  1. I just reshared again. See if I can get people to spread it around. Doing my own fundraiser I know it is something you really need to promote to get it out there. It can be a lot of hard work. Let me know if I can help in any way.
  2. I saw Troy share this and I thought it had to be from your family. I hope things go well for you all. I shared it as well, hope that helps.
  3. All you accomplish when trying to make everybody happy is pissing most of them off and wearing yourself too thin. You are one of the most genuinely caring person I have ever known, you just need to be careful in being overzealous in what you take on. Focus on those who appreciate. From what I have been able to gather following this as much as I can it seems people keep adding and modifying things or bringing things to your attention that they didn't deem relevant up front. The on call guy with a team would be having the same problems you are. Calling someone in to take an estimate is dickish and will only serve to feed their egos. Of course they will out-quote you, but if they actually hired them likely it would be the same situation they have with you. The problem in situations like this is seldom the builder and usually the client. Hugs Virtual hugs work. I am getting a new kitten in a week or so.
  4. That is pretty shitty. If Detroit is a blight on America, it is that way because America made it that way. That much I can say. The city needs help, a lot of it. If ever there were an example of the American way of doing things; Detroit is it. Be aware though ; not everyone you think is shitting on your city is actually shitting on it, many are simply trying to raise awareness of what is going on and find ways to help.
  5. See if you can climb the walls and if you look any good in red and blue spandex.
  6. This has been a rough week. I just cancelled seeing the dog this weekend because now seeing the dog is stressing me out. I did none of the things I wanted to do this week and it is suddenly over. I wish I had someone to wrap their arms around me.
  7. Still unsure what you mean, but ok.
  8. I wish I could help with your camera Trene For a long while I have been considering getting a dog to help with my anxiety issues. I am able to do a lot more if someone is with me for companionship so I was thinking a dog would help with that, plus would force me out of the house regularly. I had one visit overnight last month and it seemed to help as I expected though that particular dog wasn't suited for me; way too much energy for an apartment and too undisciplined for his size. Actually almost got me hit by a car. But I did get out of the house more in one day than I normally do in a month. I have another dog visiting this weekend. I am a bit anxious about this but at the same time excited.
  9. I am kind of a mess in all honesty. My anxiety has reached a point where I have to struggle to leave my apartment. This winter was murder on me. I had such a massive and constant anxiety attack that the cat litter and trash didn't go out in three months. I am managing that again now but still way behind in terms of mental health. There is a irony to really bad anxiety in that it prevents you from doing the things you need to do to overcome your anxiety. It even lead me to abandoning this site for a long while simply because it was one more regular thing in my life that complicated it in such a way as to stress me out. But I need to be here if I ever want to get out of this hole. I need local friends, preferably that I can see and spend time with in person regularly. Something I haven't really had in a long time, and which I cannot make without leaving the house...which I cannot do regularly without help, and etc.
  10. Forget all the mentally ill people (often kids) who have done horrible things and their parents, its all this one Goth's fault clearly. It is always easier to accuse and judge than to ask why. They are even trying to try these kids as adults, when honestly any reasonable court upon having defendants state they did it because a fictional character told them to should be sending them to Psyche. Whether Slenderman told them, Voldemort, or Jesus.
  11. I kind of vanished for a while. In the last few years my anxiety issues have really started getting the better of me, and my problems with developing and maintaining routines has been getting harder as well. So a lot of sites I tend to spend time on have been gradually falling out of use. But for a variety of reasons I really need this community. First and foremost someone very special to me uses this site to express themselves a great deal (for similar reasons I have wound up avoiding it ironically enough.) If I am going to be able to be as much a part of their lfe as we both need I need to fight through my issues and spend more time here. Second I really need local friends. Preferably local people in Windsor I can hang out with if possible. Anyway I am back.
  12. Do you playt or are you interested in playing Magic Online? I havn't played physical cards in years (played since Ice Age) Looking for more people to play with online though.
  13. A lot of people have trouble grasping the difference between education and experience, or recognizing which tasks and knowledge are within certain areas of expertise and which are not. Albert Einstein — 'Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.' We are all fish to some degree. The inability of those in our lives to recognize our scope of ability and demand of us accordingly assault our self esteem on a constant basis, and many people are unable to let go when we fail to climb a tree. Failure is perfectly all right. People who cannot accept failure in others show large predisposition to confirmation bias. They forget that they fail all the time as well, with a personal bias towards their own success only. It also shows an inability to accept that people can grow and change and can learn ; which says more about that particular person's inabilities than your own. Failure is not something you should fear. Failure is the biggest step towards learning and growing. People who do not fail simply do not learn, and if you meet someone who can honestly say they do not fail constantly then you have met someone who is either oblivious to their own reality or who have been extremely lucky. The latter tend to be unprepared when actual failure finally comes along and their entire life can fall apart over the simplest setback once it inevitably happens. We should judge people not by success and failure but by how they handle success and failure in themselves and especially in others.
  14. Just had a fight with a longtime and very close friend over what was intended as an ironic racist joke they made on fb (pic of them as a child eating watermelon, caption ; "I knew I was black." After years of them seeing me as a source of wisdom and guidance, this was the one thing they chose to fight me over when I called them on it....
  15. That isn't the first thing it was used to make. We have had 3d printers for a while. Ex roommate of mine had built his own actually. You can make one using the guts of an Inkjet printer (they use the same technology) as a base. They are used more often as prototypers. Earliest use I saw displayed of one was showing how it could print new organs in hospitals (still largely in development.) And metal detectors are useless and counterproductive. Anyone looking to cause any serious harm with a firearm in any of the places that use metal detectors just ignore them. They certainly have not stopped school shootings. Guns do need to be regulated, but all banning them from certain areas have done is prevented those who were legally allowed to carry from being able to react.
  16. Well nobody knows everything... Problem is many professionals tend to think they do. It is also a profession bound by profit margins when it should not be. That is really shitty though. When someone brings a kid in with a wound that seems to be going necrotic, last thing a doctor should do is send that kid (or any patient) home. That is a horribly bad call.
  17. It potentially would have killed him. There is a reason the skin started to turn necrotic.
