Dram Catch Me - Newton Faulkner

Every time

I close my eyes

It's you

And I know now

Who I am

Yea yea yea

And I know now

There's a place I go

When I'm alone

Do anything I want

Be anyone I wanna be

But it is us I see

And I cannot believe I'm fallin

That's where I'm goin

Where are you goin

Hold it close won't let this go

Dream catch me, yea

Dream catch me when I fall

Or else I won't come back at all

You do so much

That you don't know

It's true

And I know now

Who I am

Yea yea yea

And I know now

There's a place I go

When I'm alone

Do anything I want

Be anyone I wanna be

But it is us I see

And I cannot believe I'm fallin

That's where I'm goin

Where are you goin

Hold it close won't let this go

Dream catch me, yea

Dream catch me when I fall

Or else I won't come back at all

See you as a mountain

A fountain of God

See you as a descent soul

in the setting sun

You as the sound

Just as silent as none

I'm young

There's a place I go

When I'm alone

Do anything I want

Be anyone I wanna be

But it is us I see

And I cannot believe I'm fallin

There's a place I go

When I'm alone

Do anything I want

Be anyone I wanna be

But it is us I see

And I cannot believe I'm fallin

That's where I'm goin

Where are you goin

Hold it close won't let this go

Dream catch me, yea

Dream catch me when I fall

Or else I won't come back at all

You could say it applies itself well to certain situations....

In this serenity - Mayumi Gojo

Shimmering so bright

Guiding light, divine

Flow along the sea

Of fading stardust

Reminisce the touch

Over the hands you still clutch

We’ll belong lost in the past

Left to emancipate

We pray among the clouds

In the pitch blackness of night

Our voices ascend to the stars

There’s will to overcome

Though we stumble and fall

In this serenity

Eternity

We ask the starry sky

The reason to keep on our cruise

Why we suffer and

Struggle ’til end

Though the darkness may prevail

Alighted heart shall avail

In this serenty

Eternally

...

It reminds me of happier times, mostly of someone I really cared about who isn't here any longer.

Furnace Room Lullaby

All night, all i hear, all i hear's your heart

How come, how come

I twisted you over and under to take you

The coals went so wild as they swallowed the rest

I twisted you under and under to break you

I just couldn't breathe with your throne on my chest

All night, all i hear, all i hear's your heart

How come, how come

So far under the bed

Into the beams you've gone

I've gone, you've gone

I'm wrapped in the depths of these deeds that have made me

I can't bring a sound from my head though i try

I can't seem to find my way up from the basement

A demon holds my place on earth 'till i die

All night, all i hear, all i hear's your heart

How come, how come

So far under the bed

Into the beams you've gone

I've gone, you've gone

All night, all i hear, all i hear's your heart

"november" by azure ray lyrics:

So I'm waiting for this test to end

So these lighter days can soon begin

I'll be alone but maybe more carefree

Like a kite that floats so effortlessly

I was afraid to be alone

Now I'm scared thats how I'd like to be

All these faces none the same

How can there be so many personalities

So many lifeless empty hands

So many hearts in great demand

And now my sorrow seems so far away

Until I'm taken by these bolts of pain

But I turn them off and tuck them away

'till these rainy days that make them stay

And then I'll cry so hard to these sad songs

And the words still ring, once here now gone

And they echo through my head everyday

And I don't think they'll ever go away

Just like thinking of your childhood home

But we cant go back we're on our own

Oh,

But I'm about to give this one more shot

And find it in myself

I'll find it in myself

So were speeding towards that time of year

To the day that marks that you're not here

And i think I'll want to be alone

So please understand if I don't answer the phone

I'll just sit and stare at my deep blue walls

Until I can see nothing at all

Only particles some fast some slow

All my eyes can see is all I know

Ohh..

But I'm about to give this one more shot

And find it in myself

I'll find it in myself

My Immortal- Evanscence

Talking to the Walls- Finger Eleven

Right Here- Staind

Here by Me- Three Doors Down

Rain_ Breaking Benjamin

Ummm. I do have a few more. But the reson for My Immortal I listened to it for two months non stop after my ex broke it off. I was soo much in love with him it wasn't funny.

"My Immortal"

I'm so tired of being here

Suppressed by all my childish fears

And if you have to leave

I wish that you would just leave

'Cause your presence still lingers here

And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal

This pain is just too real

There's just too much that time cannot erase

[Chorus:]

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears

When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears

And I held your hand through all of these years

But you still have

All of me

You used to captivate me

By your resonating light

Now I'm bound by the life you left behind

Your face it haunts

My once pleasant dreams

Your voice it chased away

All the sanity in me

These wounds won't seem to heal

This pain is just too real

There's just too much that time cannot erase

[Chorus]

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone

But though you're still with me

I've been alone all along

[Chorus]

Gotta Be Somebody - Nickelback

This time, I wonder what it feels like

To find the one in this life, the one we all dream of

But dreams just aren't enough

So I'll be waiting for the real thing, I'll know it by the feeling

The moment when we're meeting, will play out like a scene

Straight off the silver screen

So I'll be holding my own breath, right up 'til the end

Until that moment when, I find the one that I'll spend forever with

Cause nobody wants to be the last one there

Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares

Someone to love with my life in their hands

There's gotta be somebody for me like that

Cause nobody wants to do it on their own

And everyone wants to know they're not alone

There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere

There's gotta be somebody for me out there

Tonight, out on the street, out in the moonlight

And dammit this feels too right, it's just like deja vu

Me standing here with you

So I'll be holding my own breath, could this be the end

Is it that moment when, I find the one that I'll spend forever with

Cause nobody wants to be the last one there

Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares

Someone to love with my life in their hands

There's gotta be somebody for me like that

Cause nobody wants to do it on their own

And everyone wants to know they're not alone

There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere

There's gotta be somebody for me out there

You can't give up, looking for a diamond in the rough

You never know, when it shows up, make sure you're holding on

Cause it could be the one, the one you're waiting on

Cause nobody wants to be the last one there

And everyone wants to feel like someone cares

Someone to love with my life in their hands

There's gotta be somebody for me, ohhh

Nobody wants to do it on their own

And everyone wants to know their not alone

There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere

There's gotta be somebody for me out there

Nobody wants to be the last one there

Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares

There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere

There's gotta be somebody for me out there

Do what you have to do - Sarah McLachlan

What ravages of spirit

conjured this temptuous rage

created you a monster

broken by the rule of love

and fate has led you through it

I do what I have to do

and fate has led you through it

I do what I have to do

and I have the sense to recognize

that I don't know how to let you go

every moment marked

with apparitions of your soul

I'm ever swiftly moving

trying to escape this desire

the yearning to be near you

I do what I have to do

the yearning to be near you

I do what I have to do

and I have the sense to recognize

that I don't know how to let you go

I don't know how to let you go

a glowing ember

burning hot and burning slow

deep within I'm shaken

by the violence of existing for only you

I know I can't be with you

I do what I have to do

I know I can't be with you

I do what I have to do

and I have the sense to recognize

that I don't know how to let you go

I don't know how to let you go

I don't know how to let you go

I love "Anthem" by Leonard Cohen. More than I love "Hallelujah", actually.

The birds, they sang

at the break of day

"Start again,"

I heard them say

Don't dwell on what

has passed away

or what is yet to be.

Ah, the wars, they will

be fought again.

The holy dove,

she will be caught again,

bought and sold

and bought again;

the dove is never free.

Ring the bells that still can ring

Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack, a crack in everything

That's how the light gets in

We asked for signs--

the signs were sent:

the birth betrayed,

the marriage spent,

Yeah, the widowhood

of every government--

signs for all to see.

I can't run no more

with that lawless crowd

while the killers in high places

say their prayers out loud.

But they've summoned,

they've summoned up

a thundercloud

and they're going to hear from me.

Ring the bells that still can ring

Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack, a crack in everything

That's how the light gets in

You can add up the parts--

you won't have the sum.

You can strike up the march--

there is no drum.

Every heart, every heart

to love will come

but like a refugee.

Ring the bells that still can ring

Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack, a crack in everything

That's how the light gets in

Ring the bells that still can ring

Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack, a crack in everything

That's how the light gets in

That's how the light gets in

The Last Song--Elton John, Track 11, The One, 1992

Yesterday you came to lift me up

As light as straw and brittle as a bird

Today I weigh less than a shadow on the wall

Just one more whisper of a voice unheard

Tomorrow leave the windows open

As fear grows please hold me in your arms

Won't you help me if you can to shake this anger

I need your gentle hands to keep me calm

`Cause I never thought I'd lose

I only thought I'd win

I never dreamed I'd feel

This fire beneath my skin

I can't believe you love me

I never thought you'd come

I guess I misjudged love

Between a father and his son

Things we never said come together

The hidden truth no longer haunting me

Tonight we touched on the things that were never spoken

That kind of understanding sets me free

`Cause I never thought I'd lose

I only thought I'd win

I never dreamed I'd feel

This fire beneath my skin

I can't believe you love me

I never thought you'd come

I guess I misjudged love

Between a father and his son

Guns N Roses - November Rain

When I look into your eyes

I can see a love restrained

But darlin' when I hold you

Don't you know I feel the same

'Cause nothin' lasts forever

And we both know hearts can change

And it's hard to hold a candle

In the cold November rain

We've been through this such a long long time

Just tryin' to kill the pain

But lovers always come and lovers always go

An no one's really sure who's lettin' go today

Walking away

If we could take the time

to lay it on the line

I could rest my head

Just knowin' that you were mine

All mine

So if you want to love me

then darlin' don't refrain

Or I'll just end up walkin'

In the cold November rain

Do you need some time...on your own

Do you need some time...all alone

Everybody needs some time...

on their own

Don't you know you need some time...all alone

I know it's hard to keep an open heart

When even friends seem out to harm you

But if you could heal a broken heart

Wouldn't time be out to charm you

Sometimes I need some time...on my

own

Sometimes I need some time...all alone

Everybody needs some time...

on their own

Don't you know you need some time...all alone

And when your fears subside

And shadows still remain

I know that you can love me

When there's no one left to blame

So never mind the darkness

We still can find a way

'Cause nothin' lasts forever

Even cold November rain

Don't ya think that you need somebody

Don't ya think that you need someone

Everybody needs somebody

You're not the only one

You're not the only one

I was going through a break up with my high school girl friend. Nearly broke me.

"When The Man Comes Around"~Johnny Cash

I asked Jeff to bring the disc when he drove to Baltimore to perform my Dad's memorial service. I handed it to the funeral director, who told me that she'd put the disc on loop so that we didn't have to worry about restarting it. The problem was that she accidentally hit the repeat button, and this song plaved over and over. No one noticed til closer to the service. But it's a song that just completely fit my Dad. It's a song about what's going to happen when it's "your time."

"The Man Comes Around" by Johnny Cash

And I heard as it were the noise of thunder

One of the four beasts saying come and see and I saw

And behold a white horse

There's a man going around taking names

And he decides who to free and who to blame

Everybody won't be treated all the same

There'll be a golden ladder reaching down

When the Man comes around

The hairs on your arm will stand up

At the terror in each sip and in each sup

Will you partake of that last offered cup?

Or disappear into the potter's ground

When the Man comes around

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers

One hundred million angels singing

Multitudes are marching to the big kettledrum

Voices calling, voices crying

Some are born and some are dying

It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come

And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree

The virgins are all trimming their wicks

The whirlwind is in the thorn tree

It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks

Till Armageddon no shalam, no shalom

Then the father hen will call his chickens home

The wise man will bow down before the throne

And at His feet they'll cast their golden crowns

When the Man comes around

Whoever is unjust let him be unjust still

Whoever is righteous let him be righteous still

Whoever is filthy let him be filthy still

Listen to the words long written down

When the Man comes around

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers

One hundred million angels singing

Multitudes are marching to the big kettledrum

Voices calling and voices crying

Some are born and some are dying

It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come

And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree

The virgins are all trimming their wicks

The whirlwind is in the thorn tree

It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks

In measured hundred weight and penny pound

When the Man comes around.

Close (Spoken part)

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts

And I looked and behold, a pale horse

And his name that sat on him was Death

And Hell followed with him.

It's the last 4 lines that make me cry the hardest....

I grew up in the suberbs of chicago, poor, broke, misguided and misled. For role modles I had some of the worse people you can imagine. Criminals, killers, and horrible horrible people, who all took turns teaching me the way to become a man... It's no wonder that by the age 13 I had been shot once, stabbed twice, and was under suspicion for at least one murder.

See my mother had me late in life, and knew that if she didn't do something, I would be one more child of the streets (Keep in mind there are 12 of us, and the one just above me is 12 years older than I am. I was born, according to my mother, during the worse era in america for young black males). So she left... came to UofM to complete medical school when I was 5... I know it sounds harsh, but she left me in hopes that I could havea chance if she made something of her own life.

Anyways, when things got really bad... when I found myself following in the footsteps of the... darker element, my mother snatched me from that life, and brought me here... to Michigan. I was 13 years old, and had been questioned in conjunction with the murder of one of my closest friends. Child Protective services took me out of my sisters care, and I spent about 6 months in a foster home, until I got pulled out for smacking my Foster 'sister (I refused to my mother)'s abusive husband with a frying pan. (long story).

My mother brought me here... and set me on a course to a new life. I spent most of my days in school, cause there wasn't any trouble to really get into in Ann Arbor. It was weired for me too, cause I had never been around so may white people in all my life. My mother gave me a chance... she worked with me... helped me put aside a lot of my anger and issues. One of the first people to actually acknowledge that I wasn't just 'tough'... I was smart.

And don't get me wrong... life was a lot harder here, cause my mom was tougher than any of the damned gang members and drug addicts I ever dealt with. Phee, and Odems will both tell you... my mother was a woman who commanded respect just by her presence. And she was a tiny little woman.

Anyways, my mother succumbed to cancer in May of 2001... It came as an utter shock to me that she had even been dealing with it. I used to think so negatively of her, cause she for unknown reasons turned to Pot to self medicate. (I didn't knwo what she was fighting, so to me, she just retired to become a pothead). When I found out, it was too late. This strong, powerful woman just... withered and died... I still carry a lot of shame, because when I first knew she was sick, I avoided her. She died in my home, and the first time in 2 weeks that I had laid eyes on her, was after she had died... I sat beside her, on that bed, and for the first time since my eldest daughter was kidnapped... and the only other time in probably 10 years... I cried...

There are several songs that make me think of that woman... here are some that touch me to the bone:

Xmas Day - Sevendust

One step in the dark... touch her hand

just to see if she's all alone again

Still she hasn't seen sun,

But I promise you now... when she wakes there will be none

Don't know how she get's by

Sleeps with a phone on her chest and a bottle that's totally dry

Forgets the day I was born

But if she saw me right now she would hold me until we both died

I could be the one who would die to feel you breath

I COULD BREAK INTO A MILLION PEICES SO JUST RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FOR ME YOU MEAN EVERYTHING

I can't deny here

I'll do whatever

To stop all the bleeding that makes our world so red.

Such a delicate one,

She screams so loud that I run

To hide from the sound

I could be

The one who would die to feel you breath

But it's too far gone, and this love... must die.

I could be the one who would die to feel you breath

I COULD BREAK INTO A MILLION PEICES SO JUST RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FOR ME YOU MEAN EVERYTHING

I COULD BREAK INTO A MILLION PEICES SO JUST RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FOR ME YOU MEAN EVERYTHING

I COULD BREAK INTO A MILLION PEICES SO JUST RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FOR ME YOU MEAN EVERYTHING

Life is changing... I can't go on without you

Rearanging... I will be strong I'll stand by you

You were fighting everyday so hard to hide the pain

I know you never said goodbye

I had so much left to say...

ONE LAST SONG

GIVEN TO AN ANGELS SON

AS SOON AS YOU WERE GONE

AS SOON AS YOU WERE GONE

I have a new life now

She lives through you what can I do

I feel so alone now

I pray for you We still love

You were fighting everyday so hard to hide the pain

I know you never said goodbye

I had so much left to say...

ONE LAST SONG

GIVEN TO AN ANGELS SON

AS SOON AS YOU WERE GONE

AS SOON AS YOU WERE GONE

ONE LAST SONG (I can't believe you're gone)

GIVEN TO AN ANGELS SON (I cant believe)

AS SOON AS YOU WERE GONE (As soon as you were gone)

AS SOON AS YOU WERE GONE (As soon as you were... gone gone oh oh...)

So that's a fraction of Me... Thanks for sharing this moment, and these songs with me.

"Breathe Me" by Sia The first time I heard it was on the finale of Six Feet Under

Help, I have done it again

I have been here many times before

Hurt myself again today

And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame

Be my friend

Hold me, wrap me up

Unfold me

I am small

and needy

Warm me up

And breathe me

Ouch I have lost myself again

Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,

Yeah I think that I might break

Lost myself again and I feel unsafe

Be my friend

Hold me, wrap me up

Unfold me

I am small

and needy

Warm me up

And breathe me

Be my friend

Hold me, wrap me up

Unfold me

I am small

and needy

Warm me up

And breathe me
