Skinny Puppy's long-awaited new album, Handover, will be released in the US on October 25th and in Europe on October 28th. hanDover continues this stripped down 'rock' sensibility with another solid collection of songs which adds further credence to Skinny Puppy as an iconic outfit within the industrial, electro and goth oeuvre. Although the album may not be frothing at the mouth with aggression or unsettling imagery, the dark melody here is infectious enough, led by the charismatic vocals and presence of Nivek Ogre. Ogre's multiple personalities shine through here in spades, proving once again how important this band has been for their genre's forward strides Here is the track listing::: 1. ovirt 2. cullorblind 3. wavy 4. ashas 5. gambatte 6. icktums 7. point 8. brownstone 9. vyrisus 10. village 11. noisex Funny they have a song called Noisex as there's also a brilliantly good rhythmic-noise artist called Noisex

We had one night recently where we asked ourselves "Where is everyone?", but other than that we maintain a really good following of devoted attendees every Wednesday. Always look forward to seeing new faces and regulars obviously. Plans are afoot to take over a weekend location shortly.

Understandable. Hope to see you again soon. That drink is still waiting

VERY GOOD night. The strong storms didn't keep us from having a strong turnout! Thanks to so MANY people for coming out on a Wednesday. Lots of laughter, lots of conversation, sarcasm, dancing, drinks , debuts (LOL) and more. For those of you who read Rev Johns interview, the feedback and further discussion was good to hear. Appreciate all the comments on the music./club all night and the inquiries into what we were playing (followed by a LOT of "can I borrow a pen to write that down!"). Playlist should be up soon so you all can investigate what was played. How many of you are on Spotify? Have an idea that could be executed very well via Spotify if enough people are on there... Looking forward to next week and we hope to see you.

Sounds a LOT like the former Progression nights (http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?showtopic=31076&st=0&p=639654&hl=progression&fromsearch=1&#entry639654). The old idiom claims, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... (you know I kid, sorta...) Regardless, it's INCREDIBLY AWESOME to see both Elektrosonik and Void (who were on the decks for Progression as well) taking a strong initiative to focus a NIGHT on new music (and not just the first 20 minutes when no one is at the club). It's really needed and something that should continue to happen on a regular basis. There's a ton of new music and artist/bands out there very deserving of attention and much more frequent play. Constantly talking with Elektrosonik during :: Industrial Wednesdays @ Mars Bar :: about new artist and often surprised by what is not (yet) getting played at City. For those planning on attending Industrial Revolution - i highly urge you to listen with a bit more open ears/open mind, be less fussy and let Void and Elektrosonik introduce you to some really cool new stuff. You're in for a fun night! Hope the night goes well guys! -

Oh and certainly some more material from Xyla will be played. (iris introduced us to her ~yes HER~ music last week) With her debut album Xyla sculpts an unparalleled world of harsh beauty and raw emotion. Intense distortion collides with unexpected melodies, leading you on a mythical journey unlike any other. Destroying any attempt to confine her sound to a specific genre, Xyla boldly creates a new breed of electronica. Ancient secrets elegantly captured amidst synths and percussion. Fierce, hypnotic beats spiraling out from the depths of melancholic atmospheres. Ethereal voices clawing their way out of the mechanical mayhem, 'I'm seeking my shadow/seeking the whole of me.' Resonating with an unfamiliar, hidden side of ourselves, these 9 previously unreleased tracks will hypnotize listeners and dancers alike. Terrifying, haunting, enchanting: 'Come and stand at my altar/You have nothing to loose.' Light a candle, turn the volume up and prepare to confront your shadow in the realm of Esoterica. -

Yeah I often wonder when Detroit is gonna wake the fuck up as well. Detroit doesn't hustle harder. In fact WSU scientist have proven that Detroit is actually rather lethargic The 'problem' is two fold. A) You have select DJ's who could really stand to clean out there cases and replace some of those discs they have been playing incessantly for many years, with newer material. It's not as big a challenge as it would appear to be. Plenty of current stuff out there that can be used to craft a wonderful night of music. Too many DJ's play it safe, fear killing a floor and have difficulties taking the risk of playing something new. B) the crowd needs to get updated, educated, adventurous and CURIOUS just as well. Old school nights and tribute nights really do nothing to spotlight what else is out there. Just keeps that viscous cycle of what's been repeated for years going is all. If people we're exposed to more than they know and what is familiar to them, chances are they'll take some interest in it. If nobody is introducing it to them how do they know about it? It's mind-boggling that people still dance to stuff like KMFDM "Anarchy", "Personal Jesus", "Asphole" by Pigface and that damn Out Out "Admire the Question"... Those songs each came out over 10 years ago. Been well overplayed. The argument that they are good songs, classics, floor fillers is invalid. Necro Facility's "Ignite", Torul "Try" and the whole Cygnosic disc are just as exemplary, it's just nobody knows it yet! (LOL). Think of the things that have changed in that time (from movies, to fashion, etc...) Plenty of new developments and directions out there that need to be brought to the forefront of peoples attention, but it appears that the detroit scene remains stuck in an old musical rut. The opposite of progress is decline... Hopefully we'll see people opening their eyes and ears. Surprises would await.
