I'm so ecstatic and excited about this. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. IT IS NOW COMPLETE! I hereby vow to complete every single night one week in April. :D:D:D

How have I never heard of this event? I thought I was pretty good at keeping my ear to the ground about things...is it just not marketed very much/well at all? T_T Has it been around long? What's the tone of the night? Any info on location/other details?

I really want to, it's not for any lack of desire to see your new night that I haven't made it out, I always like what you play. It's just that weeknights are hard for me in general, and a lot of times I'm too tired Tuesday night to even try because I made the mistake of doing Necto the night before! But there's about a 50/50 chance we'll make it to Mars next week Tuesday.

Wait, what's on Wednesday? Am I forgetting something? Necto on Monday. Pop-industrial, EBM, far too youthful for my tastes but I still end up going about every other week or so. Mostly beloved by the glow-stick type. They play some good stuff but talk over it too often trying to "pump up the crown" or something. Meh. Not enough dance space. Dubstep/D&B in the basement Red Room which is pretty good if you like that sort of thing, or so I'm told, as it's not really my thing. Very popular night, lots of people, lots of fashionable young college-aged kids with glowies. Cheap vodka. XD Good times in general, but not my favorite. Noir Retro or Mars Bar Tuesday. Noir Retro sounds amazing but I haven't made it out yet. Actual goth music! It kills me that Tuesday nights are hard for me. Mars Bar would be the opposite end of the spectrum I guess, really good current stuff you can't hear anywhere else, from what I've heard. I've heard really great things about the music here so far (it's a super new night) but I haven't been, and would probably have to hit up Noir first before Mars just cuz I love the 80s stuff. But as I've never been to either, don't trust what I say at all. I have no idea what's on Wednesday without driving down to Bowling Green. Someone illuminate me? Thursday we have Dark Intentions at Fat Catz in Warren, it's also new, pretty awesome...I imagine the music differs a lot based on who is the DJ that night, though, since that changes every week. I went opening night a couple weeks ago with Void and it was great, but it's Void, so that's to be expected. I heard good things about this last week too but I missed it. Friday and Saturday are City Club. City Club is...well, awesome in its own ways, and crappy in its own ways. Coming from NYC, I'm not sure what you'll think. But I think most people just don't appreciate how lucky we are in Detroit to have a place like City ... it's really quite special. Yes, a lot of songs are overplayed, but they're overplayed because they continue to be popular. And they play a good mix of some older classics near the end of the night (after 3am or so). I don't know, I will unapologetically love City Club forever. Sunday there's Dystopia in Toledo, Ohio, which is not very far if you live in Detroit proper or further south / downriver. I'm north so it's a little too far for my tastes, plus it's a bit small and kinda too metal-tinged for me, but it's not a bad night at all, a pretty nice place. I only went one time, so I'm not really an expert. They did play some goth rock at the very end of the evening. If you want to know what's played at any of them, many have playlists posted here regularly. City's are posted almost every night, and I saw a playlist for Mars Bar as well. Necto not so much, and I'm not sure about the others. But you can get a sense from those.

I'm probably the only one but I enjoy Luna on Thursdays...I only go about once every ~3 months or so, but it's a lot of fun in its own way. But totally not goth at ALL - very mainstream pop 80s, and even 90s now. I haven't heard Gaga there yet, thank god, but lots of Billy Idol, Michael Jackson, A-Ha, etc, and also Depeche Mode, The Cure, etc. I dunno, it's good stuff, fun. But no industrial and no solid goth rock. Have to be willing to put up with all the normals though. Other than that I really only usually hit CC and Necto, but I'm still the height of uncool and love those places (CC more than Necto, but Necto's quickly growing on me). If you want something on other nights and don't mind a little drive down to Ohio, there's Dystopia in Toledo on Sundays and Bowling Green on Wednesdays. They both have decent dance space. If you're south of Detroit, the drive's not even all that bad.

Was sad at the timing of Zydrate Anatomy though, we couldn't possibly leave the floor, and therefore missed part 1 of sintuary's performance because it ended before we made it back over immediately upon the song's ending! D: Dammit...but that said, it was awesome you played it. <3
