Dumb question about pictures

Recommended Posts

For a long time I've noticed people (mostly female but i can't assume its only them) tend to take self portraits from a raised position (camera pointing down at them) Is there a reason for that? Do guys do it too? It's baffled me for a long time... I guess i'm just bored enough to ask now... lol

If there's cleavage that's usually one reason. Women who are chunky can hide it by taking face-only shots with the camera higher up; if I've seen husky guys do this I don't remember it, probably cause they are often considered jovial and care less. Another thing is it can make you slightly look more serious/sinister to take pictures if the camera is over the eyes rather than under the chin. The whole angles thing probably didn't start with Myspace but that's where it got notorious.

Explained really well above.

Myself from a philosophical standpoint lets call it i tend to NOT want "glamour shots" if anything I'd rather have the pictures look worse than I do in real life, so when someone meets me they aren't like "UGH?? who are you?". Although in terms of DGN , better pictures are better as people are well... people and mankind is a visual creature... unfortunately.

I look worse than i do in most pictures at the moment so *fear* just due to various health crap, but i'm working on it. =)

Bingo. 9 out of 10 of my male friends see this as a red flag if there is a girl on the internet they might be interested in. They call it the dreaded "angles", and most see it as something to run from because they believe that she is probably hiding some extra uhmm baggage if you will.
