Man Arrested for Kissing His Own Daughter September 7, 2009 Italian tourist faces 15 years in prison after Brazil pool incident. A controversy is brewing in Brazil over a 48-year-old Italian tourist who was arrested for touching and kissing his own 8-year-old daughter, the BBC reports. A couple reported seeing the man touching a young girl inappropriately at a hotel pool, apparently unaware that the girl was his daughter. Under a strict new law designed to combat child abuse, the man faces 8 to 15 years in prison. The man has been in jail for nearly a week; an attempt this weekend to free him failed. Another will likely be made tomorrow. The misunderstanding happened in part because the man’s wife is Brazilian, so the child has darker skin than he does. His wife says she wouldn’t hesitate to take the daughter’s side if he had touched her inappropriately, but says she was by the pool the entire time. —Kevin Spak BBC News

Never had a drinking problem but other deep and long term substance abuse issues. I have been clean for a long time now. I didn't use A.A. because of the religious conditioning they use. I just stopped on my own. A.A.and N.A. seem to be based on the giving up of yourself and your crutch to a higher power to help you with taming it. I think we both know how helpful that is. This is something you need to work out for your self or possibly some professional help, if you are into that. I mean no disrespect to the Christians on the forum; you can believe in whatever tenets make you feel content. I miss getting high but I also came to the realization that it was a short term fix for a long term issue/problem that I will always have to deal with. As was said by another poster; you just have to find what works for you and makes things more tolerable, even if it means staying away from certain people or places. You are the only one who can save yourself. Not all "Goth" people drink or do drugs and I'm sure some are now sober as we've become older and wiser. I'm an example. I believe people need to learn on their own and even though the lessons often come hard, it's the only way to be taught, through pain and experience(s). Just never make the mistake of lying to yourself about your addiction(s). I feel that's the most damage I ever did to myself. The feeling that I could control the situation and stop whenever I wanted. It took many attempts at sobriety before I got it right. I also can't tell you that I could resist certain substances if I was plied with them either though. I had to focus on other things, such as art, writing, photography and knowledge on whatever interests me. You are doing excellent, I see no reason to stop forging ahead. You don't need Christian dogma frustrating you at A.A. meetings when it isn't what you are into.

Hi everyone, I'm not really online as much as I used to be for physical/medical reasons. I also am not the type of person who feels completely comfortable telling people what I am going through. I have been so lax on DGN in the last 6 months but I don't want people to feel I am in any way flippant about my feelings toward this community. I've always enjoyed it immensely . In the last year I have had to wait extended time frames for more than 3 Cancer results i.e cervical biopsy, breast exams every 6 months because things were seen on my films,etc. I have one more test to go, if this comes out alright at least the Cancer issues are all clear for now. I am not going to mention much else other than that I have three chronic illnesses that I am now dianosed with. That's all I will say. They do effect me daily. It's hard to describe, when you are ill, you just can't express it because you feel that no one could ever feel what you (and you would not want them to) do because in disease you suffer alone in a sense. I have friends I don't even tell. Others(familial relations) watch you suffer and that is a very difficult thing to watch. The last thing I will say is that I have grown to enjoy DGN and see it's members as friends almost like a club but we just aren't face to face. Just know I'm peeping in here from time to time. This thread made me think of a friend whom I lost many many years ago. He was buried with the earring that I gave him as a birthday a few months before he killed himself. Once visiting him at his grave some heavy shit went down when a person I took with me was there was making fun of him. Unexplainable to this day. If you ask me, Tony was with us that afternoon. He was a good old soul but just wanted to know a bit too much too fast when it came to the Occult Sciences. He and his gf were going to name their son Lucifer Wayne. Rest in Peace Tony.

Those ubiquitous TV ads where a simple little pill transforms a man suffering from erectile dysfunction, or ED, into a virile tiger who puts a smile on the face of his now beaming wife. Well, Representative Jim Moran (D-VA) has seen them too, and you’d be hard pressed to see a smile on his face when he talks about the ads. “A number of people,” he says, “have come up, including colleagues, and said I’m fed up. I don’t want my three or four-year old grandkid asking me what erectile dysfunction is all about. And I don’t blame them.” Enter H.R. 2175. That’s a bill that Rep. Moran introduced last month that would prohibit any ED ads from airing on broadcast radio and TV between 6AM and 10PM. The bill advises the Federal Communications Commission to treat these ads as “indecent” and instruct stations to restrict their broadcast to late night and overnight hours. So, could it be adios to all of those “Viva Viagra” commercials that play on network television on weekends and during the evening? Could the same be said for the Cialis couple sitting in outdoor tubs looking out at the sunset? And could Levitra also be shunned to the overnight hours? CNN asked Pfzier, which makes Viagra, the first pill available by prescription to treat ED, what they thought of Rep. Moran’s bill. “Pfizer is committed to responsible advertising… In line with our policies and the policies of the industry, Viagra advertising is aired in shows most likely to reach men suffering from erectile dysfunction. ED can be a signal for other serious medical issues, including high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.” We asked several people on the streets of Atlanta for their opinions. Nikia Clark, a mother of a 2-year-old, thinks “it’s a great idea.” She’s concerned that as her child gets older, she doesn’t want him “seeing those kinds of commercials… on regular network shows.” Janice Habersham agrees. She says while the “ads are tastefully done” they shouldn’t be aired at “the time when children are watching TV.” On the other hand, Bruce Jackson says ED ads “should be run 24 hours a day.” And Louis Tesser says banning the ads “is clearly unconstitutional… it’s a viewpoint. It’s something that people are interested in, and you can’t change that.” Rep. Moran does have some perspective on the issue. “While it’s not as important as the economy, or what’s happening militarily around the world, it is an intrusion into the quality of life that we like to experience.” He says that his bill is “a shot across the bow” of the drug companies. “You know enough is enough. This is inappropriate.”

It's wonderful to see that there are so many beautiful people here. Inside where it matters. I do my best to be a decent human being on a daily basis. I give when I can and I'll be there for who needs me. It's very easy to get caught up within ourselves but I feel I am beyond that for the most part.
