Sonic Drive-in Is Coming To Michigan

Recommended Posts

Ok, I started to laugh when I read this post for the first time. I didnt realize that Michagen didnt have any of these places, If I drive withen a 10min drive I get KFC,sonic, chikfla, taco bell and taco bueno, long john silvers, quizznos and about 2 dozen other restaurants. I rarely eat fast food, but take it for granted that some places dont have these everyday joints.

I live pretty much walking distance to this Sonic in Southgate. The line on a daily basis is long for drive up, can still expect hour+ wait to place your order most of the time.

The food itself wasn't very good unfortunately.

Going to try something different in a day or two as well as a few misc drinks.

SONIC drive-in planned for Oakland Mall area

TROY — In keeping with a land use plan to give consumers more choices on how to spend money near Oakland Mall, the council gave the go-ahead to a drive-in restaurant.

The council unanimously approved a rezoning request for an undeveloped 1-acre parcel on the

east side of John R, north of 14 Mile Road, in the Oakland Plaza shopping center.

The new H-1, highway service, zoning replaces the former from B-1, business zoning, to accommodate a SONIC, America’s Drive-In restaurant.

Under the city’s new Master Land Use Plan, the 14 Mile and John R area is designated as an area focused on varied commercial products.

Well it's good to know that when I come back to visit Detroit there will be a Sonic to go to. I'll tell you one thing you all have that is missing from Sin City... White Castle. We have a Coney Island (that imports Faygo, Vernors and Better Maid chips) and a Detroit Style Pizza place just no place to get sliders after the club. It's kinda sad

I posted on an expats forum recently, about how much I will miss White Castle, when I get over to Wales. All the yanks who have moved over to GB already were bellyaching about missing Taco Bell. I can take that, or leave it..but White Castle-- I will never get over The Crave. :hrhr:

Nope, no White Castle west of the Mississippi. Their evolutionary niche is places where the winters are cold and the livin' is hard. I missed it when I lived in Cali... but at least there's one in Lansing now! Way back in the early '80s there wasn't one closer than Southfield.
