanelli's bands Twistin' Tarantulas - our hometown rockabilly elder statesmen! Koffin Kats - Detroit Psychobilly! got some "gothabilly" type tracks Amino Acids - outta-this-world surf/instrumental Red Shift - good punky rock n' roll And if you're into Thrill Kill Kult-styled stuff there's Crud and Haflife And check out Bootsey X & The Lovemasters! Guest GodfallenPromos
Koffin Kats rock HARD CORE...love those guys!!!! Twistin Tarantulas is really good... I refuse to express my opinion about Crud or anything else that Dana or Vinnie are involved in...beyond the fact that everything they do is highly over-rated. Reaper
I haven't been out into the scene these days like I was when I was involved in a band myself. But I never did come across any bands that were doomy in the form of My Dying Bride, Pantheist, Shape of Despair, or Mournful Congregation. All that I know of that is good comes out of Europe. Emily Darke
I'll have to research these all... it would be nice to find something in the more doom-themed genre, though. It's rare for concerts like those.... in my opinion (is that what IMO stands for? I'm not much on the chat talk lol) there is nothing so sublime and otherworldly. Excepting when Type O comes to town, I never get to indulge. MDB is amazing btw to previous poster.... I'd even say better than Type O in some aspects. Shame they don't come here..... Yeah I saw Type O in July in Cleveland. Peter is looking really old and they are just not what they used to be. If you want to indulge in some other doom, possibly as doomy as funeral music, try out Shape of Despair and Pantheist. You can find them on Myspace or on my website at www.gravedweller.net I have Don't Mourn by Pantheist on there and A Doomed Lover by My Dying Bride. But not many are around the US anymore. When Morgion was together with the original singer, Jeremy, they were pretty doomy and out of California. But they switched singers since then and are more gruff death metal. Here is the latest pic of Peter and I. It was an amusing pose as I am sure the alcohol was taking him over.

Simon Bar Sinister
Was anyone else at the Dally yesterday? Just after dark? There was a band on the Alley stage (the only stage at the west end of the block) whose name I never found out. They were a 3-piece; drummer, (female) bass player and a lead singer who played guitar and keyboards. Normally, I'd laugh at them for being a total Chameleons UK ripoff...but they were really fucking good at it.
