Pants-haters club

I like pants but I hate jeans. Probably due to my hip size. The only thing that bothers me is a small waist and larger hips so bottoms fit in the hips and too big in the waist. Same with tops, fit in the chest and baggy around the waist.

Thats my rant!

Aside from pajamas, work-out clothes, and painting clothes, I haven't worn pants for a year. Every once in a long while, I will find some that I love, but that doesn't happen often at all, and since I'm not doing any shopping for fun lately, it's been awhile. When I do find pants that I like, they're usually corduroys. For some reason, those usually seem to be long enough to not make me look like I'm waiting for a flood, and also flattering to my butt (it is big, my everything else is pretty normal-sized).

Oh, and scoff if you will, but The Gap has some very very nice (butt-friendly) pants, I find. If you can catch a sale, it's worth it.

i agree! i found the best pants at gap - fit me better than any pants anywhere else. but they were like 50-60+ bucks. no way am i spending that much money on some jeans i don't plan on wearing for a long time! i really don't want to be this size forever and if i invest in some "nice" clothes i feel i just might. ;)

I buy whatever fits me best wherever I can find it. I don't care if I have to shop in K-mart, Bergdorf Goodman, whatever. I'm buily straight up and down, like a boy. I have a thick waist. I'm not built all girly. I have to fake it as best as I can. If it fits my but and hips, it'll squeeze the shit out of my waist. Just once, I'd like to find jeans that fit in my butt, hips, and waist.

yes i used to love men's jeans! i was saying that to my husband the other day how before i had this butt and hips i could wear them. now i can't find anything. i found a pair the other day that fit great on my butt but i could have put 2 of my stomachs in it and had too much leg room too. :( i guess i should just get over it and NOT buy JEANS!

i don't wear skirts anymore cuz i don't like how they look on me. i used to have a way i loved to dress and i can't do it anymore. my body just changed that much that the looks i liked don't look good anymore. :(

Hmmm.... Not much of a fan of jeans myself. 'Though, I do have a few pairs I need to scribble on. In any case if you want to make hips look smaller try smaller back pockets. Interestingly enough the pocket size and shape have an effect on the look. I love flairs but I'm 5'2 so they make me look even shorter. I just deal with it by wearing heels. With a wide flair it accents your hips. I have a nice pair of moleskin widelegs that I think look much better than jeans anyday. Oh, if you are trying to look thinner try looking for the jeans with any form of vertical striping in their makeup. Bah, I want to be a personal shopper sometimes.

my jeans are flair jeans and i actually think that is a terrible style for me. it is easier to find the flair jeans though. (where i shop at least)

and i do love that style more than any other. but i think for my shape i am supposed to be wearing straight legged. maybe even boot cut. flair is really smaller in the butt/hip area. i think that is why i have a hard time with those and why they look so bad on me ;)

Dude, men's Levi's can be pretty awesome on girls. They fit really well for some reason. Or at least they did when I was like 18.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Word- back in the 80s when I was young & un-extra-curvy, I never wore women's jeans. I have a very short waist with curvy African hips, & the high-waisted jeans that were in style then looked like old man pants on me, not to mention being godawful uncomfortable. But men's Levi's were near perfect, except for being a little big in the waist. These days the few pairs ov jeans I own are Zana-Di or Tres Femme, they're pretty curve-friendly and also stylish... & anything stylish that fits at age 43 is a gift from the divine!

& BrendaStarr69 (used to love that comic as a kid), the bigger waist size is because men's jeans aren't cut to accommodate curvy hips & derrierre... so your men's jeans waist size will always be a few to several inches bigger than your actual waist size. You could say you're really buying closer to your high-hip measure than your waist measure.

where do you find zana-di or tres femme jeans?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Zana-di you can actually find at Meijer... check at Value City, Burlington type places for better styles tho. Only place I've found Tres Femme is at Burlington. But most of mine are from eBay... I prolly do 80% of my clothes shopping online, so I'm not all that knowledgeable about what stores carry what lines.
